  1. Had one in the UK, never used the heater, but on a cold winter evening with the central heating turned up it provided a real warming effect. Actually thought about shipping one out to Thailand, but instead have built a real log fire place, ready for those

    "chilly" Thai winters.

"TESCO"   Two years ago the wife and I financed a Ford through Tesco Bank.   My wife signed for the loan and I showed my account balance at the bank.

4 rai for 45 million baht in burirum? Really hard to believe since it would be the most expensive non bkk land in the country....my guess 4.5 million IF choice land..put it on par with CM farm lands...

Try Khao Yai  currently15-20 million baht for one rai.

  4. Khao Yai being subjected to the same rain deluges as elsewhere, whilst still accessible by car there is plenty of standing water around on many of the approach roads. Right now prefer to go out with my big SUV boots on. Not to alarm you  further, but got call from a neighbour this morning who had managed to park his 4x4 in a ditch.

As everyone (a rough guess) who has built here, and had to leave during the build, would say out loud...you must be here for the build.  Things don't happen the same if you, not your wife, are not here.

    'Thailand building code 101'

Was on site for my entire build, apart from avoiding some very simple but potentially disastrous misinterpretations by the builders, it had one supreme benefit. It enabled me to make numerous changes to the plan as we went along.

Sheepishly apologised to my builder about this one day and he said it was perfectly normal, Thai owners being the worst at changing their minds....several times.

  6. When my missus had her Fiesta in for its last service they came up with a itemised quote of around B5,000, which she was going to be  quite happy to sign off until I grabbed the quote and made her go through it item by item and tucked  away was a B1,000 charge for a full engine clean for a spotless motor, among several other non-essential items. The revised bill ended up at about B3,500.

  7.

Short changed........stopped off to fill up at my local PTT gas station yesterday,

the guy put in 500 baht worth of diesel then walked off.

Called him back and asked if he would like me to pay....the satang dropped after

a couple of seconds and he sheepishly took my money.
