  1. This bike likes to drink fuel!!!!

This thread likes to eat posts smile.png

I smell another "thaicruze" thread in making...

I can't see that as a bad thing!!! the Thai Cruze thread kept a lot of people busy for a long time!!! I might possibly be the only private owner at the moment of the Z1000 on Phuket so this is where I will be posting questions!!

  2. Nah I don't like the look of the stock mufflers, they are too short and fat. I think the Akrapovic ones look better, but I guess they are pretty expensive!

Horses for courses, looks are important to me, the stock mufflers in my opinion are just so mean looking, spending 50,000bht on changing to mufflers that don't look so good would be crazy, plus I doubt the performance gain would be worth 50k

  3. But listen to this!

Oh man, I iwll never be able to afford a Z1000 unless a flamingo happened to drop a bag of gold onto my balcony 555.

    LOVE IT madjbs wai.gif

    Can't stop clicking 'Replay' giggle.gif

Don't bother Norm it's got no flashing lightsgiggle.gif On the other hand the Kawa finance deal isn't too bad.

They might be great sounding exhausts also very expensive at I think 50,000bht, but it takes the mean look away from the back, the stock exhausts just look so good!!

  4. This bike likes to drink fuel!!!!

a litre bike tank should have a bigger tank ,20-25 litres would be better than 15.5

how many km are you gettting before the fuel light starts flashing ? i can get 175-200

    if im lucky on er6n

Sorry don't know, I have filled the tank today and noted the milage, I will check when it gets down to 2 bars left!! I am thinking though maybe less than your bike, of course it all depends on how you drive!!

  5. Why? If the compression of the engine is high enough then it won't be able to run properly with 91 no matter what anti knock sensors it has, it might run without knocking but would be severely down on performance, Hence why they might not recommend it.

It's a high copmpreeion engine 11.8:1 the manual says 95 mininum so 91 no good, tank sticker says benzine, gasohol(E10) 95 again 91 no good, dealer says 91 he is no good!!! we called to dealers in Bangkok both said 95 gasohol or 95 benzine.

  6. I don’t slot well into the biker community, it would seem. I have zero tolerance for accidents. If I can’t keep my bike upright and out of trouble then I have no business riding it in my opinion. To that end I prefer riding alone and if I were to drop my bike I would probably take that as statement of my level of competence. That’s just me though and I doubt there are many others with this view.

That said it doesn’t keep me from riding. I did all the major Northern routes this year without incident.

Dropping your bike can happen to anyone, I have been riding bikes for over 40 yrs and yesterday I lost my balance whilst trying to turn around from a standstill I dropped my 2 day old Z1000, no damage as I had crash pads installed the day before. any damage would have seen a grown man cry!!

  7. boil them for 10 mins or so then blend with a bit of milk and butter. tastes just like real english chippy mushy peas lad

mmmmmm..................mmmmmm.............good! Bland mashed peas. Another fine example of Brit cuisine.

Remind me of this recipe again when I have no teeth and my taste buds are burned off from all the smokin spicy I eat.

Back on topic, pretty sure this place was written up in a previous thread, OP maybe check the restaurant pinned.

Hold on a sec. This isn't "British" cuisine. It's a specialty of that backward, poor part of England. The North, where people speak with a funny accent.

A Southerner prefers his peas as they come out of the pod; not mushed.

Not true everyone likes mushy peas!!!

  8. Have you nothing to say about it other than post a picture??

I have had mine for 2 days now, it's awesome but it is an alcoholic regarding fuel!!!

My 3 mods so far are the geartronic solo gear indicator, gold and silver radiator cover(pics attached) also crash pads from Puig, very expensive but I dropped the bike yesterday whilst trying to turn round almost at a standstill, no damage at all!!! won't be making that mistake again!!!

  9. That is fast, I have also seen a you-tube Z1000 doing 250kph way to fast for me!!! I am happy driving slower listening to the sound of the engine, my mate says it looks like a stealth fighter from the back, I agree it looks <deleted> mean, this bike is just <deleted> awesome, forget the Ducati Monster and spend the extra money on a truly superbike!!!

  10. Okay my gf has just called 2 shops in the Bangkok area, answer to the fuel question, always use 95 gasohol or 95 benzine, if can't get 95 gasohol you can use 91 benzine, fill up with 95 gasohol as soon as you can find.

It would appear that the guy from Kawasaki Phuket has got mixed up and given the correct information back to front!!!

  11. Cool sounds great! I wanted to look at a sports tourer but as they don't sell the ninja1000 here I am interested in the z1000 instead, it looks cooler anyway, so it has some plus points too!

Everyone looks at it because it is a new model and it just looks so awesome

your right ,it does look awesome

i parked beside one last week in a car wash

the er6n looked like a toy compared to it ,that z1000 is one mean looking bike

thai people are always telling me the er6n is beautiful ,if only they wouldnt press

buttons and fuc_k around with it when its parked but thats another thread ......

I love it more than my gf!!!!

Everyone looks at it because it is a new model and it just looks so awesome, now you know what fuel to use 100% maybe the dealer in Bangkok will tell you it uses 91!! I still don;t understand why the dealer would say 91 when it is cleary stated it uses 95, oh well that is what these forums are for!!

  13. How comfy do you find it, do you think you could ride for a whole day on it without too much issue and what about the pillion seat? Which dealer did you buy it from, I want to go and look at one in BKK tomorrow.

It is very comfortable and could ride a long way without a break but breaks are a good thing of course, my 10 yr old daughter was on the back today and loved it, I bought it from Phuket Kawasaki.

  14. Purely theoretical, your mistake of using RON 91 fuel for the first two tank fill ups did likely not harm your engine – as you probably will not rev the engine hard and fast enough as you're still 'braking-in' the engine...

When the first service comes up, ask the Kawasaki mechanic to check the inlet-valve tolerance...

But when it comes to fuel for your motorcycle Read The Manual ….

Yes I have read the manual and read the tank label but the dealer insists on using 91.

  15. As far as I am aware and have been told there is only one gas station on Phuket that sells 95 benzine but obviously 95 gashol is readily available, so much easier in the UK!!!

So the sticker on the tank is saying, benzine, gasohol(E10) 95 in other words, use benzine 95 or 95 gasohol!!.

I assume the first 2 tanks of 91 will do no harm?

YEP, i see a very big 95 on your picture. You should respect it smile.png

Okay cheers guys and a good discussion, you have to ask yourself though, why does the dealer insist on using 91 benzine when it clearly says 95 on the tank and in the manual, is it because they don't care or some other reason?

  17. Richard is spot on. Only use 95 either petrol or gasohol E10. I have the same problem with my Vespa 300 Supersport it can only run on 95 as stated in the handbook.

The dealer was adament that only 91 Benzine should be used and must not use Gasohol, on the tank there is a sticker, in Thai it says, Benzine, underneath this it says gasohol(E10)in Thai, underneath this in big letters it says 95, my gf says Benzine is 91 no gasohol. so is the tank sticker saying you can use benzine 91, also 95 gasohol?

Gf says the sticker says from top to bottom, benzine

    gasohol(E10)

    95

You should only use RON 95 fuel, this can be Benzine or gasohol. The octane level has nothing to do with the levels of ethanol in the fuel. RON 91 fuel has a lower OCTANE level and is only used in lover compression combustion engines. (Honda Wave, Tiger Boxer, Kawasaki W650...etc...etc..etc...*)

The Kawasaki Z1000 uses a engine that needs to have RON 95 fuel.... (it doesn't matter if it's benzine or gasohole)... Using RON 91 (benzine or gasohol) fuel will in the end distroy the engine.

Okay dealer put 91 in and I have just filled up with 91 but from now on use 95 benzine or 95 gasohol, cheers for everyones info and input. I assume no hurt to engine with 2 tanks of 91?

    -----------------------------------

    * Nothing wrong with a low compression ratio engine they only use different fuel

  19. They were both wrong, it must be minimum 99 E85 jet for fast bike like that. Or you risk serious damage to the flux capacitors.

Hopefully I will get a serious answer soon!!!

ok lets be serious, which one is correct. The company that designed and build the bike or some bloke at some shop that imported the bike second hand from Japan?

Take a deep breath and think hard coffee1.gif

Some bloke at some shop is the bloke at the Kawasaki dealer!! the bike is not second hand it is new and imported from Japan by the bloke at the Kawasaki dealership!!!!

No problem my Thai gf has just vtranslated the label on the tank, it says Benzine or 95 Gasohol, so looks like the bloke at the shop who imported the bike was right!!

  20. Picked up my Z1000 this morning, dealer says only use 91 Benzine not use Gasohol, on tank it says 95 E10, in book it says E10 or less,95(RON) also it says do not use a lower rated octane than what is specified otherwise severe engine damage could occur, so who is right!! and what to use?

  21. I pick up my Z1000 tomorrow, it looks awesome it is so comfortable and it is super fast, rule out the Ducati as it is the most uncomfortable bike I have ever ridden, ER6n is again awesome and a great price, as for the ABS point, it all depends on how you drive, in over 40 yrs of driving bikes I have never needed the aid of ABS, if you drive very fast and to close you need ABS, I never drive in the wet if possible so no need for expensive ABS, if it does rain I slow down considerably!!

  22. I'd hate to see how much that costs, one might get there standard seat re-padded at a local Thai shop for a fraction of the price smile.png

It's Ducati, the accessories are not cheap....if you want cheap by Kawasaki

Why not just fold up a towel and tape it to the seat, if looks aren't important to you......

    On the bike....

Parts for the Z1000 are not cheap, all my accessories are coming from the USA, Italy and Spain, and yes the M795 is extremely uncomfortable in my opinion.
