I have seen a report (and following argument) on facebook of a person, without PR or any special stay here.. Obtaining a pink card as shown in pattaya.
As usual many denied it was possible until he posted the card with his inflo blurred.
Are they issuing these to anyone on an extension now ??
EDIT :: Looking back a couple of pages it seems so..
Yes, was in the other thread. Got mine from Phra Khanong. You need a yellow tabien baan and corresponding 13-digits Thai ID. Extension is not good enough. Otherwise easy, no questions asked. But not all district offices have the printing machines. My card has a serial number 9, so they issued only 9 of these cards as of last month. .

I believe the problem is rather, if the local amphoe has ever heard of such pink cards and if an alien from somewhere else suddenly appears on stage, they would probably have a good laugh and send you home.
And from home, you should call to the Ministry (the direct number of the department in charge of pink ID cards for foreigners is mentioned earlier in this thread) and inform them of the name of the officer who has not been educated accordingly. Half an hour later, you can go back to the amphur.
There were reports from Chiang Mai that the officer refused to even look into it, stating "Farang can never have Thai ID, why you waste my time". It's somewhere here in TV. Don't think a call to a ministry will improve anything in such situation, to the contrary...

There was an agent before me with what looked like a Chinese guy. Had to come and sit there, some questions asked, they also take a picture. So I'd say you have to come in person.

Gdaya Folks ,
Extension of stay based on marriage .....includes another vital fact for those who are married without children :
for the first and all extensions in subsequent years you are required to take along a witness such as neighbor together with his THai ID and tabien Baan, thereto photos in front of your dwelling. A family member is not accepted.

Well, guess that's bad luck on your side

Been today at CNX Immi for a re-entry and they indeed had different forms, two-sided. Not sure if it was just a matter of printing or changed content. I brought the online printout (one-sided with the pic on the bottom left) and it was accepted without questions asked.

Standard Chartered was an option in the past too, if you had accounts locally and abroad, but they closed the CNX office last year. Would have to go to Bangkok and do inter-regional transfer to Chiang Mai which depending on the bank may cost extra.
Can't comment on the BKK Bank office in US or UK, the one in Singapore is dysfunctional for personal money transfers.

Last place I could use it was Shell, they stopped last year. Same time AMEX refused the fee waiver. I don't shop in Central if it's not an emergency

Actually wanted to get one at the airport but as I was at Promenada today anyway for my lost TM6, I got the re-entry permit also. Arrived ~13:15, out 14:00. Better come a bit later as they open again after lunch at 13:00 and there was a small queue. Lots of young folks with tourist extensions. If you come 14:00 it probably takes 15 mins.

They have it in their computer system, the slip is just there to tell you the date and for memories of the old times. Do it per mail, write on the paper that you lost the old slip and include your phone number. If they don't reply you can still go at the due date to the airport office and inquire (desk in the waiting area). If they updated the notification date in the computer (which is high likely) they will simply print a new slip for you on the spot.
Not the slip is the requirement but the notification itself. So I don't see any problem.

Been today at Immigration Promenada here in Chiang Mai as my TM6 also got lost somewhere. Seems to happen all the time and they can't be bothered with Officer at the desk in flower shirt
told me just keep the copy, which I luckily have, that's good enough. No new card, no police report, just easy going.
-
Nobody accepts AMEX in CNX I believe. Cancelled my card last year, useless.
-
Mail came back today, that is a turnaround time of 12 days. 3B stamp is enough for normal mail on the return.
Included the slip and a blank TM47 form, no other notice.
On the backside a list of names of policemen responsible for the area

Don't think it matters, simple lead acid without fancy gel will do. You don't turn your car upside down or mount the battery on it's side like in an UPS.
Batteries last 2...3 years in this climate here. Temperatures above 30C are poison for batteries, so they will all die sooner or later. Take the cheap option, it wont make any difference.

Thanks for the info @Bob. This looks like a great option if need arises, also easy (and fast) to access for us "Southerners". It belongs to CMU, so that should explain the affordable price level.
Let's hope it will not get run over by the not-so-in-need and consequently suffers the same demise as the health insurance for foreigners 2 years ago.

No, I mean the letter you have to get from the bank for immigration, stating you have the amount of money on the account the day before you apply for the extension and includes the time for how long you have the bank account. I've had it happen in BKK that a particular SCB branch had no idea what I needed from them, so had to show them an example of the text needed.
Immigration may also require a bank certified statement of transactions/balances for the last 3 months. Copy of bankbook was not enough last year as there were some accumulated transactions when you don't update the book for a while (I think they put all together in one printed line after 3 months).

They just added a funny tourist transport to Ban Tawai and that to the new "outlet" at Kad Farang.
Details, please.
thanks, ~o:37;
The Baan Tawai Minivan is called BTTS, you see them regularly on Hang Dong Road. Don't really know from exactly where to where. Some info on the bottom of this site: http://www.ban-tawai.com/news.php
For the Kad Farang shuttle I don't know, probably from some hotels with potential victims for the outlet center
...

You can go to any SCB branch. But it's better to bring a template (scanned copy on phone), that they know what you want.
-
If you give them a copy, draw 2 Parallel lines diagonally across the document copy and write something like "Only for purposes of Thai Immigration" (or whatever is appropriate) in between the lines.
That is quite standard in Thailand when you need to give copies of important documents to all and sundry.
Exactly, the locals do this all the time for all kind of copies.
Nobody will be able to take over your land based on a chanod copy. But TiT, everything is possible

Did not do much to the air quality. Doi Suthep hidden again today. They really want to get rid of the Chinese tourists

I'm just back from Central Airport and I tried to figure out the terms and conditions for the vCare Savings accident insurance. Pretty disappointing and incompetent. I have to put my recommendation for UOB on hold unless I eventually get some useful information.
They do not know anything about it. The only thing certain is that a beneficiary will get paid in case of death. That they only know, because one has to name this beneficiary. That's however not what an accident insurance should cover.
I pointed the lady to their own website and she was obviously surprised what was written there, new for her. They do not have any T&Cs but instead of saying so, she tried to sell me another vCare debit card. <deleted>?! After talking to the boss they could at least figure out that the insurance provider is Thaivivat. I will try to get better information through the UOB hotline.
Wife says there are many cases launched withe the customer protection agency where banks sell insurances but do not honor them. So the only recommendation for now is stay away from banks and get a real insurance, if you need one.

No, I don't have it. Probably somewhere hidden in Thai. Will ask next time I'm there.
