    Good luck.

TYPICAL thai authorities most of time think us falrlangs are loaded with cash its about time they allowed farlangs to work here with no work permit just a background check needed so that us farlangs hanging on by a thread can get by its disgusting not allowing us to work to get some money in to get by with but to continuely fine us .

I find that excuse a bit lame because of the Vegetarian Festival. they would have been in quarantine would they not?

would you fancy been in quarentine for 2 weeks just eating vegetables ? thats probably the message the chinese got , confused or what ? yes is the answer in dealing with bozos . instead of employing a farlang from england who can speak english who can also speak chinese then the message would have got across . thais wont do that though as its loss of face .

Son just bought a 3500sqft house on 5 acres in Montana for 560k

these bozo's think thailand is be all and end all and they think we dont have any choice , could get a house in middle of london or exotic island somewhere other than thailand for 750,000 pounds and a sound investment elsewhere , they ought to concentrate on farlangs that can buy a condo of 1 million -4 million baht there are alot more of them now still in thailand who are stuck here and could do with a work permit to pay bills here and be able to go out and spend money in go go bars , girls , and beer bars if they were able to work even some on retirement visas are struggling , thais say they want foreigners to spend more here but they wont give you a work permit to earn money and then be able to spend it, the usual thai mentality .

Sep by step.  Thailand will allow retirees back in due time.  Yesterday I talked to a retiree who came in on the STV.  He will extend for a year near the end of his 3rd three-month extension.  He said he was pleased with his treatment at the airport and at the quarantine hotel.  I think that Thailand is doing the best that it can with the limited quarantine facilities available.

Feelings of frustration are understandable.  I can’t go to Tokyo to take care of pressing business because the way is not yet open to return to Thailand.

My sympathies to retirees but buck up.  This new two factor monoclonal antibody treatment holds great possibilities if it is found the be generally safe.  The American government is vowing to make it available for everybody free.  If it does, it could probably by duplicated and made available by Thailand - at a high price, no doubt.

Was he pleased with the 100,000 baht bill he got for his 14 day isolation on arrival ? i doubt it unless he is rich

They were in complete denial about the stupidity of their own actions on here shortly after the lockdown commenced. Blaming everyone except themselves for their own bad decisions.

It was obvious that a lockdown could happen as early as end of Feb so anyone travelling subsequent to that period took a massive risk.

Well, it's not really your home is it? Or are you still in denial about your status here?

Some people will never learn I guess.

i flew back into thailand on the 15th march from philippines i left there after only 4 nights as manila was locked down and i got the last flight out of there back to thailand , since then my flight back to uk has been cancelled 2 times by thai airways and my travel agent in uk has gone bust so i cannot change date on my ticket which expires on 2nd december and thai airways wont do anything as they say the ticket belongs to the uk travel agent even though thai airways have been paid they still wont give me a refund or just put me down next year to go back uk when they are flying again as all tickets booked direct with thai airways have been extended 1 year but mine they cannot do anything terrible customer service thai airways and nowhere to complain on their website i had to go to their head office in bangkok to tell them but they still wont do anything so i will have to buy another flight when i go back uk , the 1 thing i have got though is i applied for a 15 month retirement visa on 31st july the last day and have now got that from august to near end of november 2021 so i can stay here in thailand , i would not want to be back in uk as its lockdown after lockdowni am better off here in thailand with my 20 year old girlfriend i can cuddle up to her all winter ha ha LOL

Because the STV and it's choice of the countries eligible are purely political.

The scheme was created to make the people believe that the government does something to rescue the tourism industry, while their agenda is more the opposite. It's about willingly ruining the industry for making it a bargain for Chinese investers. So, of course, it's the Chinese who are allowed to come firstly.

Also note that it is well known that there is always a lot of symbolism involved in the politics of China, and the Thai government follows the wishes of it's friends.

Back in March China praised it's Thai friends for beeing the last who did not blame China on the crisis and who kept the borders still open for Chinese tourists. And today, you can be sure that China told Thailand not to open the borders for anyone until the first Chinese will come. So, because of this symbolism, China told Thailand to let nobody in before the first tourists (or investors) from China are ready to come.

Also, it's quite clear that these Chinese who come are hardly real tourists. No normal Chinese tourist could effort the time and cost of the scheme. They are long stay investors, and they will stay a very long time.

As I wrote in another post, still the list of countries eligble obviously is:

    1. China

    2. n/a

why should they let in high risk countries like UK , i am from UK and the useless job boris has done its no wonder they dont let UK in , brexit is a shambles also but boris could not care less , its a good job i am still here in thailand marooned since march and no help from british gov . not a single free flight back after telling us to return , my flight has gone down the swannie my travel agent gone bust in uk but still no help and i will have to pay for another flight to get home NO HELP FROM UK GOV. so i am putting 2 fingers up to them and staying here till at least march next year and if situation changes i will go back then but at least i will be here for this winter so good luck boris and co with the black ice and virus and pubs closing at 10pm but do what you want before 10pm what stupid rules , meanwhile im gonna be sunbathing on the beach and swiming in the sea and the girls will keep me entertained ha ha

What happened to the ‘mass arrests’ that the police threatened for anyone still here after 26? Looks like it was a bluff.

I want a rebate as i got a 15 month retirement visa for 25,000 baht when i did not need one it started in august and goes till november 2021 now i have got to stay here or else  i have wasted my money instead of getting an extension free till 31st october then getting 60 day visas which would be cheaper i was going to go back in march next year to uk i would have only needed 2 x 60 day visas probably costing about 100 pounds or 4,000 baht then could have gone back to uk to work till november 2021 so i have lost 21,000 baht , the only way i will make it slightly pay is to stay here till november 2021 but then i wont be able to save up by working in uk till then , pratts imigration bozos are

6 months sitting on their hands despite being given plenty of warning about what will happen post amnesty. Those taking advantage of the situation that never obtained further permission to stay are now crying like babies blaming Immigration for following the law of the land. One group I do have sympathy for however are those that have businesses here finding themselves in a virtually impossible situation, on the verge of losing everything and facing deportation to boot.

I PAID 25,000 BAHT FOR 15 MONTHS retirement visa now im thinking why did i bother i was rushed into it i could have just got the special 3 month visa for 2000 baht , immigration scammers

Exactly its going to cost 100,000 baht for 2 weeks quarentine and covid test then lets say you stay another 6 weeks to make it 2 months it will have cost you 6 weeks accomodation 60,000 baht + 100,000bt thats 160,000 baht for 6 weeks holiday accomodation as you cannot count 2 weeks locked up as holiday in gbp thats 4,000 pounds for 6 weeks who in their right mind is going to pay that ? ohhh i forgot the bafoons who thought it up can .

i just paid 25,000 baht for a 15 month visa , if this new visa comes in it would be 10,000 baht for 15 months typical thais screw you for as much as possible and not take care of retirees and  expats , i t was my first visa and i had to pay an agent to do it instead of 800,000 baht in the bank

There were a lot of doubts about them being guilty of that crime ... many think they were scapegoats for the real murderer , may be a member of an influential family on Koh Tao ... their guilt has never been proven 100% .

But . if the real murderer would have been a Thai national , it would have damaged ' Thailand's reputation ' , a ' loss of face ' .

That cannot be allowed of course .

Anyway it will never be proven beyond doubt who killed the british couple on Sairee beach ...

a documentary on the case had another british citizen that was there at the time as the top suspect in the killing , he quickly departed from the island after it happened .

If his prediction is correct, I wouldn't be surprised at all. It's a gross overreaction at this point, and Thailand needs to learn how to live with this virus just like most of the other countries have. Either they don't understand this or they don't have the capacity, resources and facilities to handle domestic infections

no tourists allowed and even married husbands with kids in thailand should be allowed into thailand until december 2021 for the safety of thais and farlang here thats the best solution

555....555 now they want/need us and came back begging......, all good no problem but we have a couple requests such as : No More dual pricing at ANY facilities, that includes hotels, restaurants, water parks, natural parks and so forth and since our purchasing power has been dropping on a daily basis due to baht appreciation, once and for all just depreciate the damn baht to allow us to spend some more money

100% correct the GBP Should be 80 baht to the pound it was 70 baht to uk pound 20 years ago so with prices going up in thailand it should be 80 baht to the uk pound and us expats have been getting ripped off ever since now at 40 baht to GBP  riddiculous i cant buy a condo here now and wont while its at this rip off value about time thais realised this no wonder condos are not getting bought or sold until GBP goes back to 70 straight away dont buy  a condo or spend less not more

If im travelling with my son for his admission in school to we have to do medical insurance plus covid 19 insurance equal to 100000 usd$ still or just medical insurance will do?

not only thatbut you will also have to pay 200,000 baht for quarentine 14 days this is for 2 people 100,000 baht x 2 = 200,000 baht given to immigration on arrival and money not seen again

Some ME folk have already used their 60 day extension. Some offices will not issue non o without permission of stay in passport. Those folk need attend immigration and check requirements.

Immigration at jomtien wont answer questions they only angrly tell you and they dont give the right information anyway , i recently went only on friday and was told i cannot get a retirement visa now i must leave thailand by 26th september as i went 2 weeks earlier and because i did not do a retirement visa there and then the immigration officer says i now cannot get a retirement visa i must leave thailand when in fact this is incorrect i can go to a visa agency and get it done there right now  , the immigration officer is obviously lying because i did not do it with them as they knew an extension was coming up also i asked how much would it cost to enter thailand  if i went back to uk and came back to thailand in december , the immigration officer said she nobody knows but i think they do and are not telling tourists as i was told by a friend that he knows somebody who arrived recently and they had to pay 100,000 baht to go into quarentine and pay for hotel accomodation in isolation and get a corona test obviously thailand officials dont want tourists to know this as nobody will come if they know .

the 3rd world brain thinking makes your mind boggle , in a time when tourists are needed lets give them till 26th sept no longer , try to get info at jomtien immigration is extrutiating they dont like to give info which is the reason you go there for , would be a good idea to put the GBP V THB  up to 80 baht to GBP then it would encourage us farlangs to stay longer .
