UPDATE! The forward superstructure appears to have partially melted and helicopters with searchlights are now using Bambi Buckets to douse the flames from above. Amazing video at the link.

It now appears that the fire has migrated to the ship's island superstructure with its bridge seen engulfed in flames, which is a very bad thing. Additional large booms were also heard as the blaze continued to rage aboard some 14 hours after it started.

We seem to be ok in Kap Choeng/Surin. Rain hard for about 5 hours last night. Mueang  Surin is doing ok. Looks like Buriram and Korat are not getting any rain.

From 2017 to now I have only received 2 notices from the SSA to my address in Thailand. Numerous phone calls have been made to Baltimore over this subject and it is still not resolved. My local Thai Post Office and mail career read english. This past November I received just my second notice of any kind from SSA and it was the second notice of the R U ALIVE. I sent it back EMS for 880 baht and tracked it 7 days it took.

That site is NFG for me has been from day 1. I talk directly with them. My last conversation was July 3. and was told a trace was being put on it and would take up to 6 weeks. I have the contact ID number of the the individual I dealt with and he says they still are having big issues with their website. I will call back Aug 16 if no mail. The IRS and the SSA were never given the tools by any of our governments past or present for this. They both are understaffed and have antiquated software. I personally know of family and friends back home that have not received their stimulus or refund checks and there are many in Thailand in the same boat. On the bright side I am not destitute and need be can wait tell next year when I will fill tax for 2020. The IRS says there will be a place on the forums for our bank DD info. My original mailing date was date was May 1. They give NO date fro a second mailing as it takes up to 6 weeks for them to track the post. On Aug 16 that 6 weeks is up and I will call again.

There have been a few recent reports in this thread reporting 10 - 15 days delivery.

 

 

Hence my question if this seems reasonable to expect now. 

 

 

Not even. Use FedEx until this is sorted.

I was specifically asking about items mailed from the U.S. more recently.

 

 

Same same. A letter may get dropped through the crack but over all not a chance. Airlines have cut back or canceled service to the USA. If you have to send or receive you need to use FedEx they deliver in about 4 days. I have two items that before  Covid 19 were sent by air mail in 7 days. These items will now be sent FedEx. Even Thai Post on ems is taken 15 days to the states where before it was 1 week.

May 1 was a check any others will be debt card. The above info is correct. They are open 7am to 10pm ECT. You may need to try a few time but stay with it. +12679411000

The IRS is not going to throw in another step of after getting your banking details from the SSA then turn around and send your stimulus payment to the SSA for the SSA to then send you. 

 

AND I would seriously, seriously, seriously doubt the SSA would want to get involved in stimulus payments (wouldn't want to touch that with a ten foot pole) other than providing a database dump to IRS of banking details as the SSA don't have enough manpower now to handle their current duties, don't want to get involved in thousands of emails/mails/phone calls where SSA recipients would surely start calling the SSA for stimulus payment problems, etc.

After a venture in futility last night trying to contact the IRS I gave up. I just now after being transferred 4 times and a 1 hour wait on hold got to talk to a real person. The person was a young man who was polite and helpful. After the secret handshake he was able to access the details. He confirmed that the system leaves a lot to be desired as the system is BROKEN DICK. He said he was putting a trace on the check and then a new (debit card) would be mailed to me at my address in Thailand. This process could take another 6 weeks. The phone number he said to call the IRS on for the stimulus check is +12679411000 He told me not to use the 1800 number. He also gave me his ID number. The IRS has to mail this debit card to my Thai address and can not mail it to a US address. There is a chance that the IRS may transfer the funds over to SSA as they have my banking detail for DD this is to start July 24. That being said next year on the 2020 forums they will be a place to put your banking details for DD.

A gentleman a few km up the road put together a nice place about 8 years back. Has a fishing pond about the size of ours 50mx50mx10m. His pond was low on H2O so he put in a 6 inch bore with a 4 inch deep submergible pump. Two issues hit him in the a-r-s-e. The 6 inch bore was about 100 foot from his house where he had a 2 inch bore after about 1 week of 24/7 pumping no water for his house. He shut down and took a few days for the table to recover. BUT the big A-R-S-E ripper was his PEA bill for the month 15K. I can't repeat what he said AND the pond only went up about 2 inches.????
