  1. You don't need a sledgehammer to crack a nut - and there is never a benefit in making mountains out of molehills.
  2. Thank you, I hadn't thought about that.
  3. +1 Maybe an age thing but I am also at that point. A few quid to avoid dealing with Jomtien immigration is worth it.
  4. That is sensible. I had to change from the monthly income method because I needed to 'renew' my extension 3 months early. For that I had to use an agent but with 800k in the bank. For my next 'renewal' I may decide to use the agent's money as I will not transfer at current exchange rates ....I have until 19 January to decide. I really wanted to transfer in December just in case I am wrong about the current tax situation - that way I could avoid transferring anything in the 2025 tax year
  5. No. Do your own legwork, it took me 40 years . My last decent sized transfer was a tad under 47. I don't think we will see that number again for a while so I shall wait for 44+ before doing my next transfer.
  6. Nothing wrong with saving 7,000 Baht.
  7. That is because you don't have much money and 8-12k is probably important to you. Do you deal with Jomtien immigration?
  8. Wrong. Where - exactly - does my response make any reference to NOT having money in the bank.
  9. I can. It is a talent I have and having loads of disposable income means that I transfer when I want to - and that is NOT usually when the rate is under 44.
  10. Double check that the rate will be the same for a 'newbie'. The 8k figure is for a so-called 'renewal' and it is 12.5k if you use their money - but 20k for a first timer.
  11. Indeed. My time is worth a LOT more than that. I will avoid that office whenever I can. I save the 8k fee by timing the transfer of funds from the UK. With the rate where it is now I would 'lose' 7,000 Baht if I transferred funds now in anticipation of 'renewal' versus the rate of 43 that I would expect - and can wait for.
  12. Semantics! As good as and it has a UK sort code and account number. You would have to be very stupid to think that WISE could not satisfy the service discussed above. Many friends use WISE for receipt of their state pension and then forward to Thailand.
  13. You are not alone. Probably the best part of my 18 years in Thailand.
  14. Put low IQ with zero meaningful education..... would that tick your box?
  15. So a p!ssed up happy bloke was the foundation of your positive view of Russians.
