  1. Just spoke to one aircon guy in BKK as I also need one new unit. Not a seller, the service guy. He strongly suggested to stay away from Samsung, LG and Haier. They will break into pieces, plastic parts don't last, and replacement/service will be more costly over the lifetime of let's say 10 years.

If you get a Samsung for really cheap, and they sell the old design now really cheap (same inside as new models), that may offset the possibly higher service costs, particularly in the north, where you can survive half of the time without aircon. In BKK you can't.

  2. Haven't seen any reports of someone being detained for showing the driver license instead of the passport. So may still be ok for the BiB, even though not good anymore for national parks and other cultural rip offs....aehhh....highlights smile.png

  3. These are 2 complete different companies, Mitsubishi Electric and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, they share the Logo but that's probably it.

  4. My Thai driving licence has been enough identification so far .On it is stated my Passport number .

Yes, it's a legal form of identification as it is a picture ID. However police is checking for validity of your visa or whatever you have and there is no possible linkage between your driver license and that.

  5. 600BTU/sqm is often a quoted rough gauge which would be 18,000 for your room size. So many other variables such as how much glass is facing the sun, insulation, etc. From my personal experience I feel 18k BTU will be fine.

I believe that's what HomePro uses. Normally and sufficient is 300.

18BTU will be fine for 30sqm. Even 13 would do.

  6. My account is on zero for at least 6 years and according to the internet it's "temporarily unavailable". That's what it will probably remain for the next 50 or 100 years :)

Did you know with BKK Bank you can't even close an account, unless you go to the branch you opened it? biggrin.png.

    That's patently false.

If your balance goes below a fixed amount for one year (I believe the threshold is 2,000 baht) the account will be closed.

  7. Consider the Electrolux unit, it provides heat also.

I believe all inverter units can heat, but they are more expensive to service. Electrolux is just another Chinese bought over brand. Perfectly ok if you drive a Cherry....Volvo car :)

  8. I'd rather go for the smaller, matching size, for the bedroom. I hate it to wake up in the middle of the night when it is too cold and that's what happens every other night I'm not checking the remote and wife messed around with it :)

  9. If you go to HomePro they will suggest you double of what you need for double the price. There is a formula how to calculate the capacity you need, google it, then buy what you need.

Too small size will run nonstop, thus consuming more energy. Too big will make you sitting in a freezer. Right size is important.

Recommended brands are Mitsubishi, Daikin, Panasonic. Stay away from Samsung, LG and Haier, plastic parts will break regularly and cost you more in service in the long run.

Problem is these website calculators are geared to New York or Seattle or some nice hot state like that. Hardly useable in Thailand.

Try again, or go to HomePro and use half what they tell you. Buy elsewhere.

Watsadu had recently some Mitsubishi promotions.
