Had one in the UK, never used the heater, but on a cold winter evening with the central heating turned up it provided a real warming effect. Actually thought about shipping one out to Thailand, but instead have built a real log fire place, ready for those
"chilly" Thai winters.

"TESCO" Two years ago the wife and I financed a Ford through Tesco Bank. My wife signed for the loan and I showed my account balance at the bank.

Must leave you short for your bus fare home.....

Superb day out, extremely well organised. Was on the back of a tractor trailer with a bunch of school kids when we turned the corner into a field of fully open sunflowers.....the collective gasp was something else.

The "application" form on Bruce 404 post appears to be different from the original one that still comes up when I check the website...has there been a change?

4 rai for 45 million baht in burirum? Really hard to believe since it would be the most expensive non bkk land in the country....my guess 4.5 million IF choice land..put it on par with CM farm lands...
Try Khao Yai currently15-20 million baht for one rai.
-
Khao Yai being subjected to the same rain deluges as elsewhere, whilst still accessible by car there is plenty of standing water around on many of the approach roads. Right now prefer to go out with my big SUV boots on. Not to alarm you further, but got call from a neighbour this morning who had managed to park his 4x4 in a ditch.

Curious, happily able to buy booze at Tesco and Tops today, when fully expecting a ban on such a significant day.

it's a piece of information i wanted to share - and if just one reader here remembers, the next time he's in a similar situation - purpose is served :)
Yes, we all have to be eternally grateful to Chris.
The only real purpose this has served is to confirm to immigration that the farang is indeed stupid....thanks a lot

Mmm . . . what awaits this brave officer: promotion or prison. What's the betting it'll be decided by him and his boss, Srivara, playing rock-paper-scissors. That way, no-one's responsible . . . sounds junta perfect.
Or the harshest punishment of all.
Oh no, have mercy, not.......transfer to an inactive post.

As everyone (a rough guess) who has built here, and had to leave during the build, would say out loud...you must be here for the build. Things don't happen the same if you, not your wife, are not here.
'Thailand building code 101'
Was on site for my entire build, apart from avoiding some very simple but potentially disastrous misinterpretations by the builders, it had one supreme benefit. It enabled me to make numerous changes to the plan as we went along.
Sheepishly apologised to my builder about this one day and he said it was perfectly normal, Thai owners being the worst at changing their minds....several times.

Not for the purests no doubt, but its Drambuie for me, but have yet to find it in Thailand, so its a duty free import job.

What about the tax hike on wine gums.....no, I would not put it past them
-
If you are thinking of an extra room downstairs do it now.
Was in a similar position during my house build, asked the
builder for a quote and he said B20,000, easy for him all
the materials and labour were already on site....saves a
whole mess later on.
-
Pajero Sport.......oh dear, those rear lights
-
When my missus had her Fiesta in for its last service they came up with a itemised quote of around B5,000, which she was going to be quite happy to sign off until I grabbed the quote and made her go through it item by item and tucked away was a B1,000 charge for a full engine clean for a spotless motor, among several other non-essential items. The revised bill ended up at about B3,500.

Let's get this right, your extension was not refused, you simply failed the required criteria to make an application....give immigration a break for once.

Poster describes himself as a long term resident yet goes out and buys an
expensive printer, when all he had to do was save to a thumb drive and
go down to his local print shop.
And......1000B to get across town?
-
Short changed........stopped off to fill up at my local PTT gas station yesterday,
the guy put in 500 baht worth of diesel then walked off.
Called him back and asked if he would like me to pay....the satang dropped after
a couple of seconds and he sheepishly took my money.
-
Damn, I missed out on that....the missus has been looking for a plot to build an Isaan style house

Thanks....guessed the info will be on the database, but no doubt will get a lecture on always keeping the slip in my passport.
