Have a Google at - Blood pressure for over 60s.

"Hi-so places, obtrusively chic places and faux European countryside places"
Oh dear......
-
You don't seem to be aware that the medical profession has raised
the blood pressure bar and that for over 60s a reading of 150/90
is the new accepted norm.

Was up in Isaan last week and all more or less back to normal dress code….smoking jacket in the morning, white flannels and blazer in the afternoon and black tie for dinner.

That is indeed interesting, and indicates that he uses Thai logic, because q-con blocks are load bearing while the red bricks are crap.
Interesting indeed. Picked up a q-con block
and it practically crumbled in my hand.

Have just completed a house build up the road from Saraburi in the great Kao Yai. Had a quality builder who met and exceeded every request I made, including building a chimney stack and open hearth fireplace.
He has a great team of workers who have stayed with him for many years. While building my house he was also working on a contract to build the new Dusit Thani D2 hotel in Kao Yai.
Interesting point on Q-con blocks, asked him if he would be using these as see more house being built with them. But he said he would use red bricks as these provided better quality and greater strength.
You are welcome to take at look at the finished article and can show other properties he has completed.

I used to make a nice banana jam that always turned out well.
I make lime curd every week.
1 cup white sugar
1/3 cup lime juice (From a bottle)
3 eggs (Beaten)
Mix them all together in a metal or heatproof bowl.
Put the bowl on a saucepan of simmering water (Bain marie or double boiler)
Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until it thickens and coats the back of the spoon (Around 5 mins)
Remove from the heat and stir in 60gms of butter.
Let it cool a bit before putting it into a jar.
The peach chutney sounds good, I'll have to give it a go.
Assume you can do same for lemon curd, which I am crazy for.

Post 1 it's the misses that's worried post 5 it's the OP
It's the OP that's worried about his motor having
a distinct bow in the middle, as to the boot always
told the missus to put heavy stuff in the footwells,
lower centre of gravity etc.
-
She's got plenty of porky friends......but my concern is that this
was 50kgs of deadweight loaded on one point, can't have done
much for the rear end suspension.
Then again, I'm forgetting Thai logic, her Fiesta being far better
equipped to handle heavy loads than my feeble Vigo truck.
-
Someone tell me it is perfectly OK to load
a Fiesta Sport with a 50kg sack of salt in
the rear footwell.....my missus is about to
meet her maker.

Yeah right, a clear wi-fi signal would be my first consideration
in making any move.
These so-called digital nomads live a virtual life on line, so
their real location is irrelevant.

"My situation is I do the extension with the 800k in the bank and I own my house in a corporate name. The documents I needed were:
Extension Application Form
2 Photos
Bank Letter certifying balance
Pages of Bank Book showing past 3 months entries (and Name page)
Thai DL copy
Copy last months electric bill (to show address. This was easier than last year in that I had to dig up some of my corporate papers to show I was the Director or whatever of my company that owns my house/residence.)
Foreign National Information Form
1900 baht"
No need for passport then, only a Thai DL....

Think it is slightly more complicated if your change of address involves a change of
province and therefore change of immigration office.
My recent move involved moving from helpful friendly Lop Buri immigration back into
the clutches of the dreaded Korat. Ushered into a separate office to do the change of
address no problem. Back out to do my 90 day report, TM47(yes),copy of wife's tabian
baan(yes), copy wife's ID(yes) and then...want to look marriage certificate.
Afraid I went ballistic for failing once to bring the kitchen sink with me, insisting that as I
was on a retirement extension my marital status had nothing to do with 90 day reporting.
They were having nothing of it and brought out that favourite long-playing record, "have
new boss, have new rules." So back a week later after medication and everyone was sweet
and charming, mentioning that for all future 90 day reports in person I would have to submit
the same paperwork(and marriage certificate), until my next extension.
Another lesson learned.

Misterphil This could be your lucky day.
Not sure why you want to live in an expat
community, but I currently live in Australia
village Muak Lek, which as mentioned is
next to what is now known as Asia Pacific
University, so a fair smattering of expats
in the village.
The good news is am about to vacate my
full-on European style rented house
(two years old) within the next month
if you are interested, otherwise several
other properties available.

On my first visit to my wife's village I was openly
referred to as the "farang", but this gradually
changed on further visits to use of my first name
even when talking among themselves.
Thought this was real progress, but then realised
they were using this as a means to show that they
were big mates with the farang.

Travel to Lopburi from up the road purely because it is my local immigration
reporting office. But there is something weird, almost uncomfortable, about
the place which I can't quite put my finger on, never quite feels like am still
in Thailand

"Aha. I do have a lot of time on my hands. On "another forum" I've got 12,000 posts."
No doubt you are regarded with the same high esteem on that forum too.

Need a pinned thread: Foreigners found dead today.
Or several really.
Today's road accidents.
Today's ex pat jumpers.
Today's gun murders and slayings.
It's a sad reflection of the way the place is going.
Rather an alarming sign that Farangs have become easy targets for criminals.
They know they will get away with it!
He not a farang.

"So, I am staying at Hilton Sukhumvit...."
Methinks this is the whole point of his post

Get the impression the site, like its human counterpart Somchai
at immigration, suffers easily from system overload. Have tried
to report during daytime and been rebuffed, but got through
when tried in the wee early hours.
-
...". the supply of tap water to celebration sites will be restricted to certain hours".
Pretty clear what the strategy is going to be then.......simply turn off the taps.
Online 90 day reporting available from April 1st
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

A question for you Joe if I may...
Made my last 90-day report on line back in October, but was unable to print out the next date report slip. But kept a note of the confirmation report reference number and my next due reporting date, expecting, of course, to do it on line.
Now with the current situation faced with the prospect of having to make a report in person without the previous slip. Just wondering how much hassle will get and which is the best way to go.. ...could not print out previous slip or "lost" it.
