So for many this will mean get out of Thailand before 1st. January 2024 (2,5 month's from now) or at the latest before your Visa expires in 2024.
Do you normally panic over everything?
Do you actually think about what you write?
The Thai authorities couldn't put together a system for all foreigners to complete a tax return. Do you have ANY idea how many foreigners are in Thailand?
I can guarantee that I will never need to complete a tax return in Thailand - nor will I ever pay a Satang in income tax, nor will I consider leaving on the whim of some idiot who thinks this will happen.

I was sure that the online reporting window was 15 days (14 calendar days) before the due date - up until the due date. I thought that a previous requirement to do it 15 day prior up to 7 days prior had been changed.
I doubt myself because I found 3 separate references to to 15/7 days prior on various websites........... I was trying to find an up to date Immigration link for a friend who had asked me about the window.

That list of questions suggests "No" as the resounding answer.
If you want to protect your 'investment' do it with a Usufruct. In reality a waste of time - you have identified two keys factor; what is spent is spent and you have no intention of staying put in the event of her demise.
She could bequeath the house to you, giving you a year to transfer it toa Thai.......good luck with that one.
As an aside, if you do decide to marry, remember that marriage invalidates existing Wills; you would need a new one if, for example, there are assets and beneficiaries back home.

I never thought about that but assume it will be frozen. Then again, I could argue that I'm not living abroad. They could argue that I get nothing, as I am a foreigner!
It will be determined by your declared domicile at the time of claiming the pension,

Thanks for that ???? You can walk in and pay for breakfast without staying there? Any idea of cost?
I am pretty sure than you can walk in... certainly at this time of year .
But I would suggest that you contact them to ask:-

We're going to KC Grande on the 22nd for 12 nights, never been before but it does look good, on the hillside with ocean view.
Hillside is 'over the road'. Like many hotels on that coastal strip they have rooms on the beach side of the road, and hillside
Quite a distant ocean view but you should pick up some glorious sunsets.

While we're at it, hotel we normally stay great location and everything else but breakfast a bit ordinary. Can anyone recommend a good buffet breaky somewhere?
Which hotel do you stay at?

KC Grande.
Very good choice and decent quality......not too far behind the JW Marriott in Khao Lak.

Years ago they always issued the visa from application unless requested otherwise and then a few years ago it seemed to change to a few days before travel.
We have never requested any particular date as with only going for a month it wasn't ever a problem in a 6 month period. The last one we did in March was just issued to start 3 days before date of travel so bit strange yours should be different.
I do not think VFS have anything to do with what is on the visa. When we did one for Canada we dealt directly with Canadian immigration online and once we had been advised by the Canadians of approval we had to send/or take the passport to VFS office and they printed off the visa and stuck it in the passport.
I would suggest your best bet is to contact the UK embassy. They do not deal vith visas but they should be able to give you a contact in India. I think the change would have to be made by the consular section in India before a new sticker could be printed.
Good luck
Thank you.
In the past (we have had 12 or 13 UK visas) they have been very good at picking up on my requests. Only once in the early days did they miss it - but, like you, my trip was only for a month or so and it didn't matter. This time I was trying to cover 2 trips which just fit into 6 months if the start date is our first arrival date. It just saves my time, 100 Quid and a trip to Bangkok if they get it right.
Obviously, the passport does not leave Bangkok so VfS insert the visa sticker. I don't know if that is something that is pre-completed online and VfS print off - or whether VfS produce the visa sticker themselves once India confirm approval.
I vaguely recall @oldgitchanging one of his wife's visas (or he knew of someone that managed to get theirs changed).
We shall see.

Having praised UKVI, for their speedy processing time, it was disappointing to find that the visa sticker has been issued from 29th September for 6 months. I had specifically requested a start date of 14th December 2023.
We are permitted to apply 3 months before our travel date and the date of arrival was clearly stated as 14th December - this arrival date was also highlighted in my sponsor letter (in which I requested the start date).
I am aware that VfS Global insert the visa sticker once approved in India - I don't know who was 'at fault' for not picking up the requested start date. Trying to find contact phone numbers/email for VfS is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Does anyone have:-
(a) Contact details for the UK section at VfS.
(b) Does anyone have experience of getting their visa changed in these circumstances.
I guess my request is aimed at @oldgitfor obvious reasons and the likes of @sandyf (and others) who have had multiple UK visas.

You can bring $20,000 usd cash into Thailand without reporting anything at immigration. So, if worried buy a good safe, and live off cash every year.
Sound advice.
If necessary I will transfer funds to my missus and say that she is supporting me/us from her/our farming income.

Yes I have. And the answer is NO, Immigration do not accept Wise transfers unless additional paperwork is obtained from Kasikorn.
Transfers to Bkk Bank are shown in the book as FTT, Foreign Telegraphic Transfer, and International Transfers on online or from-the-bank statements. They take an extra day to arrive, or same day if initialised early morning, and no pi55ing about getting extra papers.
Kasikorn statements show "trade finance" for incoming WISE transfers. IMO (worth Jack, I know) that should be sufficient for any Immigration officer to identify it as a payment from overseas. As you know, it isn't, and I find that ridiculous.

10 minutes ago, OJAS said:Nothing to do with the law but everything to do with individual UK banks' terms and conditions, I'm afraid. Even though they are IMHO effectively acting as a cartel as regards the residency requirement, successive UK governments have shown no appetite for flexing their legislative muscles in order to force any change - most likely, I strongly suspect, because of the general indifferent (and even downright hostile) attitude shown towards expats generally (not just those based in LOS) back in Blighty.
It is all to do with compliance with regulatory requirements - and there is a perceived increase risk to falling foul of those regulations with non-residents. Answer - remove the risk; solution; no new non-resident accounts and start closing existing ones for good measure.
Your point about cartel is absolutely valid and a virtual cartel has existed forever. If you being uncharitable you might call it a sheep mentality, or monkey see monkey do.

All overseas SMS messages seem to be blocked in Thailand. Messages from my bank are always blocked. I ask them to send emails only.
But if the sender has a Thai server (Google, Microsoft etc.) then the message can be sent via the internet to the Thai server and delivered via SMS.
I don't normally have that problem with sms messages from the UK; I receive them mainly to a UK number but also to a Thai number.
