So LM becomes lèse-militaire.

Cultural conditioning on your part.
Why would you WANT to remove the stickers anyhow?
Because you were TAUGHT to remove them as a child back in limey land.
Question: If you had a 20 year old Rolls Royce in the U.K. would you remove the Rolls insignia from the hood/bonnet.
No, because you were TAUGHT that the insignia has prestige.... so you keep it on.
For many Thais being able to afford a new Fridge or an expensive washing machine also represents status.... to be quietly displayed ..... but not to be directly commented on (to showy if directly displayed).
To have the sticker quietly displayed to be seen, but not to be to showy is the "cool" way of letting it be known you can afford that "Farang" appliance is the correct way of displaying it in your house.
Sorry, but have to disagree. There's a big difference between an insignia or brand name plate that is an integral part of the product and (usually) easily-removed stickers which are placed only to promote a product's features and benefits so that potential buyers can compare similar ones side by side in a sales showroom. There are also clear plastic protective (against scratches or dust) peel-off stickers. All are intended by the manufacturer to be removed by the purchaser. Displaying them indefinitely is due either to ignorance or a cultural thing (status, face) but it's more common in 'developing countries' – and not just Thailand.

The only reason they remove the price tag is so they can inflate the cost when their friends ask (as they invariably do).

Because it gives bored old Farangs a chance to take a poke at Thai people on anonymous internet forums.
Not to mention young non-Thai apologists for them!

What I don't understand is why did the plane take a flight path over the French Alps? The flight path should of been more of a north eastern route. Over flat land an emergency landing would of been much better than just plowing into the jagged peaks of a mountain!
Are you serious?

To be honest ,i am really thinking of getting out,3 years now,and not real happy, fine before Nosferatu moved in.i have offered to put him up in another house, near the temple, but,my wife is worried as he cannot cook or clean, how he can live there,i have to resolve this somehow, but of course it will be against all logic, that i have to leave, her father stays, and they have no money apart from the meagre income from the shop, and then blame it all on the Falang jai dam,i give up.
You're only 3 years down the line? I managed 15 (7 TH, 8 LA) before accepting I could never really adapt and be happy to integrate with the social system i.e. partner's family - and got out. Best move I ever made.
26 years, recently retired and getting a bit narked with constant requests to help the family. Couple of thousand baht now and again is ok. Hundred thousand is taking the pi*s.
But are you happy?

No comment from Costas? I assume he’s too busy writing more statements for Maj-General Sansern Kaewkamnerd.
No, he's moved on to loftier topics like Thai roundabouts.

Maybe it is the memory of the sixties - it took us only 10 years to completely change western society.
You mean screw it up.
One man's screw is another man's ..............

This porkie pie story is way past its sell-by date. He's better off "makin' bacon" the conventional way.

Read my replies ....im not going there !!! Can all the knuckle heads stick to info on pig farming and not on relationship. I only asked on this forum to give me plenty of ammo to hit her with as in her words " teerak you cannot lose money in pig farming " so now she has been hit with what knowledge i have gathered. She asked me how i " know so much" well as i say isaan aussie posted a great thread on pig farming. From the OP: Girl says she has fallen in love with me ( or my money lol ) she wants us to go live in isaan ( these thai chicks move fast ) anyway she does seem like a lovely girl and i just spent a couple months with her .
On that he's prepared to place his future in her hands by going into pig farming in Isaan?
Nuff said.
Nuff said.
Fair enough, but the relationship is paramount. She is an Isaan farmer's daughter, she expects her chosen farang to support her family enterprise. Maybe a new house and pickup will suffice.

When you're in love with someone, everything just feels 'right'. Nothing can go wrong ...
-
OP, are you old enough to dig yourself in at an Isaan village?
Except for some very special people, living in Isaan is an endless bore.
Special – and in many cases, deranged. Exceptions of course. At least with a Pattaya bar there'd be some fun while losing money.

Look at the pic!
Long as dad's head protected!
Exactly - it always amazes me how the parents will wear a helmet but leave their children unprotected.
Do you really think Thais wear helmets for protection and not just to avoid a fine?

The upper northern regions are surrounded by high mountains, as a result the harmful air pollution mixture of smog / fog / etc / are a dangerous human health problem, and the public suffers.
This harmful air pollution can not get quickly out of the region due to the mountains, and it takes over a month for the ending of the air pollution.
Suggestions:
1. Move the mountains
2. Move the city
3. Learn to live with it – Chiangmainess?
4. Go live somewhere else.

Being half Thai I find it particulary offensive when people lump Thai women all together as liars and con artists. Then when someone lumps Western men together it's another story. My female relatives all work hard at their jobs and not one can speak English yet because they're all natives of Pattaya they're lumped in with bar girls and hookers.
I've been here 15 years met many Thai women and dated them from all walk of life from bar girls to business owners and never found one of them that didn't want something from me. but I suppose you could include all women in that I think.
And you, as a man, never wanted anything from these women?
-
Guess something can be done about this. Thai girls have good teeth
So why do they need those awful braces?

It seems that every day now, some farang is found dead. Makes me wonder.
PHUKET: -- The body of an British man was found floating off of Koh Hae (Coral Island) yesterday afternoon (February 23). It is believed that the man had had a lot to drink the night before and had wondered into the sea.
Like 'wondering' into the sea.

He's a buffoon. There's no one Thai word for rolling pin, does that mean they don't exist in Thailand?
I bought one a while back, the label said "Rolling Flower"
I thought 'nah, that's a triffid'
Some words just don't cross cultural boundaries that well.
If the manufacturers knew enough English they could have called it "Rolling Flour".

Thais think and do many things differently – recently coined as thainess. How about inthaigrity?

Fed up listening to their intentions.
Just keep your mouth shut and DO something about road safety.
Nobody believes you any more.
This scenario is for public consumption with no substance.
"This scenario is for public consumption with no substance."
Doesn't that statement sum up just about everything that comes out of a government department just about anywhere in the world but particularly here in Thailand?
Not to mention certain parts of this Thai-centric forum!

Just give it time, Costas. Your beloved general is sorting everything out, isn't he?
Telling Thai gf how much I'm REALLY worth?

In Thailand, it's usually renting it, but you'll probably lose your deposit.
