  1. How many kitesurfers on this forum? Not sure..

If I wanted to meet up with kitesurfers and learn the sport, I would contact a kitesurfing school and meet other kitesurfers.

Just like your old attempts to get golfing partners, it didn't work here but I'm sure if you get to the course you can meet others interested in a game.

The point is 'goober', you have to assume that the OP knows how Google works and would have used it if that's what he had wanted to do. You did the exact same thing on the 'Water in Patong' thread when somebody asked if they had started the festivities yet or not, and you told him to go and look for himself and then wrongly told him they wouldn't have started yet because 'Google' said it wouldn't have!

It just seems that some people want to make replies to posts when they don't really have anything to say that's of any benefit to the OP, and actually seem to be giving the OP a hard time just for asking a question! That's the point I was trying to make on the water thread and on this one as well. Like I said, apologies if you took offence at how I expressed my opinion.

Thaivisa isnt the be all end all of information.

Getting to the water thread, if it were me, I would get te phone number of an establishment on bangla (using Google) and call them to find out if the party is on.

That's just me and I like to cut out the middle man in any situation.

Horses for courses, some people swear by google others prefer to interact with forum members because Phuket forum members who have lived here for a very long time will know the ins and outs of most everything, google would not have this experience!!

  2. Any curious mind could Google 'songkran' and it clearly states it falls on the 13th of April every year, never changes.

Last time I checked, today is the 12th.

Even my first reply hints at that.

    Happy water pistol buying.

Any curious mind would have been wrong then wouldn't they!

There will always be people who want to start Songkran earlier and finish later than the official date, which is why the OP asked!!

Some people believe google can never be wrong which is wrong because it can be wrong and in this case it clearly is!!!

    Absolutely correct!!

  4. Inflammatory/rude reply removed.

Why on earth would there or could there be an inflammatory and rude post made to a very simple and normal question?? are some people on these forums that sad!!!

    whistling.gif My bad!

I just pointed out that I didn't believe the LMGTFY link was very helpful. The OP asked if any members were kite boarders and asked a specific question about the weather. I'm sure he could have made that simple Google search himself.

I obviously expressed myself in a way that sounded ruder than I had intended it to, for which I apologise. wai.gif

    Why wasnt the link helpful?

He can call the professionals at the kiteboarding school and I'm sure they are up to date on wind patterns and conditions than any armchair critic here.

Well you have just verified that Phuket forum is indeed of great help by providing the op with the link!! well done Mr Goober...

  5. And where do you think it might be possible to find a kitesurfing school in the area where a certain person lived, could it be on the Phuket forum, no it could not be possible could it!!!

Google is a resource that cuts through the crap and straight to the point.

I used your golfing as an example, your threads had no serious reply but if you have a interest or a querie about phuket, use Google first. I do and that why I don't post many empty and boring topics.

As you can see, not one reply was useful except for mine. when i clicked a few links from the kite surfing school from that google search, i found out that they meet in Chalong and I can even tell you pricing.

You again have brought nothing to a thread except whining.

lol your definition of whining is all wrong!!!

  6. And where do you think it might be possible to find a kitesurfing school in the area where a certain person lived, could it be on the Phuket forum, no it could not be possible could it!!!

  7. And your point is what exactly? what has golf got to do with kitesurfing? do you know for a fact that my request for golfing partners on the forum did not work??

  8. Where on Phuket are you staying?

I would not worry about getting charged for damage you did not cause, as LIK has said, make some photos and you'll be fine.

Also, theft (or scammed theft) is a far smaller problem IMO than sometimes suggested, but a more realistic issue than getting scammed for damage.

Yes worry about getting charged for damage you did not cause, if you leave your passport photos of the bike before renting will not help you!! there are many honest rental people but a few dishonest so best to find a rental person who does not demand your passport!!! and never rent a big bike without first class insurance!!

  9. Avoid all rental people that demand you leave your passport, by leaving your passport you leave yourself open to being ripped off!! there is a great Frenchman in Rawai who rents big bikes, you only need a copy of your passport and all rentals include first class insurance, Patong beach road bikes do not have insurance so why would you rent there!!!

Forums are for people who want to know things about a specific area, why would they google when there might be people with first hand experience of the subject they are asking about, yes google is great but a forum is there to be used and no one should be put down for using it!!!

  12. One thing i forgot to mention is that when you and the witnesses sign

the document you must put the date next to your signatures, then if

you ever want to write a new will that will be your current will

    Cheers Peter.

  13. I have looked but can not find any where so a quick question and this thread can be closed.

If you are married to a Thai girl and you die does everything you have automatically go to her? or do you still have to have a will?

Thanks for any answers and yes I am sure it has been discussed before but it is quicker just to ask!!

  14. There was nothing sinister about a new change of forum name, my windows live account was hacked and I discovered gmail so thought it was a good time to start afresh!!!

All member please be advised of forum rule 26) Not to create multiple accounts. Any member found to have more than one account on the ThaiVisa Forum will be suspended. Suspended or banned members found creating additional accounts will be banned immediately.

If a member has a need for a name change then member's must email that request to support (at) thaivisa.com

It's not an excuse but I was unaware of the rule 26. slapped wrist I assume.

  15. I would not be a female but any chance, better not answer or the post will be delete

No not female, it's not important who the particular person was only that it got very tiring and boring reading his constant put downs of a lot of people, I will never understand why posters feel the need to be rude, the reason of course is because no one knows them so they adopt a different persona so as to come across as the big I am, each to there own!! I wonder if posters who come across as not very nice people are like that in the real world?

  16. violin.gif

If you don't like the tone of the Phuket Forum, noone is forcing you to log on.

I find lots of people who use it are very quick to help anyone who asks. There is a wealth of knowledge which it would be hard to tap elsewhere. Sometimes I get a great belly laugh. Can't believe I was so slow about killing Kenny!

Why can't people grumble here? Or argue? As long as there aren't trolls running rampant, it's a great place to vent. It doesn't matter whether you live in paradise, there are always things that get to you. Such as the occasional longing for familiar foods.

Have fun, you guys. I'm off to the Bluesfest in Byron Bay (NSW Australia). Day 2. All sorts of old fogey bands, like Canned Heat. Yep! They played 'On the Road Again' first up.

You cannot believe you were so slow about killing Kenny, your posts get better all the timeviolin.gif

lol is this the Phuket forum or the NSW forum? forums are indeed a great place to vent but are they a great place to be extremely nasty!! there is only one name that springs to mind when it came to being nasty and insulting not just now and again but every time, horses for courses I suppose!!!

  17. Well there you go Peter.

Your grave concerns for some guy you never met but was touched by his forum demeanor is safe and well under a new guise.

    You may now sleep undisturbed.

    /thread.

There was nothing sinister about a new change of forum name, my windows live account was hacked and I discovered gmail so thought it was a good time to start afresh!!!

  18. Life must be pretty boring or you can't occupy yourself if you worry about some anonymous guy not contributing in the boring forum anymore.

Even if a person is purely anonymous for you, he might be friend or semi friend to another.

Has the forum really got to the point where the contributions of Kenny are sorely missed? I afraid it seems that way and that is sad.

The forum has no direction, all topics are either a whinge about the island or asking to source something on the island which makes it stale and peoples interest wanes.

Kenny was niave as they come and probably fled Thailand with his tail between his legs if you judge him by his posts.

He lived in fear of everything.

ha ha I am still here, I have not fled Thailand with anything between my legs!! me niave never been called that before!! yes I now have my Z1000 but that has nothing to do with not posting, had a lot of trouble with my windows live so had the opportunity to change my user name, I can't believe anyone would miss me, I was never a controversial poster but I would always stick up for myself and for others who were maybe getting a hard time, I have not played golf for a long time so no need for any partners!! there was only one poster on here that was continually nasty to every one and he has not posted on here also for a long time, he was one reason why I decided not to post so much, plus of course I doubt there is one thread on Thai visa that does not descend into insults which is another reason to do something else.

  19. Hey guys, I'm looking to play badminton later on today. I'm staying in Chalong but have never come across Clubhouse, Land and House Park . Has anyone got an address or are you able to provide specific directions? Thanks in advance!

If coming from Chaolng circle, go past Home Pro, turn right after Wat Chalong, follow road past shops on the left, Land and house is the first turning on the right.

  20. People like bikes of all sizes just like people like cars of all sizes, owning a big bike or big car does not mean you have to be a dick head and drive like a lunatic, I prefer most of the time driving between 80/100kph a nice speed and very safe, now and then I will go to 140kph which is very windy and can be scary, owning a big powerful bike does not mean you have to drive to limits you are uncomfortable with!!!

It has nothing to do with bigger brakes, bigger tires etc or power in reserve, it is a bike I have chosen to own because of the look, the sound and it is just great to drive!!

  21. I could not imagine going 322km/h on a bike, when I get up to 140km/h I back off it's just to fast, I prefer slower speeds it's safer and more enjoyable!!

Most guys wouldn't ride at 322 kph but they'll sit in a bar telling you there bike can.

(waits with baited breath for the "speak for yourself" one-up-man-ship response)

I'll bite but with a twist... on way to Chiang Mai on open stretch of road with not a soul around i opened up the Fazer and hit 240km/h for a nanosecond then backed right down.. bike still had allot left but I didn't ... just cant see the point or tilting the risk- reward curve so much in favour of risk with those types of speeds. 140km/h on nice highway/ low traffic/ good weather is OK but super high speed touring.. nope Im a chicken

The problem with the Z1000 is that there is no wind protection so going over 100kph is scary, if the front screen is bigger I dare say I would go up to 150kph providing the screen protected me from the wind, but anything over that for me is frightening!! yes I am a chicken!!

  22. Beggars really pizz me off. A Thai guy the other day couldn't have been more than 45 years old, not disabled and didn't seem to be mental but was begging. Lazy.

When I think of the poor people I have met who work hard and do loads of jobs just to get by and live on next to nothing it makes me wonder why these people can't.

As for over tipping the petrol pump attendant, she could have got an extra days wages there, I bet she is thanking you for that.

I am sure the girl was very honest as she held the change looked at me as if to say is he all there, a dis-honest girl would have put the change quickly away, there are many good honest people here she was obviously one of them!!
