  1. You wouldn`t expect to be paid for any job and to leave halfway through a shift without the employer being compensated would you?

...but I wouldn't start a job where it was expected to leave during shift...and this for a couple of times... :o

    I guess you don`t work behind a bar :D

  2. bar fines are to make up for loss of staff, nothing more.

........agree if the lady is not there to serve drinks etc to customers then there should be compensation for the establishment in the way of a barfine.....after all as mulphy says he pays the lady a wage of 200 baht for the day.

You wouldn`t expect to be paid for any job and to leave halfway through a shift without the employer being compensated would you?

  3. My friend has a gun range in Los Angeles. He has this happen often, they come in, rent a gun and shoot themselves

This does happen so often in Pattaya I am wondering if they started lining the walls of the shooting range with and easy wipe down plastic.

Wall to wall, and floor to floor tiling is their go. With a high pressure water system directing the mess to the drainholes.

..........with a sign saying "If you are going to blow your brains out please pay 100 baht beforehand for the cost of the water"..........."If you are Thai the charge is 50 baht".

Counterfeit Goods Being Sold on Beach Road

There have been a lot of complaints from tourists to Police regarding counterfeit products being sold at extortionate rates in and around Pattaya.

On the 22nd of February at 8.30 pm Police with legal representatives from well known foreign product brands such as Louise Vuitton raided street stalls and shops along Pattaya 2nd Road and Beach Road.

A total of 713 pieces of counterfeit merchandise was seized including caps, wallets, purses, bags, shoes and scarves and 6 vendors were arrested.

All of them were taken to Pattaya Police Station where they have been charged with selling counterfeit products.

Counterfeit good for sale in Thailand!!!

    I AM SHOCKED !!

    Whatever next?

Most of the Louis Vuitton counterfeit bags are made so fast that the stitching is never straight..........easy to spot.............713 pieces of counterfeit is only a fraction of what is sold every minute on ebay..

    Suspect Hotel Thief Apprehended

On the 21st of February at 11.00pm Pattaya Police were called to investigate a robbery at Dariga Lodge Hotel on Soi Diana Inn.

Police and Scientific Crime Detection Officers went to the scene and found Mr. William Handle, aged 38, from England, who took Police to his room.

He told Police that the stolen items were a brand named perfume and a rather expensive Casio wristwatch.

Mr. Handle further told Police that earlier in the evening he went out for dinner and returned to his hotel around 9.00pm to find his valuables were missing.

After questioning hotel staff, Police where informed that one of the residents of the hotel had been spotted acting suspiciously with a shoulder bag.

A motorbike taxi rider whose rank is situated immediately outside the Hotel explained to Police that he had taken the suspicious looking individual from the Hotel to a restaurant in Soi Bangkok, Central Pattaya. Police drove to the location and spotted the Thai who made a run for it, however he was soon apprehended.

Police searched inside his shoulder bag to find car and room keys, a small Buddhist pendant, credit cards, powder of sleeping pills, 2 tablets of yaba, 44,470 Baht and foreign currency valued at 100,000 Baht.

The suspect was taken to Pattaya Police Station where he was identified as Grongan Toombenja, aged 24. He stated to Police that he did not steal any property and the money he had on him was a loan from someone. However, when Police questioned about the foreign currency he could not give an accurate answer.

Quite a wad of dosh...guess he was well at it!....Well done the Police for catching him so quickly.

  6. I find kicking their seat for a bit gets them to put it up if they are still reclined during meals. When/if they turn around to give me a dirty look I smile & say thanks for putting the seat up, was haivng trouble getting confy with my tray shelf down as the space is soooo limited. :D Say it in a totally unsarcastic voice & they usually turn around without a word or look. :D I couldn't care less if it pisses them off, there is a bcasic common courtesy in confined spaces & if they don't know it I am happy to re-educate. :o

If I am sat infront of you Boo I can guarantee that my seat behaviour will conform to the most rigorous of etiquette standards :D ......... I hate the kidney kick :D

  7. don't get the innuendos regarding my name,

anyway got through the week end without any mishaps,

was recovering slowly from a massive hangover yesterday and got news that my ex-wife is trying to track me down !

have posted elsewhere regarding some advice

Poor stuff I'm afraid mate. I you want to learn how to stir the pot you only have to follow the brilliant Kerryk and his thread.

    Attacked with a Cleaver,author Kerryk

He's used the real life situations of many readers here, pension age and married to a much younger women to weave a believable tale and play upon their insecurities. Every good lie should have some element of truth if you want the suckers to fall in step. :o

    Carry on.

Having joined in the odd KerryK discussion, I kind of resent your suggestion. A rather sweeping statement. Some people just enjoy a bit of banter on a forum, that doesn't make them insecure, does it?

(If you suggest that I'm insecure to respond to this insecurity claim, then I'll just retort that the claimee, who further defends his claim with a further repeat of said original claim is clearly showing the very trait that he claims others guilty of showing.)

Your`e not the one who wrote the instruction assembly manual for my DIY garden bird nesting box are you? because that was gobbledegook as well. The birds have never thanked me for sliding off their misaligned perch :D

  8. Normally the flight attendants will tell the bastards to move seat back. I had that happen on a recent flight to Heathrow, she was intending to eat in a reclined position. :o Luckily flight attendant said smth!!! :D

If you get a b*strd sat in front of you who insists on having his/her seat fully reclined during meal times and you are flying with Qantas don`t even bother to ask the flight attendants to ask them to put the seat upright because they refuse to `bother` the R`soles saying that they do not like to disturb them.

That`s one reason why I don`t fly Quantas anymore.

Now on the other hand most of the Middle Eastern airlines ask people to put their seats upright for meal times.

And anyone unless fast asleep should have the decency and good manners to do it without being asked.

  9. Used ebookers the last six times......efficient and etickets available for most airlines. I usually book within 4 weeks of my journey.

If you intend to travel around Xmas or the new year period it is always best to book well in advance as the prices escalate nearer to the festive season.

Many of the prices you see advertised on various sites do not include taxes and the final price can be subtantially more than what is at first quoted.

  10. Last night about 10.30 I went to McDonalds on Sukhumvit for a late dinner after driving down from Bangkok, After waiting for 15 mins to get the food it was given to me without comment, when i asked for the server if he could possibly say thankyou, he responded with " I look your face, I see you in Pattaya, you are dead!" I thought that McDonalds had a stict code of conduct, Perhaps I was most offended when I called over the female manager, who looked at me and then walked away totally ignoring me.

I received a comment from my 10 year old in the back seat asking why they are so rude, I was absolutely speechless to answer.

I've been living in Pattaya & Bangkok for the last 8 years and accept most things as culture differences but this is riduculous.

If anyone knows the contact address of the head office of McDonalds, I would like to fill them in on this shocking experience.

For what it`s worth my input on this is as follows:-

1.The employee was wrong in saying what he said to the OP, probably young and stressed at the time (although I wish I had a 100 baht for everytime I have not been thanked in my life. I`d be on my yacht now and not posting on TV)

    2. It would be interesting to know exactly what the OP asked the `server` and what tone it was said in. It does not look as though we have the full verbal request here and what has the server to thank the OP for? This part loses me.

    3. In my opinion It is not the OP`s job to educate the `server` as to his manners this is down to the Management of the establishment.

    4. To the OP `get over it` and move on. By following this up you will only antagonise the situation further.

Yes the employee was wrong by saying what he did but making him lose face will not improve his manners.

I have eaten in Macdonalds and ordered food which I have had to wait for sometimes up to 5 minutes and sometimes queued for as long, I thought that this was part of the self sevice way of eating but why should the server thank me for waiting or paying? It`s the food I`m after and thank you or not would not spoil my meal :o

  11. we all mock and decry macdonalds , for the bland formulated stuff they serve and the awful plastic surroundings they are served in , but the fact remains that , as unhealthy as it may be , as unfashionable as it may be , and even though to be seen eating a macdonalds product immediately labels you a pathetic defeatist who has given up on life , it is well nigh impossible to get a better tasting french fry this side of "the two brothers" chip shop on regents park road in north west london.

and sadly tax they don`t serve it wrapped in newspaper any longer :o

  12. <deleted> food

    <deleted> service

    <deleted> concept

    <deleted> prices

With the wealth of choice available in the Thai food industry, I feel those who patronise MacDonalds have failed to show any imagination.

This, in no way, excuses death threats or even a lack of courtesy.

Well I like many diverse foods including Thai food...good Italian food.........and many others including fish`n` chips.....and on occasions Macdonalds...........imagination has quite honestly nothing to do with it.

Lack of imagination narrows your choice of food outlets.

Bruno`s one day and the next Macdonalds for a snack nothing wrong with that! :D

I like the small Macdonalds at the bottom of Beach Road...always good service with a smile from the young people who work there. :o

Dubai man drugged and robbed by Pattaya Beach Sex Worker.

We now take you to the Midtown Inn located on the Pratamnuk Road opposite the Marine Plaza Hotel. Police were called to the location at around 1pm on Tuesday Afternoon after information relating to a Hotel Guest who was reportedly wandering around the grounds of the Guest House in a dazed state was received.

We joined Police who found the man; Mr. Joseph Funey aged 30 from Dubai, wandering around in a confused state. He managed to explain to Police that he had checked into the Hotel at 2am earlier that morning with a woman he had picked up from Pattaya Beach known as “Namfon”.

Hotel staff checked his room at 1pm after he failed to checkout at Midday and found the confused man. Mr. Funey further explained that he remembered the woman using a spray directed at his face.

He then passed out and was awoken by Hotel Staff in the afternoon. Details regarding any stolen items could not be taken from the victim who was still feeling the effects of the spray. He is now in Hospital and will be questioned further when he recovers.

We must warn tourists that men or women taken from the beach back to your Hotel room, house or apartment exposes you to a significant risk and we ask you to think twice before taking such a person back to your abode.

    Will they never learn?

Now using sprays to inflict the knock out drops.......probably some sort of animal anaesthetic.

Woman threatens to take her own life with a meat cleaver in Central Pattaya.

Police and rescue workers were called to the Tawan Beauty Salon on the Central Pattaya Road at 10.30 on Tuesday Morning after the shop owner, Khun Arirack, informed the Police that a woman who lives in a rented room above the shop was sitting in the corridor and was threatening to kill herself with a meat cleaver.

Police were told that earlier that morning she had perched herself on the roof of the building and was threatening to jump but Khun Arirack persuaded her to come down. She mistakenly thought that was the end of the problems.

Eventually the young woman, Khun Min aged 23, was disarmed and taken to the ground floor where she appeared in a confused and mentally disturbed state. It was decided that for her own safety she would be taken to Banglamung Hospital for an assessment of her mental state.

Another Meat Cleaver story although this one seems to be genuine.

Let us hope that she gets the treatment that she needs. We`ve seen enough suicides in Patters recently.

  15. OK - your translations were similar to my interpretation of the instructions, but I still couldn't open the ###### thing!

In frustration, I turned to drink and downed 6 beer Lao . . . .

I then found that in my drunken state, I could open the safe at every attempt :D

Not sure what this proves though . . .

    Simon

Simon, you have a hotel right? Do you have a website? I want a 3 or 4 day break at the end of the month, am contemplating Phuket, and I'd rather give business to a Thaivisa member - particularly a decent one, like yourself.

Amazing how people want to move in with you when you publish your safe combination on the net :o

    Just kidding :D

  16. Always Tony's Disco??? :D (assuming that was a piss taking thread since I assume most think Tony is a <deleted>)

Def taking the Michael............Could you ever imagine Tony being Number 2.........his ego wouldn`t handle not being Number 1 :D

Actually he would have his own forum that way you could speak about how great he is and all things Tony. :D

we've got the Donz for that purpose....

    :o:D

  17. thanks for the feed back , please keep it coming.

obviously im an owner there but a few comments have surprised me. especially the one suggesting ""it has an unsavoury side "". please elaborate , as im not aware of anything unsavoury ever happening in the soi.

the speed bumbs are a bit severe , i agree , but i must say , i do see most guys not giving them the respect they deserve , hence the scratches and bumps.

im also not aware of it being one of the kinkiest streets in pattaya , never mind the world as a poster suggested, though of course it has its fair share of things to sidetrack you.

somebody made a comment re pimps and old tarts , never met a pimp in soi l.k. metro , and as for the old tarts comment , no older nor younger than tarts anywhere.

Most of the `adverse` seedy comments were made by a `would be novelist` so take it with a pinch of salt. :o

  18. I have had a number of extractions over the years with little problem other than the usual soreness and aching for a week or so.

Just a week before this last Xmas I had the usual painful symptoms which I have experienced before this time with an upper rear tooth next to the back one.

After Xray the dentist said that there were 2 options either a root canal or an extraction and as the opposing bottom tooth had already been removed I decided to have the extraction.

During the extraction the dentist said "Oh"! to the dental nurse.

It transpired that the next tooth which was the back tooth had come so loose during the extraction that it would have to be removed as well.

I did not know whether it was the fault of the dentist or the way the tooth was that caused it to become loose although it was very firm before.

I rinsed with hot salt water three times a day but the jelly like filling did not occur and the gap just wouldn`t heal.

My remedy of swilling the mouth with brandy several times during the evening did however begin to provide a certain amount of numbness :o

Anyway the pain which I had was very severe and at the end of January I went back for a check up and it had still not healed. It is just about healed now but at times I was in agony and even the painkillers were not working.

So It doesn`t always follow that every extraction is the same and I wish that I had opted for the root canal rather than the extraction. :D

Amen to that. I too wish I had been persuaded to keep it.

I forgot to mention that I had 2 stiches inserted to seal the wound, and they were removed after a week - last Tuesday. The wound is still very deep, but today was the first time in 2 weeks that I have been almost free of pain, although last night it was quite bad.

I'm glad I'm not the only person in the world to suffer from extractions - but I wouldn't wish the pain I've been through on my worst enemy.

My wife now says that I am whistling out of tune and I tend to drink the whisky quicker before it dribbles out of my mouth :D

Oh to be young again and have a mouthful of Knashers :D
