  1. Not new condo, but many new & modern studios & condos in that large Estate in middle of town. Some with own Internet & all with access to the fast shared WiFi system of diana-oasis with Meow at Diana-Estate. My friends love the place. MS>

I bought a mattress online from Hugs Thailand. They are based in Phuket but do a free delivery. In 10 years or so time I will look to them for my next one.

Thanks Roger. I looked at Hugs. So u seem happy with them....May I ask which model u picked and if u feel they are suitable for the average overweight tourist and bedsports? My experience is people prefer a medium soft/hard one. Any extra info much appreciated. MS>

  3. Was there not long ago and felt safer and more welcome than in BKK. Everybody very friendly and helpful. Good town for a few days of shopping and exploring. You will likely only see central  KL anyway. Enjoy. MS>

  4. Anybody with experience and recommendation for durable and comfortable medium-firm mattress for rental condo. Price range 15-18K /.  I am not unhappy with Sealy & Dunlopillo, but open to switch to other brand. Thanks for any expert-input.  MS>

Moonseeker you talk about "remodels" which is normally a fair amount of work. Do you know if they do smaller, one off jobs eg. house painting, brick wall height extensions, retiling etc or would these be too small to be considered?

    Hi there

Talked to them today ob my job.

They usually concentrate on max. 2 main-projects , but fit in smaller jobs as possible & at times their team for specific tasks is available. So, it is a yes. Just might have to wait a bit for quotations and execution.

Very nice people to deal with and 2 weeks into my most recent bigger job, very pleased with all they do. No shortcuts. Absolutely reliable and organized team. Owners on job daily. Job-site clean and tidy. No extended food breaks etc. , quite the opposite.

I will send you details by mail, so you can talk to them directly. Pl. don't take them from my job :-) :-)

Good luck and nice weekend!   MS>

  6. I have asked them about areas they work in. Obviously allover the Darkside and don't mind further into suburbs, if the job justifies it. They are busy, but I can tell you, it is well worth waiting a few weeks to get them doing your remodel.

I am 2 weeks in now and I would say they work twice the speed I am used to, have shown every day on time, leave the workplace clean and organized, staff is nice and respectful and have fixed and improved a bunch of details I was not even aware of. My experience with many, many remodels the last 20 years: rather hire the best, pay a little more and have it done right the first time. So many friends, who thought they got a better deal, very much regretted having gone for the "cheaper" offer. These guys are somewhat a family operation with the heads being a very likable Brit & his hands-on wife and some of her family as supervisors and organizers.

And yes, they have some finished projects they can show.  Have a nice day.  MS>

  7. They work in greater Pattaya area mainly. Would need discuss limits with them.Prices seem very fair to me for resolving and taking care of any issues and deliver quality on time or even quicker. Very nice staff, full owners' involvement and personal service. Very happy with them. MS>

So sorry Joe & Thank you very much. My contractor found one a few hours after I posted, only just got home.

Thank you kindly and apologies.  MS>

PS:  Request could be closed :-)

  9. Good day;

I am aware of general difference of Fixed/Dynamic.

Still, can anybody enlighten me if I do better with a Fixed 300/150    vs. a Dynamic 300/150 Account with 3-BB. I am talking speed-wise/ bandwidth/reliability? Is setup in load-balance or router

very different/difficult?  Thank you very much for any feedback. It will help me much.  MS>

  10. Good afternoon:

Looking to expand & diversify business for my wife, who is in the tourist-restaurant-hotel sector. Successful and busy, very hard worker.

We think about adding some small franchises.  Small 1 or 2 staff "show", which could then multiplied and added in further

locations. We live in touristy area, so could cater to locals and farangs.

Any ideas? Would also go for something bigger, if makes sense. Just want her to have a third leg and expand slowly.  Thanks for any feedback.   MS>

  11. Thank you. I go shopping there for 20 years, commercially. I am polite and friendly. I like the staff and the staff like me. I can assure you there are a couple of rude, arrogant and aggressive a.h. in this "ridiculous parking-crew". The guy mentioned in this post  is one of them. He would be off my staff in any business the second day. Otherwise, great shop, great staff inside, known them for a very long-time and am very happy. Still does not justify rude behavior in parking, but security staff allover Pattaya are often very problematic. Have a great weekend.  MS>    :wai:

PS: I should have said, who has a bad experience with an individual parking-screamer, -grabber, -whistler, should go back inside and tell the manager. They will get rid of him most likely, judging by past bad-apple-experiences.

  12. It seem to be clear now that at least Pattaya and other districts starts enforcing this tax from all owners of any real property. Few seem to have paid that tax in the past. Fewer even seem to

know or are informed about this tax.

Question:  If I buy a condo next week, whose owner of 20 years has not paid that tax, will I be responsible from the date of purchase or retroactive for the 10 years, I am aware

of is being charged to owners of condos, houses etc. Primary (1) residence owner occupied exempted if NOT in company name. Thanks for any informed feedback. :wai:  MS>

    Sorry moonseeker but why 12 x 15,000?

That total figure is hugely different to what Rimmer quoted for what you would have thought would have cost more.

If that is going to be a norm then company ownership just got very, very expensive in the short term..........

     Good morning

Numbers based on case told to me last night by owner of shop-house in Central Pattaya, running  a restaurant and some rooms for rent.

    12 months x 15'000 (rent value assessed?) x 12.5% (tax) x 10 (years, back-taxed since construction?)

I mark with question-marks, as I have not seen written official details, still hoping somebody will be able to post details of how this tax is assessed, what values are for different type of properties: Studios, Condos, Houses, Villas etc. etc., as I think this might be a subject worthy of TV and interesting for many. I am not affected as I live in my foreign registered  condo.

Yes, this would probably be the end of company ownership in general, as often predicted.Regards.  MS>

  14. Here a limited update:  All companies owning condos, houses, regardless if used by owner or rented to be hit with a12.5% tax, assessed by tax-office? All privately owned condos, houses, less the one occupied by owner, to be taxed at same rate. Just got this from a Swedish fellow who owns a shophouse in company name and supposedly has to pay 10 years back just above 225 K.which adds up at what he told me 12x15'000x12.5%x10 yrs.

No clue how they asses back-taxes to different owners or who collects this, enforces this etc.etc. By now this should be allover the forums????  Hope for better informed people to post soon.  MS>

This is second hand info, no clue if it is accurate. Still surprised the papers are not full of any of this!
