  1. For years we as a family( Wife Thai, Me English and our daughter English with Dual nationality ) been considering a move to Thailand.

But the one thing that always stops us is our daughter and the choices and opportunities she has here in the Uk, they include all the usual thing kids do, ballet and dance, riding, gymnastic, tennis, climbing ect, also good free state education, job opportunities once school is finished, heath services ect ect.

I am not looking for a debate or argument here just wondering how in the eyes of those of you living in Thailand feel your children benefit from living in Thailand as opposed to your country of residence.

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

  2. Okay that is great, got some bait runners, will upgrade line, is there a good fishing shop in BK - or are there plenty everywhere.

Can get Baitrunner 4500 used for about £50.00 here is it worth bringing them or buying them over there in Thailand

Hooks and stuff to by in Thailand

  3. Hello all, I am wondering if anyone can make a suggestion for me

Traveling out on hols in a few weeks and I am wondering what kit could be good to bring, light simple basics, want cats, or other fun fighting fish, lakes mainly as we are staying inland.

Have lots of kit, spinning, carp, fly but do not want to bring it all

Usually I rent kit but it costs each time we go, I will start to leave kit out in Thailand at the house.

    Any suggestions would be good.

  4. There is a clear indication that Thai's do read, perhaps not as much as we do. There is a percentage of falang people that read when relaxed or to relax. As far as I can workout over the years of watching the way Thai people go about things they simply do things differently to us. Rather than read they perhaps sleep/nap, walk in the Mall and eat icecream to relax or maybe eat with friends. Sure all of us read and have an intrest in the affairs of our home counrty and its past and current affairs but non European's do appear to have a different attitude to certain thing such as situations they have no control over. This I guess could be the reason for at time what us Falang might call sicking your head in the sand.

Either way, given spare time is there some that read and some do other activities. I read only on holiday normally as this is the only time my mind is relaxed enough to take in the story

  5. My experience was

    Flights cheap, service generally okay

    But

They change schedules and they do not care too much about doing this, once they change the schedule if you cant change your plans they offer to refund you. when we last went with them they changed the return flight and the outbound flight was 12 hour delayed, we missed connection, stayed in Bahrain for 12 hours.

If the flight is very cheap

    If you are flexible

    and

You not need to rely on the flight being on time and to schedule

    Book.

  6. Get a copy of finance agreement or payment slip or in worst case just take a picture of reg plate. Visit finance company, and they can provide info on payment history, down payment and purchase price. If you still find it interesting, they can credit check your wife to take over finance

400k down does not seem likely if monthly payment amount and 60 month is correct. More like 200k baht

but if truck is in good shape, its worth the mentioned finance balance, so let me know if you do not want it as I do :)

Sorry you are correct it was 200k, they agreed this vehicle and finance at a launch day.

  7. We are buying a truck off a member of the family, they bought it at a motor show sometime in January this year and paid deposit of 400k they repay 8600 per moth over 5 years, they now are unable to afford it, the dealer has offer to take the truck back and square the finance, they have asked us of we wish to take over the fiance and have the truck.

    I have a few questions

How do we change the finance to my wifes name ??

Is there a way of checking the outstanding finance ?

Truck is a D Max X series se 2.5 - Any information would be good.

Any advice would be also good. Trucks is not my strong point.

    Thank you

  8. Not been to Pty for years, last time we went it was not a resort I would wish to visit again, there are I am told lots of great areas around Pty that are okay to live. There is lots of attractions around Pty that I guess is the main draw. Supermarkets, lots of food options, zoo's ect the sea. So for some a condo might be a good investment if you feel you could at some point be happy to live in Pty.

On a personal note Pty is not a place I would wish to live or invest particularly as in my opinion there are many other nicer places in Thailand to live

  9. Hello

Great reply's thank you all, it seems to swing one way to me,

Thailand is a fair investment if you intend to live there, Uk is a safer bet as rental incomes are more likley to offer rewards later down the line.

I am going to be looking at Condo's next time we go, Hua Hin is the place of choice for me, but very expensive, but easy access from BK, nice and simple.

Prices here in the Uk are shifting up a small amount and in the places they are not they are stable. So further careful investment here would be my choice for now.

  10. The UK property market is set to collapse, once that ijit M King is out the way and the BOE start to tackle inflation your investments in the UK wil fall like a stone....The condo market in Thailand especially Pattaya is booming....I certainly know what I would do

    That's all arse about face.

Why...........???........houses in the UK are increasing and selling well?????.decent sized and priced condos in Pattaya are not selling at all..............get out a bit more and you might get up to speed on the world economy

Still trying to talk up real estate I see.

OP you will get a few real estate agents on here trying to big up the property market here but the truth is it's overpriced and doesn't sell and the rental market is low as well.

Best keep your money in UK if rental opportunities are strong as real bargains can be had with property prices already having fallen significantly.

Edit: oh and ask these guys that think the property market is so great in Pattaya how many units they own?

ESB7 - Just to confirm where you stand, is your advise or suggestions from experience or just your thought, are you an owner or properties

Hi thanks for the reply, is this a reply based on knowledge and experience or just you personal thoughts. Not sure investing all my money in Condo's in Pattaya would be a great idea, but thank you for your reply and I will consider my options

  12. We are planning our inevitable move to Thailand and I would like to get your thoughts on this.

We have some property in the Uk that is rented and the value of the properties value is growing steadily I am considering this year further property investment with a view to using rental income from the properties to live on once we move to Thailand. Property demand in the Uk for rental is high and we have very few times when we have no tenants.

    However

Would it be good to open a Thai company and make property investments also in Thailand ?

    Your thoughts please,

  13. Should foreigners pay more

    Yes.......................

Lots of thoughts on this no issue to me,

Thai’s pay the same as tourists

    Result

Thai’s then do not get a chance to go as the price is too high ??

Thai’s that do go out will stop going so often

Revenues decrease and push up our prices we pay further

Attraction becomes run down and closes or become less frequented

Tourist’s pay the same as Thai’s

    Result

The well kept attractions end up in the type of condition we do not care to much for.

    Facts

If we pay the same as Thai’s we will have to expect the same facilities as them, squat toilets and general poor conditions, we will also have the same food as Thai’s such and rice with everything

Thailand is cheap already and as our salaries are massively higher than the majority of Thai’s where is the problem ?

    Not our choice to decide

Thai’s are very patriotic and have an underlying need to put their own country folk first over other Non Thai’s – is this wrong

Most families with half Thai children get treated as thai’s with Thai rates as they should, never an argument though

Double pricing everywhere, we ( in the Uk ) have a local museum and we have free entry, but if you’re not a Gloucestershire resident you have to pay entrance.
