  1. 2AM BAR CLOSING

    Apirak asked to help

Chalerm wants checks against young patrons

    Published on February 26, 2008

In his first inspection of the Bangkok Metro-politan Administration, Interior Minister Chal-erm Yoobamrung yesterday asked Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin to help enforce the 2am closing of entertainment venues.

Using its municipal policemen, the BMA should also ensure people younger than 20 do not attend these venues, Chalerm said, adding that Bangkok streets would be safe and free of crime under his tenure.

Chalerm said he would tackle drug problems using a pro-active but non-violent approach based on law and order. He said BMA officials and municipal policemen will help monitor crimes and criminal activities in support of local police.

He said a scenic observation post should be built in Bangkok to serve tourists, and proposed a site near a lake in the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly compound off the southeast Ratchada-phisek section.

Chalerm said the post would also comprise convention and business centres to serve foreign tourists.

He promised Bt100 million to support the BMA if it accepted his idea to build the tourist installations.

The minister praised Apirak and the BMA for keeping the Chao Phya River from Nonthaburi down to the sea outlet free of water weeds, at the suggestion of Her Majesty the Queen.

Chalerm and Apirak appeared friendly during the inspection and at the press conference and both sat together for a photo call.

Night venues found to be operating after 2am will ultimately face closure within seven days.

"After 10pm, Bangkok streets must be free from crimes, rapes, mugging and brawls. BMA municipal policemen will work with local police to make sure these crimes don't happen," he added.

Chalerm said he told Apirak to solve problems about coastal erosion along the coastlines in Bang Khun Thian district, the only Bangkok district facing the sea.

Caught some snapper the other day & 4 barracudas ranging in size from 7 to 3 kilos. Oh & a baby whitting, which is the first time I see here.

    Where abouts were you fishing?

  3. If you're on holiday you can afford Top Cats, the fishing is good with lots of big fish.

Koh tao fishing is better than samui.

Samui fishing on the tour boats is a waste of time and will only frustrate someone who is into the sport.

If you want to catch big fish spend the $ and go top cats.......

If you don't mind catching small fish take the local tour boat, but don't expect good equipment. If you wanna get a tan and wet a line, local boat ok, anything more than that and you'll be dissapointed.

I'm not sure the authorities had anything whatsoever to do with the water draining out to sea eventually, unless you saw them lift up one side of the island to make the water run off faster....

The authorites organised the pumps and also used diggers to dig channels for water to flow away in certain problem areas, I think they learned much from two years ago.

  5. Most of the flooding gone, bright and sunny.

Actually i'm surprised how quickly the floods have gone down.

The authorities dealt with it much better this year. I certainly wouldn't change any holiday plans or worry too much. With the amount of rain that fell in those few days there had to be flooding, two years ago it took weeks to get back to normal, this year more like a few days for most areas to be mostly ok.

There still are flooded areas, but it shouldn't effect tourists who will mostly be on the beach, and todays looks like a good beach day.

  6. anyone find it a little suspicious that big powerful names seem to get the best numbers on the ballot sheet?

  7. I think they are both fine in terms of safety, probobally well above Thailand's average and close to international standards, infact I would say lomprayah is up to international standards for most things........As I said I would go with the cat over a monohull. Neigher the Seatran high speed or Lomprayah cats are river boats, the nathon - donsak ferry however are.

The cats could take some pretty heavy seas as they sit high on the water and the waves ride through the hull, would not be comfortable though as you get a juddering motion with cats in high seas that can be annoying and uncomfortable

If you wish to go to nathon you take Lomprayah, if you want airport you can take seatran.

  8. Right now I know it's the brake pads......

We have asked two different people at the garage and they both say the light means nothing.

We will go there today and tell them that the light means brake pads......

Only in Thailand would the service center ignore the light warning and say it's a loose connection.

Honestly you would think you culd trust toyota's own service center to know what the light meant.

  9. I took my 2003 sport cruiser into service a couple of weeks back, I pointed out that a certain light kept coming on whilst driving and could they fix this. After the service I notice that the handbrake on light (exclamation mark on dash) comes on more and more regulary. Now it is on a lot of the time I drive, particulary when excellerating.

I called up to ask what this meant and they guy said nothing just faulty light.

I don't believe his answer as the light has started coming on progresively more and more and always when excelerating etc.

Does anyone know what it is??? Cllutch, brake pads maybe?

If one of you could tell me what it is, maybe I could tell this service center what is is...........

    Useless pricks!

Thanks

  11. ok look I have written an email for customer service. I havn't sent yet, here it is, i'm really not the best writer, so if any english teachers want to make corrections it would be appreciated, I'd like to point out that this is 100% factual apart from wanting to buy a new car, that is a slight embelishment, but on the advice of several forum members I think this would make them take the complaint more seriously as they have something to lose. The email is a bit rambling, as I say i'm not the best writer, particulary when i'm pissed off!

    Feel free to comment....

I have just had a very unpleasant experiance at Toyota Koh Samui. I purchased the car new in Surrathani, but use the samui branch for all my servicing.

On Tuesday I took my 4wd sport cruiser to the Samui dealer to fix some minor dents (front and rear bumber) and scratches on sides so that I could have the car looking nice in order to sell. My plan was to then sell the car and buy a Fortuna.

The car was first taken in around one week before work started for an inspection. Myself, my girlfriend and one member of staff then looked over the whole car and your staff member marked on the form all the areas that needed attention and also marked which parts needed to be ordered. It was then agreed that we would bring the car back when the parts arrived.

When we brought the car back the second time for the work we again made a full inspection of the car checking that all the correct work had been marked and that we hadn't missed anything. These two inspections surely prove that the scratches were not present before the car was entrusted into the car of Toyota Koh Samui.

On Saturday 6 Oct at 11:30am I went to the dealer to pick up the car. On inspecting the car I noticed numerous new scratches which previously were not there. The old scratches had been fixed, but now there are some new and very deep scratches which I know were not there when I brought it in and also from the two previous inspections of the car your staff must also know they were not present as if they were we would have marked them down to be worked on.

When I pointed the scratches out to the staff member and told him they were not there when the car was brought in he said they were there, but the car was dirty so we couldn't see them. He says after the car was cleaned you could then see the new scratches.

Firstly the car wasn't that dirty, secondly the scratches are serious and deep, no amount of dirt could hide these scratches. If they had been there previously they would have been noted on the form during the two inspections.

I spoke to 4 members of staff and all were totally uninterested in trying to get to the bottom of this and find out how my car was scratched. They just put the blame on me and made no effort to find out the truth and who was responsible for this damage.

On top of all this when I was presented with a bill that was higher than the estimate I needed to go and get more cash from the ATM, they wouldn't let me take my car, refused to give me the keys incase I didn't come back, I found this deeply offensive, it's basically accusing me of being a thief. Or at the least having the intention of running away with my car and not paying.

Imagine how you would feel if you went to pick up your car which you expect to be in nearly new condition and instead you have a car with many new scratches and after you offer to pay the first bill which you have cash for and then return to pay the rest after a visit to the ATM and they refuse to hand over the keys.

Previously I have been impressed with Toyota's customer service but on this occasion I have had such a bad experiance that I will almost certainly not buy Toyota for my new car as I do not think I can return to this garage after the behaviour of the staff. I now have to get the car fixed somewhere again, I would at the very least have expected the garage to fix the scratches for me and offer an apology and admit a member of their staff had damaged it somehow or that somehow it has been damaged whilst in their care.

Please could you let me know the proper channels of complaint and who I need to speak to as I would like to get to the bottom of this. It is also important that this is followed up as I would hate for any other Toyota owner to have to go through the same as I have and be treated so poorly by so called customer service representatives.

    yours sincerely,

    Mr Womble

  12. Just went to pick up my toyota from Toyota garage, the car was in having a service and also fixing some scratches. When I inspected the car I notice the sratches i asked to be fixed have been fixed but now there are more scratches on both sides!!!

When pointed out to the customer service rep he said the car was dirty and hid these scratches. Absolutley impossible as one new scratch was so deep nothing could possibly hide it, plus we went all around the car looking at the scraches and deciding which ones to fix.

Anyway this guy was unshakable, they wouldn't admit responsibility........

On top of that he has presented me with a bill much higher than the agreed on price that I paid a deposit on, he says it took more work than expected. I tell him i'm not paying and expect all the new scratches to be fixed free of charge.

He completely refuses, what can I do. I agree to pay the amount shown on the 1st bill and want to take the car, but he won't let me as he says I have to pay the new higher price (which included extra scratches).

I refuse to pay and so now I have had to leave the car there...........

What do I do now? I'm going to call head office in bangkok in a minute, does anyone have an advice and does anyone know who I should speak to that has some authority?

    cheers.
