  1. That would only encourage the use of cash for large transactions. Cash management requires more overhead, invites transaction errors whenever it changes hands or is counted, and is more easily stolen and laundered than electronic transactions. If I owned a business, I'd prefer all transactions over 1000 baht be done with a debit or credit card.

I think that if you did own a business you might be able to come up with a few equally compelling reasons why being paid in cash can be a good thing.

Not least of all the 4-7% fee payable to the credit card companies.

  2. Never underestimate the power of the old farts.

We can defend ourselves and our families and never are afraid or run away.

Beware of the old dogs, they can bite really hard.

This lesson was brought to you by a young...ish old fart.

I am pretty sure the guy has had tough jobs all his life and is hard as nails unlike the two city boys that tried to steal his stuff. I'd by him a beer if I ever met him.

  3. Whoever filled the complaint, I sympathize with him/her.

I wish I would file a report about my local Wat, that starts blaring their speakers from 5 in the morning.

But nobody will listen to me anywaysad.png

That's one of the reasons I'm moving to Pattayathumbsup.gif

Bit like moving to the Vatican and complaining about the church bells......

  4. Open the wiki link they have different dishes their names and ingredients.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Thai_dishes

    Awesome link deonvz.

Who woulda thunk such an exhaustive and descriptive coverage of Thai food could be found on Wikipedia. Not that wikipedia doesn't often have informative pages, but this is better than the average wiki page.

+1 That sucker's great! Thai script, good description, links to ingredients, and even a pronunciation Play button!

    +10.

  5. Just in my in my imagination: When it is full with fluid, isn't it shaking, fluid splashing inside?

Well you answered that question already, still it surprise me. I recall when I was on the way with heavy backpack every day both on the bicycle and on the mountain, I didn't know that it is there as well. It is just a matter to get used to it.

Thanks for sharing this......specially as I consider to run again, as well, just didn't get an idea where, yet.....

The bottles in front slosh more (I have two bottles in front with water and electrolytes) but even that I do not hear after some time. I run with music anyway:-)

But true, the running back-packs have come a long way. I still have an old Camelbak, the thing weighs a ton when empty.

Anyway, on the Ultras you have no choice as carrying a minimum of two liters of water is obligatory and I'd hat to carry that in my hands.

  6. ^^^ Good choice Hanno, however I prefer a FFL telephoto regardless of the cost.

    I also have Niks 70-200 @ 2.8 & their old 80-200 @2.8; built like a tank & weighs

as much, and can take knocks that will wreck that 70-200. The choice is really up

to the individual & what they wanna spend...in the end.

Agreed but I cannot justify cost or weight. There are no hides or such where I do most of my birding and I cannot lug a lens like that (plus tripod and gimbal head as well as bins, scope and assorted other stuff). If I were in Europe, I would consider it.

I have the Canon 70-210/2.8 which is one of my favorite pieces of glass.

  7. It is their holiday too

They have paid for the room(s)

    Let them enjoy their holiday/vacation/stay

Ever hear of mutual respect? I believe the main reason most people book a hotel is to sleep. I would never dream of complaining about a noisy oub or bar, that is what these venues are there for. But I go to my hotel to sleep, nothing more, nothing less.

  8. Robin Hood is the pub I frequent most when in Bkk!

Decent food, beer, wine and staff! wink.png

Don't go for the apple pie and custard at the Robin Hood though, it's horrible

The manager has a unique way of dealing with complaints on Trip Advisor!

Unique maybe, but not very professional.
