  1. I have used chiropractors all my life in the U.S. and didn't know the chiropractors in Bangkok didn't use manipulation and adjustments which, in my opinion, is key to successfully treating a problem. I was in Chiang Mai recently and saw an osteopathic DR named Ben Thompson for a chronic neck problem I have. He is thai but his father is from Great Britain and he speaks fluent english as well as thai. He went to school in England and has licenses from the U.K. I only saw him once but was very impressed with him. While waiting for my appt at least 4-5 farang patients arrived at his facility to be treated and he has a very good reputation. As for my visit with him, he gave me an adjustment of my neck and used suction cups on my back and neck which was a first for me. My wife and myself actually bought a suction cup set from him and we use it at out house. Lastly, I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he said he was going on a lengthy vacation because he had been working non-stop for a long time and he needed a break. If you are ever in Chiang Mai I would highly recommend him and a retired physiotherapist who I have use before in Chiang Mai said she knew Dr Thompson and he was an excellent DR. Good luck
  2. The way the cowboys fly by on their m/c it is no wonder why their aren't more fatalities. They are like human projectiles being shot out of a cannon. Condolences to the pregnant wife and the deceased family.

  4. I can't help remembering an incident back in the U.S. where a former airline pilot used a woodchipper to dispose of his wife.
  5. Wombat- Thank you for the clarification but no need to apologize my good man.
  6. Wombat- You have me confused. You said your grandfather used WD-40 fish oil worked for your grandfather. Was it the oil WD-40 he used or was it an actual fish oil? I never heard the term fish oil used for WD-40 so please clarify what he actually used for his arthritis. Thanks.
  7. Back in 2019 myself and my wife went to a visa agency in Chiang Mai to apply for a visa with the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok so she could accompany me to the U.S. A. A friend recommended this visa agency and said he obtained a visa for his then thai g/f so she too could accompany him back to the U.S where they were planning on getting married. I paid the visa agency 93,000 thb to start the application process to obtain a visa for my thai wife. Soon after Covid-19 hit and no need to explain what transpired the next 2 -3 years. After the world and Thailand started to open up again I contacted the visa agency and they were quick to state that since my wife was not vaccinated she could not get the necessary physical as part of the process to obtain the visa. We waited until the U.S dropped the requirement for non citizens to be vaccinated to enter the U.S and we have tried repeatedly to contact the visa agency. My wife had called the visa agency repeatedly and he doesn't answer the phone. We were just in Chiang Mai and went to his office and there was an iron gate in the front and the agency was closed. I realize contacting the Police will most likely not achieve anything and, short of contacting an atty and most likely throwing more money at the situation with no good outcome, is their any government agency we can contact to possibly assist us? I also realize this is a common occurrence in Thailand and Thai businesses are known for suddenly closing up shop and hiding behind their veil of secrecy and maybe opening at some point in a different location, possibly under a new name. In any event, I am not holding out much hope for any satisfactory resolution to this matter but figured I would run it by the gurus on Asean Now forum for their input. Please be kind and don't chastise me too much. Namaste
  8. I realize Chiang Mai is far from you but I went to an osteopathic Dr in Chiang Mai while I was there visiting and the Dr really knows his stuff. He is thai but was schooled in the UK and was licensed there. He speaks fluent english and his father is from England. His name is Ben Thompson and another physiotherapist I used to see in Chiang Mai said he was a good friend and she also highly recommended him. I think he is taking a month long vacation because he said he had been working continuously for quite awhile and needed to take a break. If you are ever in the Chiang Mai area I highly recommend him, In fact While I was waiting to see Dr Thompson at least 3-4 farang patients had come to his office to be treated by him,

  10. BigNok- That was gracious of your offer. Unfortunately I am several hundred kms south of you in the Buriram area or else I would meet you for lunch or coffee sometime.
  11. I usually just smile at them as I walk past them. They give me a sheepish look and either go back to eating the grass or continue on their merry way. I must admit though that I always look for a quick escape route, such as running and jumping in a pond, in the unlikely event one got hostile all of a sudden. Usually their owner or tenderer is accompanying them and I pretty much know them and am very comfortable when they are around with the herd. My wife tells me stories of riding on them in the water when she was a youngster.
  12. I, quite frankly, am very impressed with the talent on display. I wish I had a tenth of the skill level shown by posters here. I am challenged since I currently live in Isaan and I am really not into farming or gardening like my wife is. I try to maintain some resemblance of normalcy by great walks in the morning, either by myself, or if it is not to muddy, with the dogs. My wife also understands and enjoys our traveling within or outside Thailand to break up the monotony which surfaces from time to time. My one regret is I wish their were some places not to far where one could go to have a chat from time to time with other expats. I do like the relative peace and tranquility here but sometimes it would be nice to be able to go to a mall or have a broader selection of places to frequent such as coffee shops.
  13. Rules for me and rules for thee. Don't do as I do, do as I say. As the global elites are jet setting around the world in their gas guzzling jets spewing all sorts of carbon emissions they are pushing their green deal on the world's population. Inflation has been ignited by the Global elites and Central Bankers to force consumers into impractical and unrealistic alternatives like electric cars and solar and wind energy which can never replace the loss of oil and gas. It has been a lifelong dream of the World's Central Bankers to eliminate cash and go to a cashless society. It is all about power and control over the world's population. The Chinese cashless system has imprisoned their population with their social credit scores and constant monitoring of their accounts. At least with cash if banks try to ram you with negative interest rates and force you to have to pay a fee for the privilege of keeping your money there, you can withdraw your funds. With no cash you are screwed.
  14. Has anyone gone to a chiropractor in Chiang Mai or know of any in Chiang Mai?
  15. Myself and my wife are going on a 7 night car tour of Isaan with a great driver who we hired to drive us around Isaan. He is from Chiang Mai, where we used to live, and used him several times while living there to take us around different parts of Thailand. He is going to travel from Chiang Mai, pick us up in Buriram, and our trip around Isaan will begin. He is from Isaan originally so he is very familiar with Isaan. We pretty much are going to head up to the Mekong river and follow it as we proceed through Isaan. He has a set route and we will be staying at hotels each night along the way. We are going to head up to Chiang Rai to see Phu Chi Fa and will wind up finishing our trip in Chiang Mai. We will be spending a few nites in Chiang Mai seeing friends and visiting a few places we loved to go to when we lived there. Then we will head back to Buriram when our trip is finished. Our driver is great. He is very personable, speaks excellent english, and is a great tour guide, as well as driver. The trip is a little expensive, but well worth it considering all we get, and it should be a great trip.
  16. Scouse123- Thank you for the reply. At the very least you gave a figure as to what your total bill was, including a lavish room, with meals, to recuperate in. I am going to check with my hospital and now I have a figure which was graciously supplied by you for this procedure.
  17. Scouse123- That is a great price. Can you give the name of the specialist you used for the procedure? I am exploring different options and I would like to check out this govt hospital in Kalasin. Thanks
  18. I had hernia surgery at Buriram Govt Hospital 4 months ago and it was the conventional non laparoscopic procedure. I am very pleased with the outcome and I am still on the mend. The first 3 months after the operation you are cautioned to be very careful and only walking is strongly recommended. They didn't offer laparoscopic. Previously I had a nightmare with a private hospital and the surgeon there even said that although they offered laparospic he didn't recommend it because he said in some cases the body rejects the mesh and you have to go in and have another surgery to take out the mesh. That was, quite frankly, the only good thing I had with this private hospital. Without going into great detail, this private hospital's staff was very unpleasant and I had to do 95% of the work to finally get approval from my insurance for the operation at this private hospital. I finally got the surgery approved for a certain amount and on the day I was to be admitted to this private hospital for the surgery the games began. To make a long story short besides the fact that they were obviously trying to run up the bill even more then the approved amount, at the last second they said I had to be admitted to intensive care which, had I been, the final bill would have been far in excess of what my insurance had approved for the operation. When I questioned the hospital billing reps they tried to fluff it off and said I would have to pay whatever amount exceeded the agreed to amount and I would have to pay and chase. I would have to go through the time and aggravation, knowing full well that this private hospital staff would have done the least amount of work to assist me, and I would have had to do most of the work just like I did initially to get approved. I hit the ceiling, demanded all my test results that I had paid for since they were considered out patient and I would have to submit them for reimbursement with my insurance. I had them give me my bill and I went to the cashier and paid what I had owed for all the tests. I was very mad and basically called them a bunch of crooks and stormed out. In any event, I went to Buriram Gov't Hospital and they were very pleasant and polite. I was very impressed with their professional demeanor and they were very thorough during the whole process to finally get a date for the surgery and the resultant surgery. Myself and my wife stayed in a very nice private room at the hospital setting for the several days leading up to my operation and I had the operation. The nurses were all great and the care and treatment I received was better then any care I ever received back in the U.S. In summation, had I had the operation at the private hospital I can only say that it would have exceeded 200,000 thb. This was for a non laparospic operation. Way back when I was quoted a price in excess of 200,000 thb for a laparospic surgery. The total cost of my hernia operation at Buriram Gov't Hospital was 41,000 thb and that also included 5 nights admittance at one of their very impressive private rooms where I also received 3 meals each day while there. I had some health issues which the attending surgeon thought best that I be admitted several days before the operation just as a precautionary measure. I was never put in ICU and their was never any need to be put in ICU unless an unscrupulous hospital saw an opportunity to run up a sizeable bill. In closing, as stated previously, I am still on the mend but very pleased with the outcome of the surgery. I gave all the attending nurses a nice tip plus the lady who cleaned our room each day. All in all a great outcome after some angst and turmoil initially.
  19. Posted 3 hours ago It's just a Woke fest to polish the ego's of overpaid diva's who like to pontification to the masses . and tell us mere mortals to save the planet whilst they are jetting around the world in there private jets . Banglay- Couldn't have been stated any better. YOU hit the nail on the head.
  20. I have kidney disease and my kidney Dr wants me to start taking the above titled essential amino acid along with being on a low protein diet to slow the progression of my kidney disease. To buy it at a Thai government hospital it costs 21240 thb for a 70 day supply which I will be forced to pay unless anyone has a solution. Sheryl has told me I can not buy from India where the prices are considerably less because you need an import license. I figured I would throw this out in case someone can pull a rabbit out of the hat and can inform me of a cheaper way to obtain this product.
  21. 1500 baht. Wow I was paying 250 baht for the INR test at McCormick Hospital in Chiang Mai and now am paying 125 baht at the local hospital in Isaan. It is convenient and very cheap.
  22. I was wondering if some enterprising individual wouldn't get a hawk or a falcon or an eagle and train it to kill pigeons. Wherever I go in Thailand there are these annoying, filthy, disease plagued birds crapping all over the place. They roost wherever and are oblivious to any attempts to get rid of them. I would think if someone could train an eagle or hawk or falcon to attack and kill a few the rest would get the message and be gone and the annoying problem would be gone. Of course you are going to get your bird lovers who will say this is inhumane and I don't know about possible problems with the government. If one could in fact get the approvals I would think this could be quite lucrative seeing as how these dirty filthy annoying pigeons are everywhere form houses to condos and everywhere in between.
  23. After my second blood clot back in the U.S. more then 10 years ago, my hematologist checked my blood and determined that I had a blood disorder. She said I would have to go on a blood thinner for the rest of my life since I was prone to DVT. Initially it felt like a death sentence but with so much else in life you learn to live with it. Actually, living in Thailand is a Blessing because I go for periodic blood tests (INR) at the local hospital to make sure I am within the therapeutic range. Not only is the blood test very cheap but also I am in and out in no time. Back in the U.S it was a royal pain in the <deleted> to have my blood checked and then you had to wait a day or 2 for my Dr to call me with the results. Good luck.
  24. I am the furthest thing from an expert on these matters and you sound like, and most likely are an honest guy who is looking to increase his business volume with the help of outside investors. What concerns me is I am always reading about how investors in Thailand are always getting stung and ripped off by unscrupulous shysters who promise their investors huge returns in return for their investment in their scheme. Most time it is a ponzi scheme where the investor starts to get their agreed upon huge returns and then eventually the payments stop for one reason or another. The fact that you have little collateral to use to obtain a loan from a bank is troubling. In this day and age, I am continually amazed at all the sophisticated, and some not so sophisticated schemes that enterprising shysters think of to squeeze money out of greedy investors looking to make a killing with their initial investment(s). I do want to emphasize again that I am not trying to lump you in bed with the many unscrupulous shysters out there and hopefully someone on this forum has the business acumen and knowledge and experience to be able to clearly look at your business enterprise and make a smart decision whether you are legitimate and can negotiate some terms which a fair and equitable to both parties. Good luck
