The big question here is whether they restrict inter-provincial transport or not as looks like they are trying not to be too severe because of the the massive problems that come along with that (but may end up with no choice). Not saying they won't, but this is the big issue as it'll devastate so much so fast. They may impose a curfew from say 10 in the evening to 6 in the morning but totally closing inter-provincial travel will be a huge move as your income source for your average Thai will take a huge hit and who knows what the public will do when faced with being asked to stay home and do nothing plus earning no money ... and there seems to be little blanket help all round for the poor on the horizon. If they do, then the government might have to dig deep into their reserves.

Will be interesting to see what they say on Thursday and see how far they go.

Just close absolutely every thing and people can stay in their rooms for the next year....

Many restaurants were open today still along second road, beach road

    Bars, massage closed

A few drinking at Hooters today at higher than western prices

Malls open, Big C grocery, Foodland, Central grocery open.

May close restaurants here soon as Bangkok did

    Not your ideal vacation destination

Best stay home and stock up quickly on food and water man

Have you heard the news?  Self isolate (i.e stay at home)

    Peace

This shutdown is the best thing that has ever happened to Hooters..Lots of people hanging there now....

Returning to the reopening of the Punch & Judy I mentioned a few days ago, it's got a new sign outside that says it's an "Italian Risto Pub". Unlucky timing with the virus outbreak to be opening an Italian venue. It's been rebranded as "Pulcinella" but they're keeping the Punch & Judy name as well, presumably to make former customers feel at home.

I don't think it's open yet, my handyman tells me they've got big problems with a leaking water supply, and they're currently digging up the road at the back of the place.

They’re not draconian, they’re common sense measures, intelligent measures.

Why allow any foreigner into your country if they can’t prove they are ‘virus free’ and have sufficient insurance so they don’t drain the resources of the the host nation?

I can see this continuing on after the Covid-19 crisis, whereby Airlines are made accountable not only for checking the Visa Status of foreigners flying to Thailand but also the status of medical insurance. This could be the solution to the long going debate regarding insurance cover for those visiting Thailand.

Of course, some won’t like this because insurance is expensive or they want to self insure (which is usually an excuse for thinking ’nothing will happen to me so I don’t want to pay’).

At this time ‘Tourists’ should not be travelling anywhere anyway, regardless of any measures implemented by Thailand.

Those 'foreigners returning home’ to the families etc can do so freely, albeit with assurance of insurance and a medical certificate. In the face of a global pandemic this are extremely favourable conditions for anyone wishes to return and cares for their community. Many other nations have simply closed off their borders to anyone or implemented a quarantine at a ‘government facility’ which is not something I imagine anyone wants.

    Yawn.....

I have pounded the keyboard many a time trying to bring this empty Indian restaurant anomaly to people's attention....This situation could not exist if someone ??? was not paying the bills every month for all these empty Indian restaurants......

But not many people here seemed very interested in the subject so I quit posting about it...

But this does not change the fact that there are 100s and 100s of all but empty Indian restaurants in Pattaya.....And They have been open for many years too....

I would guess 99% of the few customers they have are Indians....Farangs mostly refuse to pay their expensive prices (and  the Thais/Chinese/Japanese/Koreans refuse to eat there at all)......I don't think the Indians on a tight budget can afford to eat there either........So these 100s and 100s of Indian restaurants are all depending on the middle class Indians almost exclusively to cover the rent, water, electric, gas, food stock, equipment repairs/purchases, taxes, employee salaries , employee visas... etc etc etc

Its just simply impossible.......Yet there they are open year after year....

Indian restaurant update.....It looks to me over half Pattayas Indian restaurants now have now shut the doors and turned off the lights.......Whether they fully go out of business remains to be seen...

What the other posters are trying to say, and apparently you are not willing to consider, is that the mass-hysteria about the virus can, and probably will, be worse than the virus itself.

You may not agree with that, it's fair enough, but we will see what happen in the next weeks/months.

I think scores of people will be dying from the stress of the very heavy handed Coronavirus crackdown......No job no money no food no hope...
