  1. most people think like that UKIP woman anyway except

the people who flaunt their anti racist credentials because it makes them feel superior(lots on TV)

the brainwashed self hating liberals who buy into all that multicultural stuff

    sociology students

fully paid up members of Unite against Fascism

    bored housewives

  2. I'm 55 years old, but lean and reasonably fit, except for my Rheumatoid Arthritis, but my meds keep that in check. Just bad luck on my behalf, but I thought I'd make some awareness that it is around and serious. It's not a doctor's cure with some pills, but hospitalisation. My irregular heart beat is still receiving treatment.

  3. Remember what started this nuclear war:

The attack on Pearl Harbor[nb 4] was a surprise military strike conducted by the Imperial Japanese Navy against the United States naval base at Pearl HarborHawaii, on the morning of December 7, 1941 (December 8 in Japan). The attack led to the United States' entry into World War II.
The attack was intended as a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from interfering with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States. There were simultaneous Japanese attacks on the U.S.-held Philippinesand on the British Empire in MalayaSingapore, and Hong Kong.
From the standpoint of the defenders, the attack commenced at 7:48 a.m. Hawaiian Time.%5B13%5D The base was attacked by 353%5B14%5D Japanese fighters, bombers and torpedo planes in two waves, launched from six aircraft carriers.%5B14%5D All eight U.S. Navy battleships were damaged, with four being sunk. All but one (Arizona) were later raised, and six of the eight battleships were returned to service and went on to fight in the war. The Japanese also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, an anti-aircraft training ship,[nb 5] and one minelayer. 188 U.S. aircraft were destroyed; 2,403 Americans were killed%5B16%5D and 1,178 others were wounded. Important base installations such as the power station, shipyard, maintenance, and fuel and torpedo storage facilities, as well as the submarine piers and headquarters building (also home of the intelligence section) were not attacked. Japanese losses were light: 29 aircraft and five midget submarines lost, and 65 servicemen killed or wounded. One Japanese sailor was captured.
The attack came as a profound shock to the American people and led directly to the American entry into World War II in both the Pacific and European theaters. The following day (December 8), the United States declared waron Japan. Domestic support for non-interventionism, which had been strong,%5B17%5D disappeared. Clandestine support of Britain (e.g., the Neutrality Patrol) was replaced by active alliance. Subsequent operations by the U.S. prompted Germany and Italy to declare war on the U.S. on December 11, which was reciprocated by the U.S. the same day.

the USA knew that Japan were going to attack PH and let it happen so that FDR could lead the people of the USA into WW2

  4. Have you been able to go look at the scooter I suggested? It's a lot smaller than the modified Mio. Good luck!

we called into the shop yesterday to see it...is being sold as secondhand for 25k baht....have seen them online for 24500 baht...problem with it is its for an adult and the seat height and handlebars are to high so it would need serious modification...also being made in China its reliability and longevity are questionable

  5. been having second thoughts about an electric scooter mainly because of

costs....reliability...lack of servicing options in village if it breaks down and price of parts for example replacement batteries

so now after some google time this option has come to light

I have two addresses for this place

The Association For ChiangMai Physically Handicapped Occupation Promotion

    Organisation

186/1 Moo 4, Tambon Su Thep, Amphoe Muang Chiang Mai, Chiang Mai, 50200

and.............. Arcade Bus Station, Kaew Nawarat Road, Chiang Mai, Thailand

I am now giving some thought to the possibility of getting a Yamaha Mio and having it modified there

stripped to the frame and wheels...having two wheels put on the rear..the forks cut down...seating arrangement for the two of them..the most important thing would of course be rigging the throttle so it didn't go above walking pace...the Mio is auto and has an electric start and can be serviced /repaired at the local village m/c shop

I am still raising money for the project at present but some input on my ideas would be most welcome

  6. some of you reading this forum may remember last year that I posted here regarding a project to assist two disabled ladies

the topic was called " Two Disabled ladies Requiring Help"

the outcome is posted on this facebook page

    https://www.facebook.com/ben.hare.756/media_set?set=a.1394475570776109.1073741827.100006410378613&type=3

One of the ladies,Yai , is now suffering with an arthritic hip which along with her lifelong dwarfism disability make its very difficult and painful to walk...her sister Noi is still ambient but both of them are now in their late 50s and their mobility is being drastically affected by advancing age coupled with their disability

I am at present raising funds to purchase a mobility scooter for them but after doing some research on prices and designs it seems that they are manufactured to suit an average sized adult hence would not be practical for their needs

I have an idea to approach the Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Dept at Chiang Mai University and see if it would be possible for some degree level students( with help from the course tutor) to design and build a mobility scooter to carry the both of them and to take into account the terrain that may be encountered in the small village where they live

I would like to know if any posters here would know who to approach at CM University?

any thoughts on whether this would be a good idea or not?

does anyone with an engineering background have any advice to give me?

  7. I would like to know will their be a raft of cheap cars hitting the market when the 4/5 years is up?

ie,the depreciation of the car plus the discount from the govt should make for some attractively priced cars

or his being Thailand will the sellers see the discount as a profit for their pocket and disregard it when pricing the vehicle?

  8. This is a Safe T Cut consumer unit (fuse box) with built in RCBO protection.

    112064_L.jpg

To clear up any confusion Safe T Cut is the name of the company, (the brand name)

it is not the name of any particular device.

The above picture shows a consumer unit (fuse box) with 8 way circuit breakers ( so 8 separate

circuits can be supplied from this consumer unit).

It also has a built in RCBO to protect all 8 circuits, this is what's recommended for full protection

    against any potential electrical shocks.

my g/f has this box in her house (6 switch) and the RCBO test button has never worked...we got a brand new replacement RCBO from the shop and that was the same

recently an electrician came to her house to do a minor job and remarked that the fuse box wasn't earthed so I have now bought some appropriate wire and a ground rod and we are waiting for his return to fit

could the lack of an earth on the box account for the test button on the RCBO not working?

  9. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

My father always used to say I was lucky. I said I work hard to make my luck. Same with relationships - I work at it to treat my partner kindly and with respect, and that does rub-off. Having jai-dee (from their POV) makes it more likely that a girl will ask for money rather than take it. And if I can't, I'll make it quite clear that my pension isn't due for say another two weeks, and we must be careful. That also seems to work.

Naive? Well, I mostly think the best of people until they prove me wrong. Like on here...

Lucky, or too daft to know when someone is stealing from you?

    Who can tell?

Well, as you used Jai-dee (which is Thai hooker talk) in a post, I made an assumption.

It's really best not to use Thai words if you don't know much Thai (or learn your Thai words in a bar).

Thanks for providing your perspective on this and other areas, AOA. I've been pondering the above post, and now that I think about it, the only times I've heard Jai dee has been from a bar girls or massage girls (I know, quite often the same). I've never heard it from Thais not employed in those businesses.

I know a girl whose surname on facebook is Jaidee or is that just another nickname?

  10. I have been acquainted with a couple of ladies in a small village outside Chiang Mai for some time

Last year with the help of some Thai Visa members we improved the accommodation in which they live (see link)

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/655577-two-disabled-ladies-requiring-help/

Yai and Noi have had a very hard life being twin sisters who are suffering from Achondrplasia or Dwarfism as it is more commonly known

they are now approaching 60 yrs and still have to work to put food on the table...they work at a small factory peeling onions

where they earn approximately 40 baht a day each....apart from the small amount of cash they make it is also their social life as they

get to spend time with other ladies in the village...when not at work they spend their time at home

Yai has arthritis in one of her hips which is compounded by her disability and is finding it increasingly difficult to walk the 200m

    to her place of work

I would like to ask TV posters if they have or know of anyone who may have a mobility scooter that isnt being used maybe from

a deceased relative or from injuries that they have now recovered from

please note as per Thai Visa rules that we are not asking for financial donations
