  1. I have never been mugged...attempted, but never success.

I have never been drugged...by anyone else, unknowingly.

Not fat enough to be rolled.

Never fell in love with a bg.

Never participated in or been to a village wedding and never will.

As for conforming to the general pop and drinking what everyone else is drinking, that is kinda boring and sheep like.

I have eaten in an empty restaurant and then it filled up not so long after.

Eaten in many restaurants with views and had a wonderful feed.

  2. We can hopefully extend our visas and work permits at 7 eleven soon----coffee1.gif

Who knows it just may happen. 7/11 appears to be developing into your one stop shop. You can even report crimes there.

7-Eleven Joins in Fighting Crimes on Foreign Tourists

The Royal Thai Police have joined hands with 7-Eleven to roll out a program in which tourists can report emergency incidents to Police via participating 7-Eleven branches in popular tourist areas.

Can you get fries with that ?

  3. I find that most posters respond out of sheer boredom. Especially the one liners that really do very little but add to their post count and increase the number of responses in any given post. If I was "Stuck" behind a computer as my base job I would go nuts and the last thing I would want to do is spend more time looking at my computer.

To the OP Philw, Yes some will post 30 times a day but go view those 30 posts. Most are written like they are sitting with a friend chatting a way. A lot are adversarial and typically not much substance and more over it shows very little self control on when they should or should not post.I always wondered how many people post when they are drunk or high.

I personally will read a thread that has peaked my interest and respond if I feel it appropriate. There are no winners for most thread responses but it does tend to say a lot about that person and how they spend their time and lives.

    uhuh.

  4. You might as well stop reading Thaivisa, then.

Ah no ... not exactly, just yours.

Actually I thought that this question would be about animals.

Speaking of which, I just watched the movie 'Marley and Me' ... fun movie and the dog was great.

    .

Fun? FUN? - It was heartbreaking!

Admittedly though, as I love dogs - I always end up in tears when the dog dies.sad.png

    The dog dies??

Scratch that off the viewing list now I know what happens.

No, it fell through the ice and its heart rate slowed, but they gave it mouth to mouth and it survived.

Now you can watch it as you expect something else, it will be a nice surprise.

or you could just go read stickman articles.

    .

Book is ok, movie is complete dross.

    Hachiko is much better.

    Agree for Marley

Haven't seen Hachiko , but for a movie about a dog story, my favorite is Quill.

What I personally hate is people highjacking a thread to start a personal conversation totally unrelated to the OP subject.

    So rude !

And a sigh of accomplishment is released...

  6. If that excuse for a man had come to my father/brother/sons funeral ,I would not be able to refrain myself from ripping his head off!

Agree, he would not leave looking so neat and tidy.

Family obviously expecting a big payout

Which is quite a shame really as they will now be expecting to be on easy street for the rest of their life...bet they cannot believe their luck.

After all, a guy I know got killed on a motorbike on sukhumvit by a garbage truck, they could have been so unlucky.

  7. (sorry OP and Mod if still off-topic)

I asked the land officer to explain why I could sell the land but not the house. She explained that the Thai government views the house as something that is reserved for Thai citizens only (as it is considered a Thai asset). I would have thought the opposite, i.e., that the land should be more important than what's on it. (Don't say TIT, please!)

Perhaps, as TwoDogz suggests, the issue is tied in with the house registration and other legal links to the house proper.

In my experience after 35 years here, there is ALWAYS a rational explanation for Thai laws. They are not arbitrary.

I would say talk to another land officer if you can, because that sounds simply not true.

The foreigner, any foreigner, can own the house on the land, many examples of this all over the place, but never the land under it. Unless under your circumstances.

I remember reading that a similar circumstance where the wife died and the foreigner was granted the land title, but not sure if he was only given the title for 12 months and had to sell within that time, which is what I have heard many times to be the case.

I seem to recall where a foreigner was allowed to stay as it was willed to him and as the administrator of her will, he could stay and be on the title indefinitely, it may have also had something to do with the family home and children, but the kids were not involved on the title, thats a different situation.

I would like to know if you were told or are allowed to stay indefinitely as the now titled owner of the land, or only the 12 months.

  8. Speaking of poo hitting the fan...

I read that article and while not something I would choose to read and while not well written at all, it was not as xxx over the top as complained about.....read much worse.

Maybe I have a higher threshold of tolerance for that kinda stuff.

But the accusation of something forced was not there, thats for sure.
