Why not just get it caught up? If you get stopped by an individual, it might be a small fine. If you get stopped at a checkpoint, it will likely turn into a big PITA.

I would be very surprised if you do not get a refund. I had something turned around at customs and the order was automatically cancelled and the charge reversed. I’ve received two orders in the last 30 days without issue. A few times I have gotten partial refunds on the duty.

Amazon's shipping terms are delivered duty paid. I the item has not been delivered, they have not met the terms of the agreement, and should return your money. That said, if the seller (not Amazon) shipped it, all bets are off.

Cancel the order and ask for a refund. I can’t speak for the UK, but Amazon in the US is pretty easy to work with. Amazon shipped it, and charged you for tax and duty, yes?
