I would never say there was no crime in Hua Hin; I do not think such places exist. But again: compared to some places I have been, I do not exactly very threatened. And I will now probably get mugged when I am there next week

Yes they can read.
Everyone carrying a smart phone reads FB messages daily. Maybe that's why you think they can't read , spotting a Thai reading an old fashioned book is a rare sight in 2015.
This. I manage a hotel catering to Westerners and I hardly ever see people reading printed media anymore.

I once made the mistake of looking up water-borne diseases in South East Asia. Not a good idea (I bike, run and Hash so end up in water quite often) and I chose to not take it to heart. 20 years later and I am still alive and kickin'.

If you ask most Thais they will tell you HH is a dangerous place, especially for females
My Thai friend, a lady, goes there every month, and she has never had anything happen.

I think most of the negativity here is based on two factors:
1. He has been accused of offences, for which he has yet to stand trial or even enter a plea.
I base it on this:
He has been charged with 10 counts of extortion, two counts of threatening violence, stalking and assault occasioning bodily harm in company.
He has also been charged with one count each of affray, enter dwelling with intent by break whilst armed in company, rioting (Broadbeach incident), breach of bail and five charges in relation to traffic offences.

Outrage? Where is it when influential figures chop down ship loads of trees for personal gain?
Doesn't make it right. I mean, many people commit murder, does it make it right for me to kill someone? Flawed logic.
Its a piece of wood for christ sake and the owner gave permission. If it were up to many of the nut cases in the world, everything would be organically grown, no additives, no killing of animals, no driving of vehicles etc.....you get what im sayingGiving a damn about the environment make me a nutcase, does it? And personally I would be more than happy if my food had no additives. Wonder who the nutcase is?

All these negative comments, all from people who know nothing about this guy at all..
He is charged with an offence, that's a long way from being convicted of it. He's innocent until found guilty remember.
You don't usually get to be Pres of a motorcycle club without being an exceptional man.
Of course, this man and other biker gangs live by a code of values that is alien to 99% of Thai Visa posters.
Best advice, if you don't know what you are talking about or have nothing constructive to add... just keep quiet.
Maybe you should take your own advice
The Bandidos have a well documented history of extortion, protection and murder and are well known to make their money from drug manufacturing and trafficking. They openly brag about their toughness and willingness to live the 1% lifestyle. To get to president he would have had to prove himself in most if not all of the previous activities or he would not be respected by members or the world wide organisation.
This. But I am guessing technolgybytes has notions of bing a big, bad ass biker....

And there FB page hasn't been updated since November.
I thought the food was decent for those rare times I fancy some pub grub but the service was hit and miss. Though this seems to be common with these English-styled Pubs; it is my pet hate at my regular, the Black Swan.

Mr Narayan Keita, 28, and Ms Tatyana Fadeyeva, 14.
French !!

At the Ambassador they probably very quickly found people speaking their language.
поправляйся to them anyway.
The gentlemen is from India though I do not see how that has anything to do with anything?

I have been to all the beaches in Thailand listed and I really think they are not all that bad. But of course the usual TV forum reflexes are kicking in.....

The one thing I would like to do is at least one a week is go and see a movie ..but good old Thailand ..where I live ..clearly is anti English language so No film is in the original soundtrack ... why has Thailand have such a bad attitude to English language ? ..
Really?
I've seen dozens of films here, all with the original English soundtrack.
Agreed. Been to cinemas plenty of times watching the original movies. As for the "why has Thailand have such a bad attitude to English language" comment: how many movies are shown in a foreign language in your country?

I have lived in HH for 9 years and whilst I do feel safe here it is certainly not as safe as some posters are saying
In the 9 years I have had 2 separate instances of sneak thieves entering my home.
Virtually all my friends have been the victim of crime here ranging from sneak house thieves to house robberies to bag snatches in the street, these have happened to both Thai and Farang friends
We feel safe because the vast majority of crime here is not reported in the press thus creating a false sense of security, the reality is there is plenty of crime here
Unprovoked street attacks are pretty rare though, no idea why that happened to the OP but he must have upset somebody
Sure there is crime. But as a visitor staying in a hotel I feel pretty safe. All relative I guess but I grew up in Africa and compared to that, Thailand is a haven of peace.

Something else I have heard several times but never seen before.
The ancestor of KFC the Red Junglefoul.
Phu Toi National Park
Really easy to see in some places. Khao Yai springs to mind.

What a joke. I am just waiting for the day one of those doped Tigers has a second of clarity and shreds a few tourists. Then the finger-pointing will begin.....

Thank you tangaroa:-). I promise I won't clutter this place with photos from Cambodia. Back in Thailand next week and will try my hand at night shots.

Something very similar here in Cambodia:

I am not sure you were. I used to work in Phan Thiet in Vietnam which is huge in Kitesurfing circles. Some people got serious air but not one of them came close to 100 meters (which I am guessing is what a stories building would be).
