  1. I have been asked to find a supplier of trophies in Bangkok. I am looking trophies which have a traditional Thai style design if possible. The quantity is quite small though, only 20 trophies.

Does anyone know of any kind of trophy supplier in Bangkok that can contact to at least start with?

  2. The syncing of the contacts works perfectly. All the fields that I add on my macbook pro are just added to my Nokia. All the fields are added and no data is missing.

I think Missing Sync works with most phones, you will probably have to visit the website to check for sure that it will work with your particular Nokia model.

  3. I use a Nokia E71 and to sync it with my macbook pro I use Missing Sync. Nokia does have a sync facility but its very buggy and even though you have to pay for Missing Sync is does everything perfectly. I use it to sync my calendars, contacts and my to do lists, you can use it for other things though like photos and music etc...

  4. Its definitely not service with a smile but its still good service and the food is passable. Decent selection of movies and the flight was actually about 10 minutes early but we were kept waiting on the tarmac until the actual arrival time.

Its definitely the best option from Bkk to London as its a direct flight but it would be nice to have a night flight for that part of the journey. I would definitely use them again.

  5. Blackberry's seem all the rage in Thailand at the moment, I was almost going to go for the Curve but I wouldn't have been able to take advantages of all the services with Dtac so I went for the E71 instead. Lots of apps for it so you can customise it exactly to your needs, some you have to pay for and some you don't.

  6. I am with Dtac but I think any network provider can offer you a GPRS data plan which will give you a certain number of hours to go online with. I use a mac so all I had to do was download some modem script and install that into my computer and then pair up the laptop and phone via bluetooth and also via usb cable and it can be used as a modem.

There is a downloadable application for the Nokia E71 which enables it to be used as a wi fi point as well.

  7. I have this phone and it is excellent.

I do prefer to use Nimbuzz rather than Fring. I think thats just personal preference though.

Syncs perfectly with my MBP but I had to buy Missing Sync as the sync tool from Nokia is flaky at best. Missing Sync works perfectly.

The inbuilt email app isn't so great but Profimail works well on this phone. Can read HTML emails.

Can use it as a modem for my MBP via bluetooth or by the usb cable which is great as I don't have to rely on Wifi hotspots

Nokia Multimedia transfer works well with macs.

The camera is ok but having to press 't' to focus is clunky. Also, having threaded sms would be a great feature to have and I am afraid that Nokia conversations just doesn't cut it.

I am still trying to find a decent audiobook player that will play Audible files. It should have a bookmark feature so that it plays from where it was stopped last time.

What I am interested in is being able to install apps which are not signed such as i-sms. Signed Symbian make it difficult to get certificates and keys so that you can sign your own apps. Has anyone successfully had the E71 hacked in MBK?

  8. The PErfect Place is so far from being up-scale let alone Hi So...

THere is a very tight neigbourhood where Srinakarin meets the new express way going towards Samut Prakan. Never saw a foreign face there. When you visit a person, they need to give you a card, to give to the guards to show whoose house you visited (and the owners stamp the card).

Are you talking about Panya Village? Some farangs live there, but they do tend to be the really well placed ones.

Surprised no one has mentioned Nichada Thani out in Nonthaburi. Though mostly expats, there are number of well off Thais that live there as well.

    TH

Thats where ISB is as well. Nichida Thani is very nice. They have a Clark Hatch fitness club there, a Starbucks and also a Bumrungrad clinic. Its a bit out of the way but Central Chaeng Wattana is close by.

  9. This is quite a serious concern, in my opinion. On 3 separate occasions in the last 18 months I have had my taxi stopped (only taxis with farang's were stopped) and then asked to get out and searched. On 2 of the 3 times I have all my pockets searched and was patted down.

It was no problem whatsoever, as I was very nice to the police (and had nothing to hide) and they were friendly to me, but I have heard stories of other people having drugs planted and then asked to pay large amounts of money for the problem to "go away".

I don't know if this is a growing trend, but 3 times seems like a lot to me!

Looks like its not only confined to westerners, I have British nationality but I am originally from Taiwan so I often get mistaken for Thai, Japanese, Korean etc. I was pulled over a while ago and searched, patted down. My was wallet opened and they searched through that, they even shone a torch into the back of the taxi to see if I had thrown anything under the seats. They were clearly looking for drugs.

At no point did they try and put their hands into my pockets and once it was all done I was sent on my way.

  10. Yes I was over this weeks ago, not long after it all started.

Also that stupid face all the young people pull to try and make their eyes look bigger, I think the fad started in Korea.

Why is the world so full of followers?

Forget the panda, what is all this about??

  11. Hi there,

I would suggest using a non-toxic remedy: get some pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) Dteuy Hom or Bai Dteuy, readily available at the talat. Hang few pandan leaves in the kitchen cabinet or cupboard. The sweet unique aroma of the leaves seems to rid off cockroaches. Tried it myself and it works. You can even put in under your car seats as a natural air freshener.

OR another alternative is to use citronella based fresheners or spray kit (dta krai - lemon grass)

    Just my 2 cents.

PS>>> For heavy infestation I would suggest you attack them with them sprays and then follow the above as follow up maintenance.

Do Pandan leaves work? I always though that Bay leaves are a natural deterrent?

  12. I have suffered terribly with eczema from birth. Ever since I have come to Thailand it has almost cleared up completely. It only comes back when I am stressed or when i sweat for long periods of time such as doing sports. When it gets particularly itchy I always apply a bit of Betnovate which clears it up after a couple of days. Use sparingly though.

I find using soaps with extra moisturisers (Dove soap) helps a lot as well as prickly heat powder. Keeping track of your diet can be useful. I find that i my eczema gets worse when I consume a lot of dairy products.
