Absolute chav scumbags did this. I feel for the guy, hopefully they will get caught and no 500 baht fines please.

I also feel for foreigners here who get beat down 7 on 1, even if it was for being an annoying drunk. We all make mistakes.

i dont know why this is such an important story , i see violence in uk every day with yobs , cant even go on a night out in a city without running into such animals thats one of the reasons why im over here to go out and have fun but still seen a few incidents over here but it is less likely than uk

Maybe he needs a few Maths Teachers too and will all of these folks have HEALTH INSURANCE ?

The Government has just embarked on  ANOTHER round of ejecting White Foreigners from the FOREIGN HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME.
It is only open to “Foreigners from neighbouring countries.”

its a pity they dont realise the potential in other areas of work such as sales , i do sales back in uk and also have a tefl cert, and have done teaching english just to get by , and i would much rather do sales over here , the thai argument is well we have already got sales man , but how many understand the farlang and how to sell to them not many ! some cannot even speak a good standard of english

it was a total accident and he did apologise to him i feel shown up by this kind of behaviour by a fellow uk person absolutely shameful , and he deserves 30 days in the nick to appreciate thailand more then deport him

What and expats living here do nothing for the economy , maybe you should look at ways of helping us instead of making it harder .

exactly all these skilled and also unskilled tourists who could work and stay and pay taxes to thai government ridiculous how thailand does not want that , think its too late to get tourists to trust immigration anymore , GBP at 39 baht to pound scares me , also only a 2 month visa and cannot do more than 3 months a year , one squirt and its 2000 baht wish i was on 50 pounds an hour , they should be glad i did not go to another country that appreciates tourists , i will be next year going elsewhere

I'm currently back in the uk, living on trifle, pork pies and english sausages  - the veg can wait until i get back to thailand next month.

I came back last autumn . I guarantee you'll be so happy when the trees start to change in a month or so and your lungs fill with those damp leaves

no thanks i leave uk when it gets to december and come back in may

Exchange rate is bad, costs are going up, visas are getting a lot harder to get, and more competitive alternatives are arising.

it isn't really surprising stuff. Thailand ain't that cheap anymore. Aussie dollar is like 21.7 thb these days. A lot of things are cheaper back in Aus now,

100% true , GBP is now 38.4 to pound and with brexit coming up expected once uk is out of EU the pound can drop within 5 years to 29 baht to pound as UK will have to have a low pound for exports to bring money in to UK so even fewer brits will be coming and EURO will go the same way down , thailand needs to devalue the thai baht to 70 baht to the GBP to get tourists back , i myself am not going back to pattaya or if i do it wont be for more than 2 months as i usually have 6 months off work at a time so i will be going to another cheaper place than thailand , put it this way if i pick up a girl in pattaya nightclub take her home she will want 2,000 baht almost 60 pounds for 1 squirt or 2 if your not too inibriated , its cheaper in england .

They can refuse a visa-exempt, but that doesn't mean you did any thing illegal.

The 2x rule only applies at land-borders.  There is no official limit by air.

Sometimes they have said 180 days (a lie), and now told you 90-days (another lie).  There is no legal limit on how long you can be in the country as a tourist.  The only rules have to do with not working, having money to support yourself, and not breaking laws (real ones).

This is typical of the law-breaking IOs at the Bangkok Airports, who also deny people with valid Tourist Visas entry based on lies.  But, be aware, "visa-exempt" entries are at immigration's discretion, so it's even more risky to enter on those.

You can get 2x visa-exempts per calendar-year at law-abiding land-borders (all except Poipet/Aranya) by simply following the rules (cash + flight-out + rental/hotel booking).  The Malaysian entry-points also demand a night out, but that comports with the "no out/in run" policy for visa-exempts.

If you plan to spend more than occasional time in Thailand as a tourist, you will need to get Tourist Visas, and then enter only at law-abiding land-borders, or risk being denied-entry.  One workaround is flying to Penang, entering by train, then flying on from Hat Yai.  If going to your passport-country regularly, a METV is a good choice to eliminate needing to shop around for Tourist Visas.

Hi thanks for the information , i now need some more information .

I arrived in thailand on the 5th dec 2018 with a 60 day visa i got in england i had a return plane ticket date of 3rd june 2019 from bangkok when my 60 day visa was finishing i got a 30 day extension which i paid at jomtien 1,900 baht , when that was finishing on 4th march i went on holiday to singapore for 2 nights arrived back to suvrummami airport on 6th march after an interview was given a free 30 day stamp that was finishing on 4th april then i got a 30 day extension at jomtien 1900 baht till 4th may now i have to leave thailand on 4th may am i allowed to go to phom phen thai embassey and get a 60 day visa to enter back into thailand till my return flight to uk on 3rd june ? or if i fly back into thailand without a visa will the airport immigration give me another free 30 day visa ? when i asked this question to jomtien immigration they said yes i can get one BUT THEY SAID THE AIRPORT IMMIGRATION THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY WILL DO , i said to IMO at jomtien i thought jomtien immigration was for immigration of all of thailand IMO said yes we are BUT WE DONT KNOW WHAT THE AIRPORT IMMIGRATION WILL DO !  THIS SITUATION SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED by international law immigration at suvummami airport are breaking international law , i now know where the saying of SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT COMES FROM !! please could someone give me an answer to my question as jomtien immigration dont know the answer they said i have to go to suvummami airport in bangkok and ask immigration there BUT SURELY THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE SITUATION , no wonder tourists are going elsewhere than coming to thailand and i have been coming to thailand for 24 years but am now thinking of going elsewhere along with the ridiculous exchange rate of 41 baht to the english pound i should be getting 80 baht to the pound !

So to summarize you needed to show activity on day of application, which is the norm. You were asked to bring bankbook with you and bank letter, on your next 90 day report?

Would have been good if you had asked that if you where  travelling outside los at that time what is required.

It seems more and more apparant to me that immigration and the military government more and more are taking over our lives to move thailand more towards a miltary state and a dictatorship . with elections looming lets hope it changes and instead of us bowing and saying thank you to them , they will start to recognise they should be saying thank you to us for all the money and time we spend here . i have been coming to thailand for 24 years and NEVER had 1 day of overstay , i think i should be given a medal never mind a thank you , i had an experience of bullying by immigration officer at the Suvarnabhumi airport in bangkok , i got a 60 day visa in uk to come to thailand i extended that 30 days , went to jomtien immigration to get my extension and asked what do i do when that finishes i was told i had to go out of thailand and come back in and i would get 30 days so i went at the end of the extension to singapore for holiday for 2 nights came back and at airport was taken for interview by immigration and told i was doing illegal ( a complete lie ) as the jomtien immigration said i was allowed to get 30 days eventually i got a 30 day stamp but the immigration guy said LAST TIME ( another complete lie ) as you are allowed to go outside thailand 2 times and get 30 day stamp twice in a year , he also said a tourist can only stay in thailand 3 months a year ,(another lie ) i said to them at jomtien immigration best for me next time to only come to thailand for 3 months and then go somewhere else as i think now alot of tourists are thinking !

Reactions on Thaivisa, a webforum frequented by expats in Thailand, was overwhelmingly negative, with many commentators saying the regulations undercut claims from Thai officials that the deposit is to ensure they have sufficient resources to get by.

“Then why keep up the charade that this money is to cover living expenses if it can only be used six months out of the year,” user Connda wrote. “So…what’s next? What’s the next hammer to drop?”

“And I thought the 800,000 baht was for living expenses, not as an interest earner for the Thai banks!” user Madmitch vented.

there is room in my attic if anyone wants to hide. :clap2:

i actually agree with some of it as it will stop companies putting 800,000 in peoples accounts and charging them 12,500 baht then after the retirement visa is granted they take back their money but now they cannot 400,000 baht has to stay in there and 3 months after 800,000 has to stay in their accounts , i agree with this part as it will stop companies doing it and also ONLY people who genuinly have 800,000 baht to put in their own account will be able to get a retirement visa , therefore you will only get people with funds staying here after all that is what is suppossed to be happening ? otherwise you will get low life staying here in the country it will help in the long run getting better people staying here not scum

"The remaining balance must be no less than 400k". In other words you can no longer get back the remaining 400k even if you leave Thailand for good. If you liquidate your account you're breaking the law.

when you leave thailand for good you leave 1 baht in your account or the minimum then your not breaking the law in that case

my wife is 0% Thai and her behaviour is "minus 50%" Thai.

by the way... for the last 15 years holding THB cash provided a very acceptable yield over most major currencies kept in cash. that's something the resident financial wizzards either don't seem to know or flatly reject because it does not match their perception. for as long as we are resident in Thailand (>15 years) the bottom line was "Baht appreciates" and during this period one finds many dozens, perhaps hundreds of postings with predictions the Thai Baht will crash... any time from now. yawnnnnn...

    examples:

    +46% above Pound Sterling

    +42% above €URo

    +28% above US-Dollar

    +26% above AU-Dollar

thats for now , but if uk stays in EU the pound sterling will rise back to 60 baht to pound and your 46% will end up being 20% up and if the pound rises to 80 baht to pound you will be -6% then you will be wanting to move it back to uk

800.000 baht is not very much if you genuinely have retired and have committed to living in Thailand.

Maybe the people getting worried do not really have enough to retire here? I know many people worry about the exchange rates,if that is the case again maybe they are not financially ready for retirement here?

I am far from being well off but I have put enough money in a Thai account to ensure a worry free retirement.

Interest rates here are no worse than my home country. I am not wealthy enough to speculate and possibly lose on the investment of stocks and shares . Therefore I see no reason not to have savings here.

i agree with alot of what you say maybe they want to eliminate the companies putting 800,000 in peoples accounts till they get a retirement visa then the company withdraws the cash after this might stop that from happening so only people who have got genuinly 800,000 baht can stay here , but there is also a case for example the pound sterling is only a rip off price of 40 baht to the pound sterling if you kept 800,000 baht in an account over here in a thai bank and if uk stays in EU the pound sterling will go up so lets say it goes upto 55 baht to the pound sterling you will have lost over 30% than if you had left it in your uk bank and at the moment we are at a point where depending what happens in brexit the pound will either go up or down , the experts have said that if uk leaves EU the pound could go down to 29 baht to the pound sterling but then again if uk stays in EU then the pound sterling could go upto 60 baht to the pound sterling we will know soon what happens also

its about time , also its about time not just to look at visas BUT also to get back to 70 baht to uk pound then people will be flooding in , thats what it should be anyway with a view to going upto 80 baht to pound , they might also get alot of condos sold at same time if exchange rate is at this level which it should be !!

  17. Does not matter how much money you have skydiving without a parachute is deadly , you would think someone who has the money and sense to build a business and get a very good income from it, would have more sense and would pay only 200 baht to have a locksmith come and open his door , he obviously did not value his own life for more than 200 baht i am sorry it came to this but i dont have any simpathy for someone stupid enough to attempt to climb over balconies 39 floors up , you would think he would have sold it and bought a condo on the 1st floor then any " accident, " as it is always put in thailand would result in possibly a broken arm and NOT death, i am also wondering how many times he locked himself out and attempted the same thing , what a stupid action and it shows that money does not always bring happiness as he showed 200 baht was more worth than his life.

  18. I smammed the scammers !!

A few years ago i was in loas vientienne and got talking to 2 africans who assured me they had a magic potion that could change a 5 dollar note into a 100 dollar note, they said come to our room and we can show you. So i went with them and they sure enough got a five dollar bill out poured chemical onto it and it changed into a 100 dollar bill, they said now do you beleive us ? i smelled a scam but thought i will play along with it !! so i said whats the deal, they said we have 1 million dollars that is in thailand that is locked away and is disguised as 5 dollar bills but is really 100 dollar bills and we need the key which we can tell you where the key is and the chemicals unfortunately we only have this 1 example and we dont have any more money to go and get the key and money and chemicals, but we are looking for a partner ( such as me ) to go get the money and split it with them, but i would have to leave a deposit of 10,000 dollars with them as security till i return and obviously i would then have 1/3 of a million dollars they said are you on board with us ? (so i thought i will play along with this ) so i said how do i know that the 100 dollar they just changed from a 5 dollar bill was genuine and would be accepted ? they said it would as they had done it before with a few notes, so i said let me make sure its a genuine note i said i would go into a bar and order a drink and see if they give me change but i needed 1 night also to sleep on the propositon they proposed i said i would have to take the 100 dollar note and try it out that night in a bar !! THE SCAMMERS FELL for MY SCAM !!

and THEY SAID OK !! so i walked out with a 100 dollar bill.

later that night i went to the bar in a lively place in vientienne and ordered a big loas beer and sure enough i got the change ended up pulling a gorgeous girl 20 years old a had a great time ( you can imagine ) and the next day ............ NEVER WENT BACK TO THE SCAMMERS THUS .........

    I SCAMMED THE SCAMMERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!

    only 10 thousand dollars
