I take it from your answer, SeaVisionBurma, that Skype is pretty much out of the question in most of these place?

Okay so a pre-approved tourist visa it is.
Will I be able to travel to the South Coast Delta area on this visa?
Thanks for your help.

I was thinking about along the delta area, so Ngwe Saung, Chaungtha etc?

Elektrified, I can speak a bit of Thai, but this sort of language is outside of my knowledge.

Thanks Masuk, they have already been contacted. Are there any others?

Hi there, does anyone know of any reliable and cheap transportation companies in Chiang Mai?
Thanks in advance.

I have a single entry tourist visa which is valid for two months and is extendable for an extra 30 days, I wish to use this visa to its maximum. So, how long can I book my return ticket for? I have heard that I could be refused entry or turned away from my flight if I do not have a visa that is valid for the entire duration of my stay!
Thanks in advance,
B

I see, thanks. I'll get a visa!

I have recently heard that UK immigration are stopping people from flying to Thailand if their visa doesn't cover the duration of their stay, for example, if you have booked a return flight that means you will be in LOS 31 days, you will not be allowed to fly as you can only be issued a 30 voe visa in Thailand. Is this correct and, if it is, does it affect other visas i.e. tourist visas? I thought that if you had a tourist visa you could fly into LOS on a single ticket, with no predetermined return date.

Good, but not as good as the 'Government plan to put Thai man in space' thread.

I have 4mb of internet speed but can still rarely make video calls on Skype and, sometimes, cannot even make audio calls.
I live in a condo complex and am aware that I share my connection, but why am I paying for the extra bandwidth (normally 2mb) and still getting shitty results?
Are there any settings I can make on my computer to speed my internet up before I go and let lose on the management?
If there are, it would save any red faces.
Thanks in advance,

24 hours would be fairly normal --- maybe 48 on occasion.
Thanks, do you know the process

Every Thai Immigration Office throughout Thailand will be closed Monday the 18th to observe the Holiday alternate observance date.
Open on Tuesday 19th. Offices will accept all documents due on the 18th submitted on the 19th without penalty as if they are turned in on the 18th.
If turned in on the 20th will be considered 2 days late.
So this means all border crossings as well?

Hi All,
I've just been told that Chiang Mai immigration is closed until Tuesday. Does this mean Mae Sai is also closed?
Thanks in advance,

Crossing at Chiang Khong to Ban Houei Sai in Laos easy, but you'd still need to pay the baht 1500+-, or $35 (better) for a Visa On Arrival. Do some shopping then back to C. Khong. Nice enough drive, tho.
Don't believe Ban Houak crossing further south in C. Kham is open to foreigners as yet. Last time I stopped by, which I must admit was several years ago, they said it was only for Thai and Lao and then just a couple days a week. If/when it does open, would be a nice way to drive over to the Xieng Lom/Xieng Hon valley, then on to Hong Sa and Luang Prabang. Or, turn north at Muang Nguen and cross the Mekong River, then over to Pak Beng, and on to Oudomxay, choice there, turn right to Luang Prabang, or left back to Nam Tha and Ban Houei Sai and C. Khong. Or return to Thailand at Muang Nguen and down to Nan Province.

Thanks, I'll go to Chiang Khong.

Hi all, I need to do a visa run. I am going by car but was wondering how much it would cost to go to Chiang Saen or Chiang Khong (sorry not Chiag Kham)? I don't really like going to Mai Sai and would like to try another way.
Thanks.

I had a guy crash into the back of my bike, he gave me his phone number. When I called with the price of the damage he said he didn't have any money. That was that!
Now I would insist on some money up front.

There are many in Chiang Mai, try 'fine thanks' for good looking waitresses. Phew!

Actually my g/f doesnt care about having it in her name, every time I asked to put it in my name she never got angry or anything and asked the guy at the showroom and it was him who didnt want to put it in my name.
Will ask today about the insurance and at the moment I only have a UK driving licence. Do I need a thai driving licence? Is there any benefits of getting one and is it really needed?
'She never got angry' did she smile? When she asked the salesman about the registration, was the conversation in Thai?
How long were you with your gf before getting her pregnant? In fact, how long were you in Thailand before any of this happened? I would guess that you hadn't been her for very long? Correct?

I must be missing something.
Someone named Fred said he owned the bar and wanted payment. Then a girl turns up and says that she owns the bar.
If that is correct then I too wouldn't be so keen to pay. But then again, I'm not so sure I've understood what happened correctly.
Fred owns the bar with his wife Joy, and yes, I believe the story 100%.

Thank you very much for your help, I think I am now on the right track.
