  1. There kid also committed his crime against what appears to be a rather abusive and potentially dangerous father.

Perhaps if they'd throw the Nazi father in prison early on, or restricted access to his wife and son, things would've turned out better for his son.

Again, let us wait and see what kind of prison set up he goes to. I won't be surprised if it is a minimum security type place where psychologists and educators have group theraphy sessions, and he gets to paint pictures and watch cartoons. I bet he is out in 2 years...

Why is this harsh? It seems more helpful than putting him right back on the street like nothing happened. Cannot this be a positive prison sentence. I think it is the word "Prison" that scare everyone. Not all "Prisons" are alike. The conviction is going to hurt him more in

the long run, not the "Prison".

  2. So the boy gets 7 years for killing a child abuseing neo-nazi, the justice system is insane. The boy should be a neighborhood hero instead. He's going to be one really PO person when he gets out of the slammer, and may at 1st, head to the nearest neo-nazi club house and toss a bomb inside.

So kids, in your opinion, have the right to dole out Executions on family members.....and get badges for their effort? Makes me wonder why we ever even attempted to utilize courts, and Police. If I get you right, the kids know better that the rest of us. Is this not what Pol Pot did?

  3. Canadians do not have balls, they have hockey pucks.

Anyways..this topic always shows a good amount of ignorance... Check the DNA of any Canadian and you will probably end up with Brit Balls or Welsh Balls...with a few French Balls thrown in. As for Americans....you got to add in the African DNA, which constitutes about 99 percent of the total population ball mass of the world. lol.

  4. A slap on a hand is what some people think can change an errant child into a caring and productive human being. Sometimes you just need to shock them back into reality. This kid was on the path leading to a lifetime of heinous activities. Why not scare the snot out of him with a prison sentence? He will not be put in with adults...that is for sure. If you think that he will be in the General Community of Adult Prisoners, then you need some more insight. Stiff punishment now might be a positive thing. If he really wants out, he will have to prove his worth. Education will be provided, I am sure. Perhaps leniency on the full sentence, a possible pardon.....

  5. In the age of " smart-phones" people seem to get dumber!!

No they were always like that, but now there are records of it.

A 10 years ago I had a long funny talk with a guy who was almost 100 year and he told me all the ugly stories from the village at that time.....kids that drank with 13, smoked, had a competition who can eat more salt, etc etc and the older one believed that before everyone was smarter......

It is not true...we are not getting better or worse of with the generations...

There were only 3 important breakthroughs in history,

The Wheel, Fire, and Condoms (for those who should not have children)

    ok..maybe beer.

  6. Maybe u could try going to a school. They do visa for student 1 year. Just attend the class as u like. No attendance % required.

seems I read they are shutting down many of those avenues.

The worst that can happen to the OP is that you may have to venture outside the country to get a double entry visa twice a year(laos)...and perhaps break that up with a few months out of the country, just to avoid excessive back to back visas. For me, it works out fantastic, as I spend a few weeks in the Philippines twice a year anyways. Cost a bit more, but as I said, I enjoy the trips, and would leave Thailand often anyways. Best part of having a Philippine Immigration card is that I only paid 50 dollars and it was good for years. However, on that end, there is a paper drill and Exit Clearances which add up. I ripped my Philippine Immigration card up and entered as a tourist last time. Now I pay only airport departure fees...lol.

  7. Sorry for the lack of knowlege on my part, concerning your problem. The only thing I was told by my fellow Americans, is that I would only need to get a Statement of Income from the US Embassy stating that I make (80,000) per month. This would be for a retirement visa. I choose not to have a Bank Account here. Yes, I do have supporting evidence (retired military). However, I was told I only need the Statement of Income. I am not sure this is the same for all countries. Am I right...or am I wrong?

  8. Is this the same "boom boom" coffee they sell at the malls? Friends of my wife were trying to get her to buy cases of it. It is like a scam. She would buy the stock off of one person, and then need to find other agents to pawn it off on. I don't know about you, but I laughed my head off. I drink coffee in the morning and do the deed at night. Too much lag time.

  9. Mans best friend, and security. If someone is scoping for houses to break into, and see two large 30kg dogs barking like crazy, they'll probably just move onto the next house.

    Man's best friend indeed..

This must be why dogs are so stupid !!

The neighbor left a dog on our front porch long before we signed a lease. At first, i thought, lets get rid of it. The next day he was barking, I opened the door and a big ass snake was climbing the front steps to the house. Next it was a stray cow, then a horse. Then some people picking the leaves of our trees. It was a different bark for each occassion. I am quite amazed of Julie, and I know whats out there at night. Keeping her well fed.

  10. Thai passports cannot be renewed by mail. Applications have to made in person because they take a digital photo and it takes up to 2 months to get them if done outside the country.

Excellent reason to plan ahead. Especially if your passport expires in less than 6 months/or is already expired. Guess it is a trip to the Consulate. But in my country, for an American, we can mail it to the Thai Consulate...at least for a visa. I do not know why Thai's do not have that right....but so be it!

  11. Well at least the mention of safety belts is on the increase, in the article at least a passenger comments on it, which he will probably also do in the Thai language news,

thereby increasing awareness positively, even if only a little bit.

These big VIP buses usually drive very fast.

Before the apologist come in force, we know accidents happen everywhere, but it is clearly very common here.

    ..crystal

is it company policy to squeeze as many trips out of one bus and driver per shift. that is crystal as well.

  12. of course its possible.

Not if you are 52 and she is 30.

(Really, really not possible if you are fat, bald and an alcoholic)

Sadly, it seems like Mr. FiftyTwo has some learning to do.

I know from my own experience that it is entirely possible and with an even greater age gap!

    but rare....

  13. Foolish men love quickly here. The women seem much wiser. My advice, if large amounts of money are required before a woman will consider you, then you are bound for failure. It seems that the best situation is finding a lady who can communicate well, is not in financial distress, is not ashamed to be seen with a foreign man, and is willing to try out a live-in relationship before marriage. I would rather have a lady who is similar to my age and experience, and who shares things in common. If your lady does not communicate (i.e. spends all her time on the internet/cellphone instead of talking with you, then run fast. I have had other relationships that failed, due to the absence of the aforementioned characteristics.

Yes, you can find somebody here who will ..love you. I have. We are very good friends, as well....which made all the difference.

Many may disagree...but if you are looking for opinions...this is mine.

  14. You need to politic this one. They seem to be of a lower class, and on Government Pay. Go to municipal hall for that area with any reputable Thai Businessman/or Land owner. Have them work it out Thai style.....but I would invite the Public Works Chief out for a damn good night....you know..whisky and eats. I do not think they will "resettle" the workers, but they might tone down a bit. We have a similar problem, but not as harsh. People using vacant land for their cows to graze (in the city). I took pictures and my wife called the Municipal Hall. Two of the cutest gals you ever saw came driving up the street in a municipal vehicle... High heels and pink skirts. 10 meters from my kitchen was a pile of cowpies 2 foot deep by 30 foot square. They could not even breathe! They put on masks and those high heels were just clacking away as they ran back to the car. Two days latter, the owner of the cows were shoveling the stuff in bags, which were promptly removed. I paid not a dime. But this is Udon.

  15. Keep in mind...this is not our country and not our customs/religion. Thailand does not need to pander to your vacation schedule. Obviously, a great man died, in their eyes, and they need to do something extraordinary to mark his passing. It is admirable but also a bit "quaint". The world needs more "traditions" and cultural flare. I wish the selfish posters here would just ..<deleted>..if you know what an acronym is.

Laser, sonar, and scuba are acronyms, i.e., words made from the intial letters/parts of other words in a phrase.

    <deleted> is not an acronym.

fine... thanks for the education. I will be looking hard for your errors in grammar in the future as well.....

does not change the context in the least, and you are pretty much off topic.tongue.png

  16. Same requirements for Filipino or Filipina..(in your case). Not hard at all, but just do the requirements. Look at the Immigration Web site in Manila (yes they do but information online for that purpose). Requirements do change periodically, and sometimes it is possible to get pulled aside just before leaving, for additional requirements ($). How do I know.... 18 years in the Philippines, married a Filipina....and have two children there...and one daughter (36yrs old) I brought to the states. There is a class she must attend for a week or so...cannot give you the details, just google it. Affidavits of Support are good, as are proof of where she will be staying. Hey..its the Philippines! They just don't get to leave because they have a passport...too many hands in the pot. Hey, they make good wives...so go ahead and marry her, but she sure is going to be lonely here. I have a friend or brought his filipina girl here (they are married)...the daughter is Filipina but only speaks Thai and English... The mom cannot communicate with anyone..for lack of the Thai language... Her english is ok. She needs to take her daughter to the market and to pay the bills so she can translate. Also, she cannot "Guarantee" stuff like a Thai wife can.... for credit, drivers licenses, even phone company monthly services.
