1. Zionist racist lies, nothing else. Israel is lying on so many issues since it was created and continues to do so. Right now is a good time to put up this terrorist plot as Israel lost the last bit of credit they had in this world in continuing their genocide of Palestinians, so they obviously have to play the tune that the Palestinians are the bad guys. Pathetic!

"Speaking about the high-profile arrests for the first time, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said the case would undergo normal processes in the justice system. He said the issue involved certain officers, but not the entire police force. He added that legal action taken against the high-profile officers was part of the much-awaited reform of the Royal Thai Police."

i hope there is more to come

I agree completely, remember the story about the people paying 300,000 baht for help to pass the RTP entry exam. I wonder why someone would want to pay 300,000 for a job that requires them to pay for their own uniforms, guns and motorbikes, and pays 8,000 per month? Short story, a retired Australian police friend of mine was asked to speak to the son of his Thai lady friend. She asked him to talk the lad out of quitting university to join the RTP. When he asked the young man why he was considering such a move, he replied, "I'm tired of being poor".

Agree, the scheme whereby candidates pay a 300,000Baht fee to get in must have been run by someone (a gang) within the RTP, simple logic, and not easy to totally hide within the force.

Pongpat and his mafia would have known about it for sure, question is what was their cut and who else got a cut?

No doubt there is a lot more to be revealed.

Don't be naive man. Every single policeman up to a certain level is getting a piece of cake of these 300 K. For higher positioins buying the people higher in the hierarchy are getting their share. Is common law in the RTP.

  3. While this is fantastic to see and long overdue, we must remember to not stereotype all police officers

I know two officers personally who would give their left arm to the community if they needed it and would never take a single satang they didn't earn

I hope that news articles like this will lead to less Thai bashing here on thaivisa . There's many good people in Thailand and that they do something to clean up the corruption that's been going on for years is a good sign for the future.

That's right, I agree many good people but certainly not one single good police officer. No way. Even a few rare ones were 'good' before they started their police career they just can't survive and have to play the game otherwise it will be 'game-over' for them.

  4. Some interesting responses. It's odd that some can't accept that anyone might simply not be interested in the local women.

Not interested in the local women? That's strange indeed, so seems you are not gay, so are you 89 or what? Wherever I go I am always interested in the local women. Is a natural thing that men are interested in women. Now of course it depends how you define 'interested'....

  5. Are you gay?

I'm not sure my wife would like that, either.

I get the same question/accusation all the time here. I lived in Japan for about 15 years, and western men there would make the same accusations to me because I wasn't really interested in Japanese women. If you're into the Asian thing, then go for it. But it's weird to believe that there is just something so appealing about Japanese women and Thai women that only a homosexual wouldn't be interested.

All that said, I've dated Thai women, it's not like I'm against it. But as a heterosexual guy, Thai women don't have any special appeal for me.

It's odd, isn't it? It does seem that some just struggle with the concept that people can hold different opinions and preferences to them. Plus this is then exacerbated by a certain group mentality when they get together on a forum like this. As well as accusing people of being gay, they also like to make out that anyone with a different opinion must be lying and a secret user of Thai prostitutes. Weird.

Oh you guys, just loosen up a bit really..... no wonder you don't like Asian women, you guys are too tightened up and therefore probably don't enjoy the jokes Asian people enjoy...

  6. I certainly wouldn't go and live for long time in any place of this world just for women (though Afghanistan might be tempting....555555...). No seriously, if you do this you will not be happy because you need to like the place. And you would have difficulties finding a woman (unless of course a prostitute as most farang take in) because the woman wants somebody who likes the place unless she wants to go overseas which again points to an 'economic driven marriage'.

  7. Happy about this including the suicide of one of these <deleted>! On the other side EVERY senior police officer has as much money as this guy unless he spend it on his various mia noi's or actually was clever and put it on an offshore account. So there is a long road in front of us and it will soon be shown if the Army is sincere or has just punished some guys who were not 'cooperative' enough...

  8. Unfortunately, without annual income tax statements and a valid work permit you are precluded.

What about if you have a monthly income of let's say 50 K which is interest from fixed term accounts in Thailand? And of course go to declare it at the Tax office, so pay taxes on that income. Would that be fine? I know still the work permit but some people have work permits but earn less than 40 K per month.

  9. Sounds the Thai citizenship application process has much improved. Everything pretty logic just one point I do not understand: the WP issue. So what about early retirees? They cannot get thai citizenship though they might have lived in Thailand for many many years?

I always wanted to get Thai citizenship but in the old days it seemed to be too difficult without the proper connection. Used to work in development organizations for many years in Thailand. Speak, read and write Thai very well. Married, children, enough savings. Know how to behave with Thai people, excellent education. Somehow certainly a good candidate. But: early retired.

So for a guy like me it is a no-no?

  10. The majority of Palestinians don't want Israel to exist with any borders and they are taught from an early age to hate Jews in a racist way. Dudes, peace is not coming anytime soon.

First as we all know Jew is not a race so we cannot be racist in case we have anything against Jews.

Second the problem are not the Jews but Israel and the majority of its citizen who are supportive of the atrocities committed against Palestinians and the plight of Palestinians.

Third that Palestinians are taught to hate Jews is total bs and unfortunately likely to be picked up as argument from zionists. Every culture/civilization and their religious leaders are teaching their people that compassion, understanding and forgiving is the way. In the same way I believe that the Israeli kid saying that he is happy because he visiualized a dead Palestinian is not representative of the majority of Israel-jewish kids.
