Did mine less than 2 weeks ago there.  Once the extension was approved, lady gave me the business about leaving the 800k intact until the first 90 day report, and then the new 400k low limit thereafter.  She didn't specifically say I had to bring my bank book to the 1st 90-day report, but it was implied.  No mention of another bank letter.

To avoid the potential of being turned away at the 90-day check, will take the bank book and get it updated on the way out there.  ????

…...And if you do 90-day report online?

  2. Mr Scratch:

"At my next 90 Day report I should go to my Krungsri Bank and get the same account bank book that I used for my extension application made up and that for a duration of 90 days after my retirement extension application I was not to withdraw any money from that Krungsri Bank account. I was to show the 90 Day report IO my made up bank book at the same time I did my 90 Day report."

Curious.....not to withdraw any money from you bank account. The official line is you need to retain at least 800,000k for the 90-day post seasoning and have access to anything above that.

  3. Hey Mr Scratch, you are the cause of all this confusion with your earlier post regarding your renewal extension experience at Korat.

Can you confirm that you were told to report back in 90 days to show you still had 800,00k in your account, were you given a note with a reporting date?

When I did my extension they simply told me to come back next year when they would check my bank book to see if it met the new requirements.

OK have just seen you latest post....

    Nothing for KK immigration.

So far only Jomtien immigration has given a date to go back in 3 months with a updated bank book to prove the 800k baht is still in the bank.

Joe this is a quote from post made by Mr Scratch on Mar 20 relating to his extension experience at Korat, which has caused the confusion.

"The Lady IO did say that on my ( first ) next 90 Day report I should go to my Krungsri Bank and get the same account bank book that I used for my extension application made up and that for a duration of 90 days after my retirement extension application I was not to withdraw any money from that Krungsri Bank account. I was to show the 90 Day report IO my made up bank book at the same time I did my 90 Day report. "

  5. Did my retirement extension at Korat in mid-Feb for March 10 renewal. Asked if I needed to return in three moths to prove still had 800,000k in the account. Was told, no need, they would check my bank book when I did my next renewal. Have since heard reports from folks being told that they did need to return  after three months. If I do need to report is it with just an updated bank book and no bank letter.

My extension was made soon after the new requirements were announced so have a feeling Korat immigration may have "clarified" matters since then.

  6. Have been doing retirement extensions at Korat for last nine years and as it takes me one and half hours to get there have always obtained bank letter and update the day before, no problem until last month when I got the "must be same day" mantra.

Thankfully they are a fairly friendly bunch and managed to get a "OK, next time" let off.

Curiously, no mention of coming back in three months to show B800,000 still in account.

I love THAI Airways. Not the cheapest but nice service direct between LHR/BKK twice daily. Only ever book economy flex fares but frequently upgraded at no extra cost. First and business is always well subscribed with well connected freeloading Thai HiSos. I love economy (especially TG916) as more often than not get 3 seats for myself.

Three seats to yourself.....doesn't that tell you something.

I've always got my bank statement & letter on the morning I've applied for my extension, but I've been told it can a day or two old.  They have also wanted an up-to-date copy of the passbook, and you can do this yourself at many "ATM"s.

Did my retirement extension at Korat on Friday and for the first time in nine years got pulled up because my bank letter was dated the previous day. Very friendly about it and said "next time" has to be same day.

Struck me though, that with the new regs, they must realise that I am not going to mess up my next extension by letting the account drop below 800K for the next three months.
