  1. I tried to apply online on their web-site, tried to contact the company by E-mail and phone, been promised all the time someone will contact me – however never heard anything back, E-mail or phone, so unfortunately I gave up. If it is that difficult to buy something and give them my money, what will it be like if I have an accident and need their help…?

May we suggest the next time you are looking for (any) insurance you contact us direct ? We can respond quickly and we speak English

  2. My wife and I retired here in November, we were going to choose Bupa, but they can cancel your policy at any time, and they don't cover much, after talking to the Thai's we choose Thai Life Insurance which is medical also, much cheaper than Bupa, and they can't cancel you, and they will insure you up to 90 years old. Check it out.

    we choose Thai Life Insurance

Can you read and write Thai?

Sounds to me as if you are talking about, Thai Prakan Chewit, they dont sell medical insurance, they sell some sort of crap cassaurance, an investment vehicle, eg pay into this for the next 20 years and we will give you back peanuts.

Insure you up to age 90?

I watch Thai tv everyday and the cut off appears to be 75 years.

Please give the cost for two people aged 89 years old for first class in patient insurance.

Believe Patrick Mills referred to Thai Life Insurance = Muang Thai Life Insurance:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muang_Thai_Life_Assurance

The company website is (unfortunately) in Thai language only:

    http://www.muangthai.co.th/ecampaign/

Thai Life has nothing to do with Muang Life which is a smaller companay and very 'Thai'.

Thai Life is one of the largest and most respected of the LIfe companies in Thailand and does offer English : Web site HERE

What can be confusing is Thai Life has 2 sister companies, one of them being Thai Health which as the name suggests is a Health insurance provider and one we have many happy customers insured with.

  3. You choice is really determined by what type of hospital you would wish to use i.e. the local Government hospital which your wife uses or the Private/International hospitals.

If as a family you are happy with the service and facilities of your local Government hospital then fine but should not be happy then the alternative is the expensive Private/International hospitals where medical insurance is recommended because of the steep fees.

As Brokers we can offer any level of cover from any insurance company and we are happy to recommend the most suitable for your circumstances May I suggest you start off by going HERE

  4. Generally the age is 70 when it is starting to get difficult to place medical insurance however the younger one applies the better as a lower risk.

There are many types of medical insurance and if one is based in S.E.A. then a policy designed for this area is the most suitable as a lower cost than International policies but still offering the same coverage.

For help and quotes on the different types please go HERE

  5. Not knowing your requirements fully I would suggest a product from Allianz which is designed for S.E.A. is a good option.

As an example a full payment policy for >60 with a cover of USD1m (approx. 32,500,000 Baht) would be USD2,000 (approx.65,000 Baht).

There are other plans at a lower premium e.g. full payment again but with a USD 5000,000 benefit cover.

Note these plans from Allianz are in USD as they fully cover S.E.A. countries as well as Worldwide for emergencies.

For more information please go HERE

  6. Thank you for your kind words and the good news is we are back to normal – thank you all for your patience.

As for Chiang Mai, we have many customers there (as we do throughout Thailand) and with modern communications can arrange insurance for all sectors fast, efficiently and most importantly to suit the individual without having to visit offices and waste time.

  7. This an apology - explanation really - to all our customers who have had their emails not answered or late.

Our main server is based in our Pattaya office and the internet (3BB) has been off for the better part of 2 days - and to cap it all the electric has just been cut off.

Normal(?) service will be resumed as soon as 3BB sort themselves out !

  8. An ‘All Risks’ property policy (both house and condo) will cover not just the building but also the contents – personal items like laptops can be included.

As for premium that is obviously dependant on the sum insured and can vary for company to company BUT take care, sometimes if you find a company with a very low cost, there is a reason for that !

For the ‘building’ it is the rebuild cost and not the market value that is needed and take note anyone who rents – you still need building insurance as you are responsible for the building/condo (unless of course you have a copy of the Owners own policy on the building)

For quotes on your property please go HERE

  9. There are many misconceptions about insurance but to try an clear up a couple :

First make sure the person/company you are dealing with is in fact a Broker - if not sure ask for their Broker License and make sure it is current (Note Brokers are different from Agents)

Brokers do not charge more than the insurance company - this can be checked very easy by looking at the Policy once you receive it.

Payment - many insurance companies (notable foreign based companies) ask for premiums to be sent direct by the customer to them BUT should you be worried about do tell the broker you wish to pay the insurance company direct and the Broker can arrange.

  10. The true cost of the Government insurance for bikes with a capacity of over 150cc is indeed 646 Baht and from what you described it seems a simple (but very stupid) scam this person is pulling. Well done for standing your ground.

For anyone paying for their Annual Road Tax at Big C and needing the Government insurance, we are open Saturday mornings to issue the policies on the spot.

  11. An interesting question with different options.

Obviously the easiest is what is called ‘Key Man’ insurance which most companies have for their main (key) employees. However this pays out a lump sum which you say you do not want.

There is ‘Disability’ insurance which will pay out daily/monthly and this can continue to you are 65 - when your pension kicks in. This is a low cost option normally to medical polices e.g. for a 50 year old the premium is $347 (US) per year and that will pay $50 (US) a day after a period of time.

  12. Unfortunately we do not make the rules here and although I agree with what you say, that is not the case.

Example of passing the insurance on with the vehicle : if (say) you are a steady 45 year old driver in a safe job with a (say) full 5 years NCB, you can sell that vehicle to an example 20 year old and pass the cover and all the NCB to him - explain that !

Named drivers : again you are partly correct, they ask for your ages BUT the insurance is still with the vehicle

  13. The first thing you need to do is forget everything you learnt in the UK – the way insurance is written in Thailand is different and yes, do listen to your wife as she is correct.

The main point you have missed from the posts above is that the coverage is with the vehicle – not the driver.

    Welcome to Thailand wai2.gif

  14. Have you looked into BUPA Thailand? That is the most common policy in Thailand.

BUPA Thailand (this is not BUPA International as most know BUPA) is expensive for children. The nearest example to Allianz (although well short on the benefits of Allianz) costs 58,000 Baht (per child) up to the age of 5 and then 32,000 Baht up age 15 where as Allianz is less than 10,000 Baht up to 21

  15. 316 usd a month or a year?

until now she is insuranced with bupa international.

i know she can be treated with the 30 baht thai insurance, i live in pattaya,

the queen sirikit hospital in sattahip is pretty good, but long waiting time.

until now she always went to bangkok pattaya hospital.

an extra insurance would let me sleep better than only this 30 baht insurance....

The $316 is per year and is what Allianz offers as a 'family' for S.E.A. - note only one parent needs to be insured to get this rate

  16. This is the BKK Bank Seniors PA insurance. For those under 80 this is very poor value e.g. max. general medical expenses is only 30,000 Baht. Saying that, for the over 80's then this is the only PA available.

We have far better value plans should anyone be looking for this plus dealing with a Bank for insurance is not a very good idea as their resources are very limited.
