Thailand has one of the worst per capita death tolls in the world - maybe 24,000 to 26,000 per annum - and 70-80% of that is from motorcyclists, notes Thaivisa.
But Thailand's death toll per vehicle is only 93rd in the world. To give an example, South African drivers are more than twice as likely to die as Thai drivers - they have 133 deaths per 100,000 vehicles compared to Thailand's 60 deaths per 100,000 vehicles.

Construction workers... read Burmese and Cambodian workers! I mean, the new variant didn't get to Thailand on 2 legs and these workers are most likely not subjected to 14 days quarantine when they cross the border... In the end it all comes down to the greed of the construction companies!
I thought all Burmese and Cambodian migrant workers would be quarantining for 2 weeks at luxury hotels?
Increasing the quarantine period to 4 weeks for vaccinated Western tourists should stop this happening again. The previous increase from 1 week to 2 weeks was obviously not effective.

Ruling nothing out’: Coronavirus fight takes worrying turn in UK
As Britain opens up and puts the worst of the pandemic behind it, a disturbing trend has dampened the optimistic mood.
Cases of the Indian coronavirus variant have risen by 152 per cent in the UK in the space of a week.
Covid infections overall are at their lowest for 9 months at 1,500 a day. Deaths are at their lowest since the start of the pandemic at 7 a day.
Give it a couple of weeks and see if this new variant gains any real traction in the UK.

I always wondered whether Yinn was Thai or farang. I think I could manage to do her Thai-style broken English ???? I couldn't put in the hours required though. Is she still posting?

Maybe you are old, fat and ugly and in fact male, so a pretty picture that represents someone else entirely attracts some curiosity
Sometimes, this is referred to as "clickbait"
Well, "old, fat ugly and male" isn't entirely correct - maybe 1 or 2 of those adjectives apply ????
I very much enjoyed your thread about "My Exalted Thai Wife" - well done on finding such a remarkable wife.

Problem is if that flight routes via Qatar and is not direct, on return to UK you have to do government hotel quarantine I believe, unless you stay on same aircraft,do not leave the aircraft, and no new passengers board the aircraft.
There's other options - £472 with Emirates, £499 with Singapore, £391 with KLM - and that's just on the 1st of July.

That does make some sense. If the world is dead to thaivisa posters, perhaps they might resort to looking at my profile. Maybe they are hoping to find how all my posts are so clever and amusing?

I don't post on thaivisa.com all that often, and in the past I'd be lucky if I had one person looking at my profile every 3 months.
But now, it seems like I am getting multiple people a day who are interested in my posts. I've been trying hard to make interesting/amusing posts recently, but I wasn't expecting to attract so many fans.
Frankly, I'm baffled. Does anyone have any theories to explain my sudden popularity?

Covid 19 vaccines are vital to the health of the people of Thailand.
I think that we can take it for granted that there will be no corruption or graft concerning Thailand's efforts to vaccinate their population.

A version of Johnson's ever so successful "whack-a-mole" strategy that led to 156,000 deaths.
Um, there has only been 128,000 covid deaths in the UK to date.
The UK has done badly, but there's no need to lie/exaggerate to make your point.

You need two injections to be fully vaccinated - and that's the rule to have the full two doses, not just one. So they give you a card after your first one, and then you wait 3 months for the second one.
Right now, 26% of the UK are fully vaccinated, and it will be over 50% by July. The "proof of vaccinations for 7 day quarantine" is irrelevant now anyway. As I'm sure you know, quarantine is currently for a minimum of 14 days whether or not you've been vaccinated.
Maybe 100-200 brits benefitted from the 7 day quarantine. How many of them used forged vaccination cards? 1? 2? Or more likely, zero.

23 hours ago, AnnieSeek said:
Shockingly you can easily pick up these cards and write on them with a PEN you've had the vaccine - date, batch number, etc I'm shocked beyond horror that the embassy in London was accepting THIS as the sole proof to shorten the quarantine to 7 days.
Beyond a disgrace.
Well, almost everybody above a certain age in the UK has actually been vaccinated, Einstein, so why would they need to forge a vaccination card?
The alternative would have been to deny everybody a 7 day quarantine, since the UK doesn't have vaccine passports yet.
Let me guess, you're already in Thailand, and you're enjoying "not having any competition"? Thought so ????

The only real reason people are buying this insurance is because it's one of the requirements when you apply for a Certificate of Entry from the Thai Embassy.
Technically, you can buy any policy with the 100k coverage, but what are you going to do if the Thai Embassy reject your choice of insurer and turn down your CoE application? Do you still have time to submit a new CoE application? And good luck getting a refund for your insurance ...
