  1. Case of the Drunk and Jealous Australian

A drunken farang felt so jealous when a fellow countryman looked at his girlfriend he hit the man and then when at prison caused a riot by spitting, insulting and swearing at police officers.

and the moral of this story.....never come between an Aussie and his favourite sheep.

    Antipodean

    Uneducated

    Sheep

    Shagging

    Interbred

    Eejit

Sorry to say that its always been a new zealander and his sheep, us aussies like our sheep bbq not skewered.Every year when the bledisloe is on the aussies alway sledge the kiwis about sheep,i take it you dont know much about aussies or kiwis otherwise you would know about this sheep thing

So now we`ve got Wallabies and Sheep.............you`re not trying to pull the Wool over his eyes are you? :o

  2. Has any member made a thai do it yourself will ?

I'm off home shortly and having bought a house just outside Pattaya think it prudent to make a will here.

All the beneficeries will be Thai ( g/f 20%, a Thai friend 5% and 3 charities will share the remaining 75% ).

I have been quoted 6000bt and 10000bt which I think is excessive, but think it is possible to write it up yourself have it translated into Thai and witnessed by 2 independant people. The only problem I envisage is where will the will be kept. I would think the best bet would be to take the original document I have drafted back to the UK with me and give it to the solicitors that hold my UK will and in the event of my impending demise they can sort it from there but I am not sure it woul be feasible or recognized by the Thai authorities.

Any ideas gratefully read and considered.

My advice to you is to go to a good Thai lawyer and get the will drawn up legally.

For the sum involved it seems a good investment.

You can always register the will on line i.e. where the will is kept without having to give details of the will at willsindex.com I think it costs 10$ to do this and you can alter details without further charge should you wish to do so.

  3. All,

I got all the paper work together and now need to go to the Pattaya area DL office. Is this called the Land and Transportaion Office?

    Where is the office?

    Its address?

Would it just be easier to have a taxi drive me there?

    thanks in advance,

    LLL

For Thai drivers licence you will need to go to the Eastern Verification Centre which is approx

    18 kms from Pattaya.

Directions ........Travel north on Highway 3 (Sukhumvit Rd to bangkok). After about 10kms you will see an overpass bridge on your right......you need to pass under the bridge, turn right and follow Route 36 to Rayong.

After about 9kms you will see `The School of the Regents` on your right hand side. The road that you need is just before the school. Go past the School and there is a place to do a `u` turn.

Now drive just passed the School again and turn Sharp Left at a narrow road which is poorly signed.........follow this road a short way and you will see a number of shops. On your right there is a large building with Two Grand entrances (use the 2nd)....This is the Eastern Verification Centre Office.

Driving licences are upstairs and is open Monday to Friday 08.30 to 4.00p.m.

  4. Looking for serious vipassana meditation retreat, if anyone has up to date information.

There is a Vipassana meditation centre just off the Sukhumvit Road at the junction with Watboon Road.

You get there by going to Jomtien and take the Watboon Road to the end at the junction with Sukhumvit Road and turn right and it is on your right.

  5. In February I decided to give Mr. Toom a try as the rate 1200baht including all tolls seemed very reasonable.

I arranged via email for Mr. Toom to collect us from the airport at 6.30a.m. and duly received a reply confirming the arrangement and that some one will be waiting with my name held up on a board.

On entering the arrivals hall there was no-one displaying my name. I checked again....not there so I decided to wait a few minutes just in case traffic had held up the driver.

10 minutes later and still no sign.

I asked a lady who seemed to be in contact and organising the other drivers who were waiting if she knew who Mr. Toom was and told her that he had not turned up. She said that she didn`t know him and so I gave her the confirmation email and she very kindly said that she would telephone the number and try to locate him.

She telephoned the number and said that the taxi would be along shortly.

15 minutes later a lady called Eve walked into the meeting area carrying a board which had the name Toom on it but not my name..........and she then took us to Pattaya.

I for one will not be using Mr Toom again as this is not the first time that I have heard about him not showing, but it is the first time that I have not been met by a pre-arranged taxi in all the years that I have been arriving at Bangkok airport.

After all if he can`t be bothered to get it right why should I give him my business.

  6. The place next door Canterbury Tales I think it is called seems to be doing well.................I`ve heard a few good reports about the breakfast.

Crazy Daves does offer continuous comedy such as Some Mothers Do Have `Em etc.

Worth popping in to see some of the oldies and have a laugh :o

  7. I heard that Lek Villas is a fairly new mid-range hotel complex on Naklua Road but I've been unable to find it on any hotel website. Does anyone have any recommendations or contact details?

Lek Villa is a new hotel which was opened for business in January last year. It is the sister hotel to the Lek hotel on 2nd road.

It has five floors. The rooms are of a good size and nicely furnished with bath tub and shower and a nice sized balcony. The quietest rooms are located on the 5th floor overlooking the swimming pool

The buffet breakfast is good with a good variety including bacon, ham, fried, scrambled eggs, cerials and fruit juice is available and a selection of thai food including rice with fish/meats etc. Fresh fruit and cakes are also available.

Breakfast is served between 7.00a.m. and 11.00a.m. in the coffee shop which also serves food from it`s own menu with room service available.

The swimming pool is fabulous and is set in a free form style with areas for children and a jaccuzi area. The pool is approx 50 meters long and is one of the biggest in the area.

Safety deposit boxes are available at no extra cost but a deposit of 1000 baht is required.

Overall a nice comfortable hotel with the added benefit of it being fairly new and is located in a quieter area but close to a good variety of retaurants and bars.

The current daily room rate is 1,500 baht....the weekly rate is 1,200 baht and the monthly rate is 30,000 baht. Rates include breakfast.

It is located approx 100 meters north of the Woodlands Hotel or 200 meters North of the Dolphin Roundabout...........and the address is:-

    Lek Villa

    570/274 M5 soi 18/2

    Pattaya Naklua Road

    Hi,

I thought their advertisement is still 1000 Bht. I went there many times for one or two nights last year. It is a nice place. Haven't been there for long time however. How about the joiner's fee, if any nowadays? Last year no probs about that however!

The prices as quoted were correct as of last Tuesday.

  8. Well the place was nice food was good and large servings, a lot better than Jamesons IMHO, especially on prices and ventilation.

Parking would be an issue even if the building site was open could you imagine trying to park there if it rained?

I am not sure what the plan is for the area immediately next to Gullivers in terms of parking but it sure is a mess at the moment......maybe nearer the time of the Official Pissup things will be a little clearer. :D

and a lot more blurred right after it

I think I see what you mean :o

  9. I paid on the way out, prob because of how early I booked my ticket. I expect not to do that next time.

You must have been unlucky brit.

I purchased our return tickets in January in the UK and they did not include the departure tax.

We left last Tuesday and I was not asked for any tax and I could not see where to pay it. i.e. no booth.

  10. I read, a few months ago, that the departure tax you pay at the airport was going to be added to your ticket. Are they doing this yet? Or do you still have to pay it seperately, before you get to immigration?

The departure tax should now be included in the price of your ticket.
