It is simply to try and stop parties and social gatherings over the Songkran period in order to help stem the spread of the virus. Nothing more and nothing less. Every other opinion is just based purely on lame conspiracy theories.

if its to do with songkran parties and social gatherings over the new year 13-15 april then why ban sales of alcohol until end of april ? i stay in pattaya which as far as i know has the longest songkran in thailand of just over a week , starting on the 10th april till the 19th april there is still the ban on alcohol till the 30th april ????? why ????? when songkran has finished 11 days ago , typical 3rd world mentality by the dictatorship

It's your typical use a grenade to kill a cockroach junta approach

Remember they banned all alcohol on trains forever, when a crazed drug addled scumbag employee of the Thai rail network raped and killed a young girl.

Rather than address their incompetence for hiring such a nefarious POS they decided to ruin a lot of people's enjoyment permanently

I used to really enjoy the night trains, have a few beers and a bit of food, then drift off into the land of nod

i bet the general is washing down his ingenious ideas with 10 bottles of leo

If you’re using any kind of mask, you need to first make sure it doesn’t become one more contamination zone. Wilson emphasized that you need to wash your hands before you put a mask on, before you take it off and after you take it off.

who is going to sit with someone for 10 hours ???

Thereby creating a virus epicentre. These bombs will be exploding all around Thailand.

Why not just forget about the money and announce an extension for all? The cost of spread will wipe out any revenue gains.

thi governing bodies are not bothered if foreigner gets virus as they will get money for treating us , and also they get money for foreigners paying for visas , sp the first thought o thai authority is MONEY MONEY MONEY the last thought is of giving free extended visas , last time i come here to thailand

Surely, health officials have recommended a 4 to 6 week "closure" (like everywhere else). But the TAT could not possibly go with that.
A 2 week "closure" is about as useful as closing the barn door after the horse has bolted out of the barn before.

Where do i get my beer ? usually there is a lock in a bar somewhere, or ladyboys hanging around in the shadows , or a drunk 20 year old girl looking for customers sounds like fun

This guy is obviously looking for a promotion from his xenophobic boss. Yes, blame it on those filthy unwashed foreigners who refuse to wear masks. But wait... if the foreigners are the major spreaders, why haven't they figured more prominently among the infected? I guess we can't let logic get in the way of a good foreigner put-down story.

    same same but different

And what does he base this gem on? Methinks he's been reading Thai Visa.

IMHO there are just as many farangs around as there were at this time last year, if not more.

Are you a spokesman for TAT  ?   businesses are suffering , there are half as many tourists as there used to be , the good news is there are more women for me , about time it was 80 baht to the uk pound not the pawltry 40 to uk pound we have at moment , the other good thing is immigration will be getting less money on visas the greedy sods he he he

The TM 99 will soon follow .. to be completed when you shop at Big C .......

thai immigration have added the exceptions instead of just scrapping them because it saves face , they dont want to look as stupid as they are , the 1st time i used to come to thailand in the 1990s i could get a 1 year multi entry tourist visa or a 1 year multi entry business visa , but then immigration got greedy and less and less time allowed to stay in thailand thats why we are at the 60 day visa and then pay for an extension of 30 days , the message is clear GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY NOT YOU ! so i will be going somewhere else and they will no longer have my hard earned money !
