What kind of dog did this? A great dane, an Irish wolfhound...? Would hate to come across one of those during a night stroll.

Now, how many people are Googling "International Road Laws + long convoys" ?

Just now, webfact said:
many Thais just said - "Oh, that's all right then!"
Malaysian ignoring Thai laws
Thai ignoring Thai laws (if they knew them in the first place)
Thai police not knowing Thai laws (or enforcing them if they did know them)
And then they wonder why they are ranked in the top 5 worst countries for driving...

A combined force of police and soldiers rounded up 50 prostitutes
A mere drop in the bucket. I guess these were all walkers and not associated with any bars? Because we all know that bar-girls are not prostitutes...right?

Why ask if they agree to raising the taxes if the government is going to do it anyways.
Reminds me of a Monthy Python sketch - Answer only "Yes" or "No" - Have you stopped beating your wife?
Either way, you will end up paying for it.

I am going to go hoard all the playing cards from BigC.

Am I reading this right? Playing cards?
Excuse me while I rush of to BigC and stock up on playing cards.

a scheme to get more "hi-end" women to come to Pattaya
Wait a sec! Isn't that called "human trafficking"?
Ah, I get it now. Since it's from TAT it's called "operation re-populate Pattaya".

Hmmm....seems to be missing something. Oh yes, it's missing the flag bearing tour leader with the 50 odd Chinese tourists follow behind, spiting on the road and gawking at everything.
Otherwise, it looks like any other street we come across everywhere in the world. Bland and boring.

following charges: Reckless driving causing the death of another person; reckless driving causing damages to another person; did not stop to aid the injured person and did not report to the officials; driving under the influence of alcohol causing the death of another person; and, driving more than the allowed speed limit.
Replace all of that with 2 words "Cop Killer" and see how fast Interpol finds him. In certain states in America, those 2 words alone is enough to have half of the police force frothing at their mouths.

What kind of fight could you possibly get with Jesus and Buddha?
Buddha: I am against violence.
Jesus: That's ok. I would of offered my other cheek anyways... How about a nice game of scrabbles?

Region 2 police are hunting for the gunman and have not ruled out road rage, a problem over a woman or a financial dispute, reported Thai Rath.
In other words, the 3 usual culprits. Always jumping to conclusions.

Smart move by the pharmacist to recognize a scam.
Let's hope the pharmacist was smart enough to give the kid a super strong laxative.

I,m not defending the delivery driver for one minute but how often do I see all manner of vehicles with flashing lights speeding down the road, its difficult to tell sometimes whether it actually is an ambulance or a police escort for nothing more than a few coach parties/dignitaries on a jolly
That is the heart of the problem here in Thailand. Since the fines are so low and Thai people do not respect the police - thay think it's cool and perfectly OK for them to put flashing lights on their vehicles. Which in turns confuses all the other drivers that know to respect "right of way" laws.
-
Only 500baht? That isn't even considered as a fine but, only an annoyance.
Thais truly don't understand the concept of fines in order to stop people from keeping doing the wrong things. Add a zero or two at the end of these fines and maybe, just maybe, the Thais will finally understand what is a "fine" and start to drive like normal people.

I fear that the army will need to do this every week until it sink into their little heads. Otherwise, the taxis and baht-bus will continue to do as they please.

If I was unconscious, I would not care. On the other hand, regaining consciousness while on meds inside said ambulance may cause additional psychological trauma...
Why is this thing staring at me? OMG, they're everywhere and they are all staring at me with their creepy eyes and malicious smiles!!! Let me out! Let me out! Let me out!!!

Have they asked Interpol yet or will they blunder this the same way as the RedBull heir? Will they remember to translate the request and fill out the proper forms?
This should buy her a few months to come up with a spin story...
-
I guess this is what they meant by "Amazing Thailand". Where cop-killers can walk away somewhat freely if they fit certain conditions...
-
I don't know where these people got their figures. Seems to be the same people who work for TAT since the figures smell like it was pulled out from their a$$es.
In Montreal, Canada, there are plenty of bars that sell beer for 3 to 4$CDN. Same thing in NYC and some places that I have been to in Paris as well. But the average price of beer in a farang owned bar in Pattaya starts at 80baht up wards to 200baht with some places being even more expensive. Most Thai bars for the locals are better priced.

Love the "or Competent Officials" bit at the top. Can have a field day with just that one alone.

This was done to death a week ago
Exactly. I was hoping (bad thing to do in Thailand) that this would be a follow up on this old story.
Something like...social service stepped in and took the child away from the parents who since have been interrogated by the police and sentenced to undergo anger management and vasectomy on both parties. Well, so much for hope...
-
The licenses may go up to international standards level but the drivers still remain at international disaster level.
-
Maybe they should explain what THEY think is a "misdeed" first.
Otherwise, I could drag my beach chair to any given street corner and make a few thousands per day... At least until immigration puts this on their "Occupations reserved for Thais" list.

500baht.
Who called it?
Yesterdays post, someone said 500 and everybody agreed. How predictable can they be...
This might become a side hobby for TV members - predicting amounts of fines.
