Hardly. I intend to use the Phuket Sandbox myself, and would love it to succeed.
So I'm not going to be dancing around with happiness when new rules are invented that make the process more expensive and more restrictive.

He's talking about the arrivals on the 1st of July, not the 30th of June. Have a look on flightradar, there's no international flights arriving in Phuket today:

From the article:
Quote“After arriving at the airport, they must have their temperature checked. Then they need to present documents and go through the immigration and customs processes. Then they will be RT-PCR tested and directly go the hotel they have booked.
“At the hotel, they are not allowed to leave their rooms until the test result has been issued and the result is negative. They will be tested again on day 6/7 and day 12/13. If a tourist is found infected, hotel staff must inform the contracted hospital to come and pick the tourist up. All the cost of treatment must be paid by themselves [the travellers],” Gov Narong said.
I hope the test results come back in a matter of hours rather than days ...

I'm referring to my experiences with PCR tests in my home country, which have generally taken 2-3 days to be processed.
If Thailand is doing guaranteed PCR test results within 24 hours, that's great news. Although even a day locked in my hotel room wouldn't exactly be welcome.

Stockpile in Japan estimated at 30 million doses, which will expire by September.
Hopefully they ship this soon. Should be enough for ~ 5 days vaccinations here.
It will make an impact in Thailand - as well as in Indonesia, Malaysia, The Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam etc. Ultimately, though, Thailand need to make their own arrangements.
Actions speak louder than words ????

Of course they did they are part of the government roll out the same as other private hospitals, if you booked on mor prom app you could have selected it for free vaccinations if in Bkk. Odd that Thailand are accepting charity AZ, while at the same time they are meant to be producing their own in large enough amounts to to sell to other countries
Well, it's "only" 1.05 million doses - a very substantial and generous donation, but Thailand are projected to produce 200 million doses of AZ in 12 months from their factory, 61 million of which will go to Thais.
Still, 1.05 million doses right now are very valuable for Thailand.

No way to know this. But it would make sense to give away these as they are older.
Is this "re-gifting"?
Japan signed a deal with AZ and two local partners, Daiichi Sankyo and KM Biologics, to produce 120 MM doses in Japan.
Vaccine can last up to 6 months.
Well, it's a matter of record that they have tens of millions of doses of AZ bought from the US months ago. The 120M doses to be "locally produced" are being manufactured from US source materials.
It's entirely possible that Asian countries (including Thailand) will be offered substantial amounts of Japanese-manufactured AZ at cost price, should Japan have enough Pfizer and Moderna for their own populace.

But farangs who test positive in the so-called "Phuket Sandbox" have to spend their own money to stay in a Thai hospital for 15 days. I see ????

The U.S. never approved it and has been giving away 60 million doses.
Probably part of the freebies from the U.S.
Nice of Japan to share it.
From what I've read, Japan were supposed to get their AZ deliveries in January from the EU. But the EU blocked those exports, so Japan went to the US who were able to export some of their AZ to Japan in March. The US didn't start talking about giving away their AZ stocks until June if my memory serves me correctly.
I'm pretty sure that Japan are giving away their own paid-for and delivered AZ vaccines ????
Looking forward to the US's own AZ giveaway, although apparently they only have 60 million doses to donate, and I'm sure South America will be the main beneficiary.

If you were to look at the figures for covid infections & deaths in Oz & NZ, you might have a better understanding of why they have been a bit slow on the vaccinations. Being remote islands is helpful.
Quite apart from the EC stealing millions of AZ doses early on that were destined for Oz ...
I know how impressive the covid stats are for Aus and NZ, well done ????
But I'm not sure it entirely justifies the sluggish vaccination roll-out in the southern hemisphere

Normal Thais are the salt of the earth.
Yes, they are. One time many years ago. I broke down late at night at a gas station, several km from my house. A friendly Thai stranger came up to me, we could barely understand each other, but he helped me to move my bike to a friend's house 15 minutes away, who owned a garage.
30 minutes later, they'd fitted some new mechanical parts to my bike at 11PM at night, and charged me some ridiculously small amount like 300 baht. Friendly guy would not accept anything.
Another time I had come off my bike. Another friendly Thai stranger took me to a pharmacy and bought me antiseptic and bandages. He absolutely would not accept my money.

Vaccination overviewThe Antipodean politicians are too busy bragging about what a great job they've done about covid to bother with minor details like vaccinating their populations.
Never mind, they are only about a year behind the other western nations.

54 minutes ago, faraday said:Why is AZ being donated, when there is SB allegedly producing it?
Japan imported tens of millions of doses of AZ from the US in March, which have a limited shelf life. Since they don't plan on using it themselves, donating them to other Asian countries seems like a sensible plan.

Not really. Several countries have decided not to use all of their supplies of AZ, or to limit their use to certain age groups. This is linked to the widely-publicised blood clotting issue
Does this mean that the AZ vaccine is worthless? No. If it is a choice between AZ, a less effective vaccine, or no vaccine at all, AZ is incredibly valuable.

As you might have expected, there's a couple of final last minute additions to the rules. Having to stay in the hotel until you get the first PCR test results is a pretty spectacular one, given that the tests often take 2-3 days to return a result.
Remember when you could do ASQ for only 7 days in Bangkok if you'd been vaccinated? (They scrapped it in May). That deal was way better than the current Phuket Sandbox IMO.
