favoured tourist destination over Thailand is attributed to a weaker currency
If you are exchanging US dollars or Euros, sure. Almost cheaper than Thailand.
It's something that Thailand does forget. Much more tourists are attracted to places that are cheaper and offers more.

Well that eliminates 99.99 percent of all the old tatted up geezers that come to Thailand for them.
The "survey", for lack of a better word, does not mention anything about foreigners.
No reason to feel anything about this since it doesn't concern us. Unless you are Thai...
I only made fun of the story as, again, it doesn't involve us foreigners.

Can't wait for the thai women survey.
This just in; thai women prefer thai men to be min. 180cm, min. 100,000฿ per month, mercedes or bmw car, fair skin, non smoking, doesn't drink, doesn't gamble, takes care of children ( free babysitting)...

If it does happen, Thailand will finally be able to boast that there is 22 good drivers on thai roads.
Only there for a few days a year but let's not get bogged down by details.

I had to check my calendar to see if today is April 1st. Who wouldn't after reading this.

My question is, how did he get 500 euro notes? I tried at my local DeutscheBank and was told that they were not in circulation... I guess they are still available in other countries?

has called on ministers to make visa provisions for foreign tourists more flexible and user-friendly while also marketing the kingdom’s legalisation of medical marijuana or pot
Hmmm. Maybe IF he was to give said pot to the ministers, they would become more flexible and user-friendly. Food for thought.

A step in the right direction. Good thing I haven't booked my ticket yet.
Then again, it's Thailand. Next week they will propose something else...

Better to wait for the SHA+ and ASQ hotels scams to be abolished and the borders to be open like the majorities of other countries before entering Thailand.
I liked the last line of the original article where they use the term "detained" to describe the present situation.

Didn't I hear a joke somewhere that goes like "If you want to live in Thailand with 1 million baht, you must first bring 5 million baht with you."
The idea that 1 million foreigners will come and generate 5 to 6% of the country's GDP seems like number/scheme provided by TAT... or weed has finally been legalized.

I had to read the whole thing because the last time I said "Let's go halves." she looked at me like I was some alien. Never-mind that it was just a plain ordinary day.
Good thing I read the article before showing to her...

So, it's not quarantine but it's imposed on you. Which makes it feel like it's almost a quarantine...
I'd rather wait for the country to be fully open and stay at a lodging of my choosing, giving my money to the locals who really need it and not those who bow to the powers that be.

On the bright side; if you are vaccinated and are forced to quarantine in their so-called "safe" ASQ, you won't be infected by the virus. Only your wallet and your dignity will be infected.

The only thing I read from this is bla bla bla "Dollar weakens, Baht up" bla bla bla. regardless of who wins.
So, essentially, it's not encouraging news for foreign tourists or existing ex-pats.

And next in the news,
TAT and Thai Immigration has announced a new tourist visa for foreigners wishing to visit the country. Get vaccinated and stay 1 month visa free. Get 3 vaccinations and get 1 night free at any participating hotel.

That may be true but I somehow doubt that the Ferrari branded murder weapon was paid by his own earned money. He may not work for TCP but he sure knows how to spend TCP money.

I still don't understand what "Alzheimer" and "Thai Immigration" have to do with each other. Someone suffering from Alzheimer will not get a free pass from immigration, right? So why the screaming headlines about an Alzheimer patient being forced out of Thailand? The two have nothing to do with each other.
Don't get me wrong. I sympathize with the daughter as I, myself, left Thailand to take care of my step-father who is also suffering from Alzheimer. But I would never use his ailment of as a mean to vent my frustration at a situation that is not to my liking.

Sunburn Nightmare: British Teen’s Thailand Trip Derailed by Sun

500 baht, she is lucky.
I share her pain.
Long sleeves, long pants and stayed in the shade but I neglected my feet with regular sandals. 2nd degree burns, blisters and swollen as if I had gout. You learn that lesson once and it's enough.
