Kamala Harris Poised to Succeed Where Hilary Clinton Failed?
JCauto replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Kamala Harris' work as a VP is, as with pretty much all VPs, behind the scenes and in support of the President who is the leader and takes all the credit and blame for things. There's a reason you don't hear about them much. But if you're lacking information about the role she's played, it's described in this article. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/07/26/kamala-harris-vice-president-accomplishments/74534954007/ Out of curiousity, which VP would you say particularly distinguished themselves during their tenure? Mike Pence was similarly behind the scenes, but one must doff the cap for his perspicacity in not getting into that limo sent by Don Donald and having the moral and legal principles to not support the coup d'etat that Trump tried to set in motion. As to Trump's being a wreck: 1. Passed one of the most regressive tax cuts in history leading to budget deficits of over $1 Trillion dollars and for minimum effect and tanked the economy during COVID-19 due to mismanagement. 2. Botched the COVID-19 response with his irresponsible and utterly moronic communications where he continuously undermined his experts and caused the deaths of as many Americans as perished because of the Vietnam War. 3. Disastrous in foreign policy undercutting NATO and other alliances and boosting dictators and enemies of the USA like Putin and Kim. That's just some of the damage, there's lots more including impeachment, treason, stoking racial division and overseeing the government takeover of women's bodily autonomy through appointment of radical Supreme Court Justices. -
JD Vance’s Marine Service: Respected by Friends, Criticized by Opponents
JCauto replied to Social Media's topic in World News
There's lots to criticize about him, but his military service is not one of those things. I don't think I've seen anyone criticizing him for joining the military. -
This may shock you, but not everyone in the world is a Christian, and not all art in the world was dedicated to the worship of Jesus or the bible stories. The painting that was being referred to is described in the link I provided you as being from "The Feast of the Gods" a depiction of the ancient Greek Gods enjoying a bacchanal from the work of a Dutch painter Jan van Bijlert in the 17th Century. We know this because the guy who directed the scene told you so in that article, and the museum where the painting is hanging confirmed it. That you wish to feel persecuted so you can be angry is understood, it's the thing that sustains your Christian hate. I see that most of your lot have moved onto the next outrage to stoke your fire, a woman who has a masculine appearance but who is most certainly a female, who is a successful boxer. Go get 'em! Say, who made that person, was it Satan? I thought God made all things, so why are you so upset about him making that poor boxer look a bit mannish?

Yeah, when has a debate ever changed anything in a presidential race? Do you guys read what you write?
-
So you're a scientist with a background in a relevant field? Highly unlikely given your inability to write a proper sentence in English. But I guess that's just a "presupposed supposition" whatever that is. Do you practice speaking gobbledegook at home by watching Trump's speeches about electric boats?

Sifting through the blatant racism to observe what your point might have been...why then is Donald shifting the goalposts and referring to a "conflict of interest" that existed when he had already agreed to debate Biden on ABC? That's fear right there. And when you look at the roots of racism, fear is one of the major factors. Why is it you fear others who don't look like you Johno57? What did they do to hurt you? Is it that you fear losing the edge that being White gave you? Why not just appreciate how you got lucky so were able to get by despite your mediocrity?

Just another in the long series of bluster and lies. How anyone would be duped into supporting this dope is beyond my comprehension.

Pattaya rebranding as family-friendly destination to boost tourism
JCauto replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I hope you weren't under the impression that the Elite were too hi-so to participate in these activities. Quite the contrary. They're owner-operators as well as customers. -
Yes, for the Vatican to get involved, must be serious! Not like the thousands of Priests who have abused children sexually or the murder of hundreds of indigenous kids in their schools. Trivial stuff. But THIS! Mocking the painting of a guy who was Christian even though it was actually based on a Dutch painting of the "Feast of the Gods", a scene depicting Ancient Greece and their Gods! Gather the torches and pitchforks! https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jul/29/olympic-last-supper-scene-based-painting-greek-gods-art-experts So, now that you understand that you were simply being ignorant and the Vatican were simply trying to stir up faux outrage against their Church, are you going to demand that they remove this nonsensical statement? Hardly fitting of one of the supposed great religions to fall for this and publicly embarrass themselves by responding. They must be feeling particularly vulnerable given how oppressed the Christian majority who hold practically all the major levers of power in the wealthiest countries are. Appearing to possibly mock our fan fiction! O Lord, strike them dead for their horrible sins! Never mind about South Sudan though, we cool.

Nostalgia for Prayut Grows as "We Miss Loong Tu" Goes Viral
JCauto replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
False equivalency. Prayuth was never selected by the people in a fair election because he chose the coup route to power and then refused adamantly to give up power when all his credibility was long gone. He oversaw the fake "surrender" of Thaksin and ensured that he would never spend a day behind actual bars but instead could hold court in luxury in an isolated hospital. He brokered the deal and arranged for the Old Guard to be there to take over the "elections" while ensuring that yet another young democratic party would be disenfranchised for the second time in a row. Thailand "misses" him just like it "misses" COVID-19. Both are plagues upon the land that brought a long time of suffering and have left traces of contagion that remain to be cleaned up. -
You stated there were no such thing as Brown Shirts on the streets in the USA and I immediately provided you a valid published reference showing you there were from earlier this year. There's others too, including the "fine people" who marched in Charlottesville chanting "Jews will not replace us!" in 2017. These are direct rebuttals to your clear statements that prove them wrong. I'll have that cigar. You're a particularly lousy debater.

See? Even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut. It's been a while since you were right about something, and this is probably the biggest factor in the election. With Biden being so uninspiring, the Democrats were in trouble to get people out to vote and they would have been crushed. Fortunately, while Kamala only inspires scorn, racism and misogyny among her opponents, she DOES bring genuine enthusiasm to many of those Democrat and Centrist independent voters who were going to sit this one out. If turnout is high, the Democrats win. The GOP election strategies have both unintentionally highlighted Trump's age and mental decline while mobilizing the young people who are now interested in Harris. The key factors that have successfully predicted elections for many years are now firmly in the hands of the Blue team. Sorry thaibeachlovers, no Fascism for you! (Soup N*zi reference)

I tried to save you some time, but seems you had itchy keyboard fingers. So I'll just repeat what I literally wrote as the last sentence of the post you were responding to: Don't try to tell me the ol' "wait until she's the actual nominee" because he already debated with the presumptive nominee before the Democratic Convention. What's changed?
-
Took you all morning and that's what you managed to come up with? SAD! As to Mr. Time Management, does Twitting at 3am constitute "responsible time management"? An old fella like that ought to be getting himself some shuteye, then he wouldn't fall asleep in the courthouse or ramble meaninglessly when his teleprompter has a breakdown. Does golfing 261 rounds or visiting his properties 428 days during the 1,461 days of his presidency count as "managing his time responsibly"?
-
There are myriad ways to spoil one's ballot, and these spoiled ballots are recorded and recognized as "protest votes". Just like some people would rather behave like toddlers and "hold their breath until they turn blue", your choosing to not vote will be just as effective. Can you give us an example of which individual (from either party or non-affiliated) within the USA would get your vote should they run? Or haven't they got someone odious enough for you?
-
Do you have a reading comprehension issue? I noted that he has already debated with the "presumptive" nominee when it was Biden, because he was running without any opposition so it didn't matter that the debate happened before he was the official nominee. Harris is now the presumptive nominee who is running without opposition. What's changed? I also find it mystifying that you believe that DJT "waste[d] his time" by debating with Biden. Even I had that as a massive win for DJT and it would have swung the election his way for sure in my opinion. Given that he achieved a great victory with his stirring inspirational answers and clear grasp of the facts, and that his Uncle was a professor at MIT - very smart - why wouldn't he want to lay this incompetent DEI hire to rest by whupping her on national TV like he did Biden? I don't get it.

Here's a clue because you could use some. The reason you can only see her race, and are so fascinated that you are busily breaking it down into sub-categories by percentage, is that you are racist. Just like a hammer can only see nails, you can't get past her background, appearance and gender to the place where you can begin to discuss her qualifications for the presidency. You'll note that we don't attack Donald because he's a White man, we attack him based on what he says and what he does. We don't break down his Caucasian-ness by how much is German or Irish because it's not important at all, just like whether Kamala is "more" Indian or African-American is utterly irrelevant. We don't think he is a Fascist because he has a German grandfather, but because he embraces fascists and supports fascist policies. The reason she was chosen is right before you and will continue right up until she is the first to be referred to as "Madam President" - she's smart, tough and has appropriate qualifications and background to be President as a former prosecutor and successful politician. The diversity you so despise reflects the population that you wish to have vote for your candidate, so keep on flinging that poop! You're just alienating the people you need to win the election. Now can you please provide an explanation about why Donald is so afraid to debate this supposedly DEI-based incompetent hire?

Yes, that's a great line of thinking and I would encourage this! I mean, nobody would really conclude that the Right are actually completely racist. To the point of breaking down the ethnicity of the father to "prove" that she's more Indian than she is Black. Because, you know, that's what REALLY matters in your candidate. And as everyone knows, the Black folks in America are racially pure Africans who pride themselves on that. This is the problem with being fundamentally racist. You actually believe that Black people are so simple that you can win their votes by talking to them as if they were children. Love that Harris is following the Michelle Obama playbook - when they go low, we go high! The enthusiasm is building very quickly and the negativity of the GOP is already biting them in the buttocks. But they have no way of moving towards the Center because that would require compromise with the Far Right base, and so they're doing the only thing they know how to do - fling poop. Harris very deliberately and specifically decided to protect her flanks before moving her forces forward in the Center. You know, just like how selecting an abortion zealot like JD Vance has protected their Base, while they attack on one side of the battlefield and abandon the Center.

What? You mean politicians have speechwriters that write their speeches? NO WAY! This is groundbreaking news! Have you shared this breaking story with the Associated Press? Luckily DJT doesn't do that! So you're saying that when she speaks extemporaneously, she'll flop like a fish out of water? But what if she's in an electric-powered boat, for example? Remember this string of pearls of wisdom? "The problem is the boat is so heavy it can’t float. Also, it can’t go fast because of the weight. So I said, ‘Let me ask you a question, and [the guy who makes boats in South Carolina] said, ‘Nobody ever asked this question,’ and it must be because of MIT, my relationship to MIT —very smart. He goes, I say, ‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight? And you’re in the boat and you have this tremendously powerful battery and the battery is now underwater and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’" You are probably correct in that she would never be able to on the fly concoct an allegory of such brilliance and depth, illustrating her understanding of complex technical matters and the risks that one typically faces while underwater boating with electric engines in shark-infested waters, a typical situation for people on the East Coast. She also wouldn't pretend to have had this conversation that hopefully never occurred. I say hopefully because if that word salad represents the "thinking" of DJT, he's pretty far along the road to Reagan's dementia. Given that you're so confident that DJT would absolutely destroy Kamala in a one-on-one debate, can you explain why he's already backed out of the September debate he had committed to? Don't try to tell me the ol' "wait until she's the actual nominee" because he already debated with the presumptive nominee before the Democratic Convention. What's changed?

"a cackling, California communist" - sounds like some quality journalism. I wondered why there wasn't a source indicated nor a link. Something called "The Western Journal" apparently, never heard of it. It was started by a Conservative political consultant in 2008, the same guy who started the Political Action Committee (PAC) "Citizens United" that eventually were able to get that decision made by the Supreme Court that has caused much of the political trouble in America. This is the one that has led to corporations having the same 1st Amendment rights as citizens and opened the door to the unlimited money that has swamped US politics and shifted democracy to where an outsized voice is given to billionaires and corporations who can corrupt the system by throwing unlimited amounts of money at it via PACs and Super PACs. If I were the Democrats, this would be the first thing I would focus on destroying, it is unlimited money in politics that has fundamentally corrupted the system.

Trump Campaign Accuses Kamala Harris of Campaign Finance Violations
JCauto replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think you're not taking into account how most people are finally tired of Trump and all his Narcissism and drama. Florida is actually going to be back in play, and there's even a longshot of Texas being there too. They made a big overreach on doubling down on abortion and JD Vance emphasizes that choice every time he appears next to DJT. Trump wouldn't dare get on the stage with Kamala because he knows he'd be beaten like a red-headed stepchild so he's just going to sling mud and dodge. I think the American people are finally tired of it and shifting to a positive candidate is a great move. -
Stop pretending that it wasn't Trump who appointed the lyin' judges who perjured themselves in front of the Senate by stating during their confirmation hearings that Roe vs. Wade was settled law. By those judges striking it down, everything that followed is the responsibility of Trump. And pretending it's all about "States' rights" is the same lie and BS excuse that the Right pretends to use when they talk about how the Civil War wasn't about slavery.
