  1. It's true. I'm in a condo on Sukhumvit near Pattaya klang and have a view of the north East & West and as I type there is a haze and yes more noticeable at the evening time. Not sure what it is but have never seen it like this before.

  2. When you pass the fish market & park on your left, you keep going app. 200 meters and it's there on your left.

Thanks mate. Good info but is there a reason I would want to park 200m before the place if I'm on a bike or just no place to park there?

No you can find parking for a bike, no probs.

What I meant to say, there is a small park for walking next to the fish market.

55555 Actually it was me who mis-read your post. Park/Park same same. lmao Thanks again and enjoy

  3. Yes enjoy your trip and I hope everything goes well for you.

Sorry for my comment but I have never been to an island that doesn't have a 7-11. If a very small one then I'm sure you could have just bought a card from a 7-11 that would last you like 1000 baht etc.

This thread also helps others in the future who do a forum search with similar questions,

  4. Okay found a shop in Naklua that sells everything.

Bought 6 serious looking rockets for 590 baht and some very big roman candles as well.

The shop was filled with Thais also buying fire works big time, that shop is having a field day today.

Now we just wait but might do some test firing tonight.whistling.gif

Can you elaborate as to where this shop is please as I am sure that is what you were hoping for in your OP.

  5. I agree, the roads are already grid-locked with Bkk plates and as I'm close to Pattaya Klang that's what I go by. I'm not sure if they have things happening at Lake Maprachan or down around Golden Buddha Mountain?

If any of you folk living in those areas know about it please tell.

I've seen enough fireworks to last me 3 lifetimes and I feel like I want to stay home but at the same time do like to get into the spirit of it however like the OP says, I don't want all the havock of Balihi or WS, or Beach Rd.

  6. In my 5 baht opinion, I feel that a fast "snap" election is the best way and if they try to delay the Feb. 2nd election that will only give each side more time to stratogize vote buying and more corruption.

If the just have the election on Feb. 2nd it would barely give Thaksin a chance to set up buying votes (as that's what many are worried about) and also if I'm not wrong, didn't the UN say they would help "police" the election and try to make it as least corrupt as can be?

An election in Thailand will always be corrupt so why not just have a fast one and make it as least corrupt as can be, let the people vote and get on with life?

  7. Here is the difference using your argument regarding uk. If the public works dug holes and did not protect the public they would be sued and loose. Here it is just accepted. It is not just foreigners who get injured in these dangerous holes. It would be interesting to actually know how many injuries have happened unnecessarily on sidewalks.

We don't want Pattaya (or Thailand for that matter) to be like the UK. That is why we are here and not in the UK or our home countries.

  8. Policing would only work if there was a cop stationed at every soin coming off of beach rd as there are so many entry points how could the police stop everyone at every point.

I also don't believe that speed bumps will do any good. It is difficult enough to navigate your way down beach rd anyways with all the baht busses, tour buses, people crossing the road etc. This is why I try to avoid this rd on my bike. It's not like you are taking the "scenic" route on a bike because you can't take your eyes off the rd and traffic for even one split second anyways.

I would prefer to see 2nd rd made into a two-way street and not allow baht buses or tour buses along beach rd. That might make it a decent place to cruise down.

  9. Queen Sirikit IS a good hospital really and great prices. if there is any wait for a Naval person or a Thai prson then they will take care of them first however that is not meant to be a negative statement.
