  1. "There is a dearth of data available around the world from airports and their PAX : X ray scan facilities ratios.... surely the first step might have been to obtain historical and forward estimate PAX numbers, determine based on flight schedules the peak times and redo date to get an indication on max PAX loadings.. then compare with other airports and look at equivalency of ratio's...... then take these ratios and apply back to DMG situation...."

Now please translate that into Thai...

  2. just yesterday i had one of those instances where an aggressive driver behind me in a brand new expensive sports car, was impatient that i was not u-turning fast enough for him (in the pouring rain with many cars coming at me in the direction i was turning). so he sped up around me and did the thing that Thais love to do - block me from turning so he could make the turn first and quicker - while giving me one of those looks like "too slow" as he blew by me. he screeched into the traffic and proceeded to hit an elderly woman who was driving her motorcycle, knocking her off the motorcycle and sending the motorcycle sliding along the asphalt about 15 meters down the road. everyone who saw the accident had the same look on their faces - like what an impatient idiot! fortunately the lady was wearing a good helmet as she did bang her head. but a couple of Burmese kids ran to help her and she seemed to mostly be complaining of elbow and backside pain. i think she was O.K. but probably felt not so good today.

i thought the guy was going to do a runner but he eventually pulled over about 25 meters up the road and got out. as i passed him by, i gave him that same look he gave me - what an idiot!

But if he is Thai he will blame you for his accident.

  3. Ask as many Thais as you can what 6x7 is and report back your findings ( no calculators allowed)

This is an anomaly because those of us know our 'times tables' were taught by rote (constant repetion until indelibly in your mind). 6 times 7 is 42. 6 7s are 42. We were taught that way long before calculators existed. The Thai education system is based on rote but as everyone has calculators I'm sure the times tables are not even in the curriculum. Sad.

But as someone commented: how can it change? Who teaches the teachers?

  4. Lots of interesting comment here. My guess is that while Kannot thinks he's offering good wages and benefits for a decent job (and from a Western perspective he is), for the type of people who are likely to apply and try it out, it's not. It's a boring job with little satisfaction. Money and comfortable living is not enough. Most SE Asians are not used to being isolated, away from family, friends or a community of their peers. They won't stay long in a job if they do not have this; they need to be 'happy' and this usually means working as part of a group they can socialise with after hours too. He can only hope that luck will send the right couple along one day.

Which is why we provide them with as much entertainment a s possible tv internet etc free fuel they can go out on the motorbike all day to the sea or wherever, obviously after i have beaten them and they have licked my boots clean...................according to some

You're still thinking as a Westerner. The most likely candidates would be local relatives and even they won't be much different or stay very long. Without the owners living on it, the idea of buying a piece of land in the boondocks was probably flawed.

Hmmmmmmmm most advice is never use family in Thailand, thankfully her ( Wife's) parents are both dead and the rest 500 miles away. Her Father was a piece of crap anyway, her words not mine i never met him.

They ask for these things when they come, they understand the job + a fair few are from Burma so are far from the family already, many call home daily and locally ie 1km away are more Burmese that they know of if they want some company.

I live on the land wife visits every 2 weeks or so.

Don't mean to be critical, but from what you've told us, the whole setup seems a bit strange, with you only 51, staying there alone while your wife lives in Bangkok and visits only every fortnight or so. What's the plan? I think the real problem lies with you.

  7. Why is he being labeled a scammer? This is a form of begging not scamming, I see Thai people doing this all the time in Bangkok. I find it incredible how the media lead with this incorrect story, I see a report about a poor 71 year old woman being robbed of over 200,000 baht gets listed much farther down the page. Why are petty crime's committed by foreigner's in Thailand highlighted in such a way, whereas heinous crimes committed by Thai's are treated as the norm. Thai Visa should in my opinion recognize this and report respectively!

If he's got goods for sale, he's not a beggar or necessarily a scammer but a travelling saleman. smile.png

  8. Hi there, as mentioned above there are many trials and tribulations to be negotiated by a Foreigner investing and opening a business in Thailand.

As many have mentioned the love affair may not last, so do your research and be sure you understand exacting what is required and what the RISKS are currently and may be over a period of time.

Stop and think logically then research, test the information gathered, think again, do further research if after thinking you decide you require more information.

A very important comment, only made once that I saw, is -

    • ASEAN commences on 31 December 2015
    • you said you are from Malaysia, are you Malaysian?
    • if you are Malaysian you will have benefits that are common to all the members of ASEAN from 31 December this year
    • determine if those benefits are to your advantage in opening a business and living in Thailand
    • gather all the information both Pros and Cons
    • decide if you still want to live and work in Thailand
    • ask for advice from friends or professionally, perhaps both
    • do all the research that you feel will allow you to make a clear and logical decision
    • STOP and THINK AGAIN
    • make your decision

Good luck with which ever decision you make, but do think it all through before taking the steps.

Remember - "He did plan to Fail but simply Failed to Plan"

The way you earn income in Malaysia will have a big effect on your success. What do you do for a living?

  9. I guess both sides, the ladyboys and the homophobes, should learn to exert some restraint.

    Wishful thinking I know.

No if you refuse to have sex with another man, than you are not gay, but not homophob

    You are both very wrong.

Many straight guys do go with ladyboys (a lot more then real gay men do, that is why the ladyboys are all over the straight bars area's).

I am sure the guy was not a homophobic, just not interested in a pushy ladyboy.

In my book a ladyboy does not classify as a man and I am gay myself and so NOT in to ladyboys.

Why as a gay man would I want someone with a penis, whom looks like a lady, BRRRRRRRRRRR

Sorry to break it to you, but by definition straight guy does not sleep with other guys.

So those "straight" are far from being straight.

Either in the closet or bi

Not even for money? And not just in Thailand.
