  1. As one of the biggest Honda fans on the board, I can just not see the point of the N700* here. While I am sure it's a very good maxi-scooter, and might even be able to hang with the ER-6* bikes, it is stupid expensive. At just shy of 2x the price of the Kawi options there is just no point unless you want an automatic bike.

True but again it is imported so hence the price, the CBR1000 will be 790,000 again it is imported!! Many people buy imports so there will be a market for these Honda's.

I understand it is imported, as is the CBR 1000, but in my mind it doesn't justify the price premium being asked. In the 250 segment I've constatly ragged on the Ninja cositng 50% more than the CBR. In the 1000 Supersport category the CBR is fairly priced (apparently less bikes from other manufacturers) compared to the competition. I can not wrap my mind around the fact someone would be willing to pay that much more for an automatic transmission and possibly a less capable bike than what is already available. Are people really that shallow they need to have something nobody else has?

It's a personnel choice, if you want a big bike like the R1 you will pay a hefty price, I bought the Z1000 which was a mistake, sold it after 3 months or so, no good for traffic, runs very hot and a very tiring bike to drive in a city, plus the recommended fuel was 95 benzine almost impossible to get here on Phuket, anyway now very happy with the more sedate CBR250 no bike can match this in town or out of town providing you don't mind the reduced power, never been a fast driver but on the Z I did like the acceleration side, just not for me in the end!!

The ER6n like the CBR250 is amazing value, the 250 is most definitely the best value of all being half the price of the CBR250 in the UK!!

  3. Yes, it is a struggle to find 95 Benzin, some Shell stations still have it though. Most of the time I go with 95 Gasahol. The biggest issue I have with gasahol is that when I get back from being offshore for a month or so, the bike sometimes runs a bit rough until I give it a fresh fill up.

I am sure there is a problem with leaving gasohol standing for a long time, I think it can separate which is probably the cause of your bad running, if you are going away for any length of time it would be best to drain or for a Few days before you go away use benzine!!

  4. I don't think it is a direct competitor to the ER6's due to the price tag and way it is built. I am sure the NC700 is a very very good bike, but being more like a Thai beginner bike for the people with more money.

The brilliant think with the ER's is the price, one can not come around that, priced way below anything out there in the market, so Kawasaki was very clever when they came to that price- well done for them and well, lucky us... hahaha...

I hope that they will expand with several more bikes- will the VFR come? the Crosstourer? I think that they look gorgeous and I would kill for one of them, and there again is the price, why does honda feel the need to price their goods that high? I know they will sell well as it is a honda and Thais/foreigners with money will keep buying them. Are they producing motorcycles for the public or for the high-so's?

Kawasaki has put a price on their products that are fair to the income level amongst the population, a family can buy a big bike too, it is not impossible- half the price of a new car...

Cheapest Honda? more than a Honda brio, what would I chose for my market run? the baby car... I think they are to expensive, but that is because I am a poor boy with no money or honey...

Got to love Kawasaki for bringing the price down to EVERYONE's level... Thank you Kawasaki- Honda, please follow suit and drop it 50% wai.gif

Going by the price of the Honda NC700 it is imported which makes it a completely different bike from the Thai made ER6n so yes the ER6n is great value, you pay big money for imports and I am sure many will!! If I was to buy another big bike I would go for the Honda as it is automatic which makes it very usable in a city, but I am more than happy with my great CBR250 it is awesome!!

  5. 95 Benzine is best, but failing that, I go for 95 Gasahol or 91 Benzine. personally I wouldn't use 91 Gasahol as the only time I tried it my bike ran like shit.

95 Benzine is very difficult to get, 91 benzine is available everywhere as is gasohol, none of my bikes or my car has run badly on any fuel I have used. Again nothing wrong with using E10 the Ethanol content is small and will not damage your bike or car!!

  6. forget Gasohol on Motorbikes. it is the worst you can do

tousends of Engines are demaged with gasohol, most the valve and/or piston

I can not explain the problem in English, I can exactly explain in german

Maybe the German bikes aren't made as well?

Seems most bikes produced here in Thailand have a sticker stating 91 gasohol. I think i will stick with the mfg recommendation...

Most bikes if not all state E10 gasohol or Benzine.

Never heard of any engines being damaged by E10 Gasohol!!

There is no problem with using Gasohol E10 it has not damaged my bikes or car.

I have used Gasohol in my Suzuki Skydrive and Step for over 3 yrs they still run perfectly so in my opinion Gasohol has no bad effects on the engines, always use Benzine in CBR250 but would not think twice about using Gasohol if I had to.

  10. Just been to the Honda dealer in Phuket to have the white plates installed on my awesome CBR250, in the showroom was the NC700, fantastic looking bike and in my opinion will blow away the Kwaka ER6N, Tiptronic gears, sport mode and D mode, ideal for traffic, big storage for full face helmet under where where the normal fuel filler cap would be, 14ltr fuel tank so not huge, sounds great, looks great and a great price of 450,000bht can not buy until this December, they will also be stocking the CBR1000 and the Goldwing not sure of any other models, my 250 is fantastic and perfect for my needs but this NC700 being fully automatic will make me think about it, will probably stick with the 250 as it is hard to beat for the money and pure driveability in a city.

  11. it's a popular method in some of the bangkok parks for the smaller species. Tilapia, small carp like yeesok, smaller snakehead and gobi like pla boo.

To be honest it's a lot of hard work compared to normal Thai methods and it tends to be for fishing fanatics who adore European methods.

Yep it needs concentration, but it did seem to get the bigger fish but can't really see why that would be, maybe it's because you are striking at every little twitch rather than waiting for the bait runner to tear off, will give it a try on my next trip next month.

  12. Gotta be honest, I have several videos about waggler fishing and I don't even remember what it is. I guess they didn't make a big impression after I watched them, but I'm more into predator fishing with lures and flies.

Post back if it works for you. I can't imagine there are no more effective methods than throwing out a big old ball of lam or bread under a bobber and waiting....

I will be trying it on my next trip, but will also be using freeline with bread and Lum.

  13. Gilhams the fish was treated well, palm tree i did not like the place for reasons i posted a long time ago but they treated the fish decent. Bungsamran they treat the fish in general not good. Shadow lake.. not great dependin on the person who is fishing.

I just do my bit but in the end i cant change the world

No we cant change the world but as a Falang there is no excuse in treating these fish badly!! Some people just have no consideration or interest in doing what is right.

  14. I tried for many years to influence Thai guides, fisheries and anglers to treat all the fish they catch with care. It mostly had no impact. Although for a while after taking unhooking mats on Bungsamran for about 4 years...one day the owner decided to put pieces of black rubber matting on the hard wooden decks, stating "our idea was very good". They wasn't very functional and they have mostly since all disappeared again. And like you say it seems in the end many western anglers sensibilities get diluted also and people simply stop caring about fish. Just becuase Mekongs are so tough isnt an excuse to throw them around, but that seems to be where many people end up, but the way fisheryies out here are set up certainly does not help or make for easy fish handling.

This has been one fo the many reasons I have ended up building my owner fishery....so I can actually create a pleasant fishing environment for myself and for our angling visitors, where the lake is designed to make fishing handling in the water easy (water up to the waist in the margins on a flat surface, water within inches of the swim, not several feet away!)

It's sad to say but fish care in this country means nothing, It's disgusting to see so many people treat the fish here so badly but there is nothing to be done other than do your own thing, I think Gillhams might be the only fishery to give the very best care to the fish that are caught, it's a shame the owner is such a miserable git and the cost for fishing high, what is your fishery called and what are the charges?

Your quote regarding the way fisheries are set up is no excuse for dropping a very big Carp on to the floor from chest height, or throwing this fish back into the lake again from chest height, grass or concrete, why do so many choose to put the fish onto concrete when the grass is inches away?

  15. It's great to hook then land a very big fish, It's not good to then have a picture taken and drop the fish onto the ground, It's also not good to throw said big fish back into the lake from chest height, these fish need to be treated with care, pictures should be taken whilst close to the ground, they also need to recover before allowing them to swim away, why do people have no thought when it comes to fish care!! Just because we are in Thailand it does no mean we have to behave like many others!!

When I fish I make sure I have the correct equipment, large landing net, large weigh sling, unhooking pliers etc some people I have seen have nothing yet they are fishing for big fish, don't understand it but what can you do!!
