  1. the ultimate song about Thailand

"The best things in life are free

But you can give them to the birds and bees

    I want money

    That's what I want. That's what I want. That's what I want.

Your love gives me such a thrill

But your love won't pay my bills

    I want money

    That's what I want. That's what I want. That's what I want.

Money don't get everything it's true

    What it don't get, I can't use

    I want money

    That's what I want. That's what I want. That's what I want.

    I want money

In fact I want so much money, give me your money

    Just give me money"

  2. Rape is legal in Thailand, according to Thai soap opera. Whenever rape occur it's because...

the girl is evil and deserve to get raped as punishment.

if the girl isn't evil, she's already in love with rapist and it isn't rape at all, actually.

If the the girl isn't evil and doesn't love the rapist already, she will discover joy of Sex and eventually fall in love with rapist anyway.

If the girl isn't evil and will never fall in love with rapist, she will give birth to a very graceful child (ussaully a protagonist of the soap opera). This is rare case, actually. Most of good girl will get rescued on time (unless the rapist is a good guy, irony?).

  3. The surgeon at Rajavej put a plate on my femur and everything seemed fine. However 2 months later in December, the plate came off because I started to be more active as my muscles had healed.

it was your own fault as u should have stayed off the leg until the break was showing signs of calcium formation and even then only 30% weght bearing after given the ok by the doctor

I had a broken tibia that took over a year to heal and was fixed by Dr Preecha at CM Ram as mentioned by another poster..i would also recommend talking with him

what they neglected to tell me was that in order to promote bone growth u need to take calcium and vitamin D supplements along with a healthy diet....u need to google this

it was only when I looked at the nutritional aspect and took supplements that the bone growth began in earnest

anyway good luck and stay strong

  4. the guy does an excellent job of providing English style fish and chips///.even provides small bags with salt vinegar and ketchup included in the price

whenever I buy from him the oil always looks clean as does the kitchen area on the sidecar

  5. there have been many threads outlining bad health and safety practice in Thailand but heres what happened to me today

my condo has a small swimming pool surrounded by wooden decking..today I decided to go for a swim and arrived at the pool where I saw they had taken up part of the decking adjacent to the pool and there was several pieces of mangled rusty metalwork that had been supporting the floor in a pile waiting to be removed....there was nobody working there at present and no signs indicating that swimming was not allowed so in I go and had been swimming for about 5 mins when the condo maintenance man arrived with his teenage boy helper the later started shovelling crap from the hole they had created while the MM chatted on his phone...I continue swimming thinking nothing of it and then the teenage helper starts up a large arc welder which I hadn't noticed being there and is welding pieces of metal in the hole not half a metre from the pool....as u can imagine I was out of that pool as quick as a flash (if you will excuse the pun).........I then went directly to the reception desk to complain and advise that a sign saying no swimming be put up when the arc welder is to be used...in saunters the manager as this is going on and I turn my attention to him informing him of the dangers of using such a piece of electrical equipment near water and how I could have been killed to which he didn't seem that concerned until I pointed out to him that one of his customers dying of electrocution in the hotel swimming pool would be bad for business at which he said he would arrange for a sign to be put up banning swimming while maintenance was taking place

  6. all the secondhand cars being offered on here wouldn't together add up to 150,000 baht /£3000 back in the UK

either buy new or spend the money on taxis...old secondhand cars are just money pits which is fine if they cost £500

    but this is Thailand

  7. if she wants a house then pay the minimum deposit as a gift and let her pay the mortgage payment out of her own money with help from you (lets face it u were always going to

get stung for help with the payments anyway) and treat that money as paying rent for living there...if u split up then the responsibility for the loan/house is hers and u will be out of

pocket the price of a cheap secondhand car...it will also show u how reliable she is which will give u an idea on whether u want to commit to her long term

  8. quote from the OP post

"the only lower scum i can think of is pedophiles"

I think bankers ,politicians and people who con large amounts of money from vulnerable old ladies come above some poor sod who desperately wants to stay in Thailand so is lowering himself to sponge 50/100 baht from an unsuspecting tourist.......I suspect the OP has never himself been on hard times and probably has had a life of middle class priviledge where he can look down from his ivory tower with disdain

  9. I have been looking out for a couple of disabled sisters in my g/f village and recently helped them improve their living conditions

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/655577-two-disabled-ladies-requiring-help/

one of the ladies has a bad hip and is finding it increasingly hard to walk

I remember somebody telling me a while ago that there are a group ( not sure if its a charity or govt run) that reach out to disabled people

with advice and possible help that included visiting to massage

does anybody know anything about such a service?.....thanks

  10. Don't worry too much about it if's a Honda or Yamaha.

Does it come with a service book? There you can see the history when the bike has been to service, new bikes needs oil change at 1000 km according to the service book.

I bought 4 or 5 new Thai bikes over the years and none of them needed work done on warranty.

All main dealers should in theory honor warranty on a bike (if you have the service book and stamped correctly) but if they do, I don't know.

"there is no other documentation other than the green book"

without a service book stamped with the date of purchase as proof of valid warranty is there any other way to validate the warranty with Yamaha?

I would not consider buying it without the 2.5 year outstanding warranty even though as u say the likelihood of needing it is likely to be remote

  11. I am looking for a scooter for my g/f and am going to look at one tomorrow that's only 5 months old very low km and has been bought as a repossession from the bank by the current farang owner who is selling it on.....he has the green book but no plate at present as its come from another city but is getting it registered locally in the next couple of days....my question relates to the fact that there is no other documentation other than the green book how would one go about accessing repairs under the guarantee?
