She told them I like to ride my bicycle which was true. Chanthaburi has some very beautiful riding trails.
I have not been impressed with the lack of "customer service" attitude at Chanthaburi immigration. I've done one extension so far, and even though I brought in copies of my entire bank book for the 800k as well as the actual bank book itself, they demanded I get an annual statement from the bank. That was an additional unnecessary, annoying step and 100 baht. Never had that happen at Jomtien.
I also have never been given any TM-30 paperwork to attach to passport though the front desk gal went to immigration to register me. Heavy sigh, if the women weren't so damned cute . . .
I think that you, and your wife, need to acquaint yourselves with Immigration practices.
That is not a 'grilling' it is a conversation - and the bank letter is standard practice. Being asked for a 12 month statement provides them with evidence of money going in and out.

OK My visit was before the Buriram offices opened.
Bugger! I completely forgot that I used to go to Kap Cheong. ....I also remember going to temporarily offices on the 24 near the Korat turn - and later at Dan Kwien? I think that a popular officer there was 'Dow'?.
In my early days in Prakhonchai (2008) I still stayed in Thailand on a multiple entry Non O visa: leaving every 90 days was easy with Cambodia so close. My first couple of annual extensions must have been at KC, then Buriram after. My visit was definitely staff from Buriram (according to my missus).

I have now switched to a marriage extension but I always had to provide a map when I did my retirement extensions in Hua Hin in the past.
Noted.
Not so for me in Buriram and Chonburi.

You don't with a retirement extension. Still, they have our addresses and no doubt someone will be smart enough to use Google Maps!

I also get a home visit around that time and my permission to stay was based on retirement. Was yours from the Surin (Kap Choeng) IO by any chance? Mine was.
Mine was Buriram.

Well that makes two I've heard of, you and the OP. Perhaps they are doing it to everybody except me. Now I feel left out ????
Don't be - your time may come ????
Mine was just after the Erewan bombing and Immigration realised that that they had no idea where their Farangs really were.

I do not know how you can describe a 13 page application for a tourist visa as simple.
Virtually every year for the last 15 years I have been repeatedly supplying the same information.
I would suggest to anyone doing it for the first time to create an application and complete it. That application can then be deleted and a new one started, second time around provides a bit more clarity on what may be required.
I would also say that the process IS quite simple. The only irritation when doing these regularly is the repetitive data input that could be saved carrying forward this data from a previous application. Usually takes me 15 minutes to complete the online application for the missus and about 10 minutes to upload the 5 supporting documents. Another 5 minutes to printout the appointment confirmation, her passport copy and the VfS checklist.

I had a home visit and I am on a retirement extension.

Exchange rate to which currency?
Do you really think that they even considered that?
The clue in the post was GBP ????and, no, of course they wouldn't give a flying fart about that.

Only insofar as CW is concerned in theory, given that this particular facility is only available to those registered in Bangkok, it would appear. And those using it could still, in practice, be subject to inconsistency between individual officers at that particular office as regards supporting document requirements.
And I for one would earnestly hope that VFS never roll out this facility nationwide nor extend it to non-immigrant annual extensions of stay for retirement, marriage, etc. Being forced to make a couple of trips in person to their office in Bangkok every 9-10 years as required for us Brits at passport renewal time is already bad enough as far as I am concerned, without further mandatory trips to that hell-hole called Bangkok being imposed on us every year for Thai immigration purposes! ????
You may need to re-read the OP. One of us has got it wrong? (I wouldn't exclude myself).
The VfS part is online, no visit required . This where consistency comes in to it. Immigration 'simply' stamp the pre-approved extension.

Recognise that VFS is not doing the extension, only document checks. You must still visit Immigration to get the extension stamp in your passport. Given that you can make an appointment to do an extension in Bangkok, most will not feel the VFS service is worthwhile. However, if you are concerned about a wasted visit to Immigration because your documentation is insufficient in some way, maybe you might use them.
In principle, I like this idea and processing by VfS will bring a consistency to document requirements.
It should also remove corruption from that part of the system.

Yes indeed, and me being a diabetic, it would not be suitable even though wholemeal bread is part of my diabetic diet. Fortunately here in Siem Reap, my local MAKRO has an "onsite" bakery and it's wholewheat bread is non-sweetened to compete with many local private bakeries (a legacy from French colonial days). Sadly, the "onsite" bakery is producing far less local products which are being replaced by pre-packaged ones imported from Thailand. For example, that awful doughy Farmhouse bread is now appearing on our shelves at a higher price, replacing local bread. Is there a demise in MAKRO's "onsite" baking in Thailand?
No. MAKRO still bake onsite.
Siem Reap ((Cambodia in general) has far superior bread to Thailand. Obviously down to the French/Vietnamese influence whereas Thailand has not benefited from colonisation.
I had a restaurant in Buriram and used to bring back dozens of baguettes from Siem Reap.

Diet- body food
Thoughts and feelings - mind food
You should never let others control your thoughts and feelings. If they want to be bad so be it. You control your feelings not them.
If others can easily make you sad then they are masters and you a slave
I think that you think too much
Fact - others (without having any control over you) can impact your mood; positively or negatively.
