Israel builds laser weapon to zap threats out of sky
lemonjelly replied to onthedarkside's topic in World News
300 times the speed of light…. LOL….laser beams are made up of photons. Light cannot travel faster than light, nothing can (barring ‘communication’ between particles in quantum entanglement) -
AFTERSHAVE - What is everyone wearing ???

You say “aftershave”, are you splashing eau d’toilette/parfume on your face? If you are, stop. -
Bangkok set for official change of name to "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon"
lemonjelly replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Wouldn’t that be a “D”? -

Krung Tep would be a closer transliteration. The Thai obsession with the letter “H” is weird -
Wrong date on 90 day report chit
lemonjelly replied to lemonjelly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes, I was a bit confused as to why my 1 year extension is stamped 22nd November, but receipt is for 12th feb, it must be the old receipt from last 90 day report. Oh well, I’ll go in tomorrow, might get stung for it (how much is the fine, by the way?). That’ll teach me to not check dates on stamps. It’s my fault for being slack. -
Wrong date on 90 day report chit
lemonjelly replied to lemonjelly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I think I know why this has happened. I remember having to do my 90 day report about 10 days before my last 1 year extension was due for renewal. So, it seems that the 90 day report date is still linked to the last 90 day report date, rather than being reset when I obtained new 1 year extension. -
Wrong date on 90 day report chit
lemonjelly replied to lemonjelly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
NON-O 1 year extension (2nd year) stamped from 23 November this is the first 90 day report on that extension. I think they’ve just miscalculated the date. -
Wrong date on 90 day report chit

This is good to know, even if they stick to the 12th feb date, I can still report without being fined. Nice one, cheers -
Wrong date on 90 day report chit
lemonjelly replied to lemonjelly's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I applied for non-O on 22nd Nov, received it a month later. So I’m counting from the 22nd stamp in my PP. -
This is going to be interesting, after just checking the chit in my pp, just noticed I’m overdue on the report date as I’d mentally approximated 90 days from last visit without checking the chit earlier. They’ve given me an 80 day report date. I’ll go in day after tomorrow and see if I have to pay up or not.

Young children vaccination starts 31 January
lemonjelly replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Yes, getting my kids vaxed asap before a variant with the Omicron transmissibility that causes more severe symptoms emerges, which considering the ever mutating virus, is a possibility. -
Arrested for not wearing a mask in Phuket

Fantastic news, keep it up. -
Thank you so much for the help. I don’t have Shopee, I’ll try to find it on Lazada

have kids running around, which would mean a lot of tape. Will look into anti-slip acid, but not sure if it'd etch the surface enough
-
good idea. I wonder if the tiles need to be roughed up first and price of epoxy. I'll look into that one.
-
Ok, I’ll start the ball rolling. I had the “walk around” floor area outside my house tiled. The tiles are polished concrete I think, they don’t have that ceramic look. Unfortunately, they’re more slippery when wet than I thought they would be. Is there a not too expensive solution to this? Could I just give it a top dressing of cement powder with a bit of sand mixed perhaps. I’ve seen the acid etching solutions, but not sure how effective it’d be. Thanks in advance for any input

Mum thanks blood donor after daughter is bitten by pit viper
lemonjelly replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
You have a good point, not about trying to catch it myself though, but yes, should just call Por Tek Tung, they remove snakes for free, but obviously gave a tip last time when a juvenile cobra turned up in the garden -

lemonjelly replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Very few snakes that I’d kill on sight if I saw it in the garden but the Malayan pit viper is definitely one of them. The length of their fangs is quite terrifying. -
There are some yet unconfirmed reports that the omicron variant is less severe. This seems to be leading some people into a possible false sense of security. We just don’t know yet. What we do know is that it’s far, far more infectious. Even if it turns out that it’s less deadly, which might statistically be the case given the vaccine uptake, the extreme high transmissibility of this variant poses the problem of hospitals being overwhelmed by those that will need care. Being in such a bad way with covid that hospital admission is needed must be traumatic enough, without being queued on a gurney in the hospital car park.

Another 3 months is a long time with the speed omicron variant is spreading. It’s already responsible for 20% of infections in the uk and it was first flagged only a couple of weeks ago. I decided to get my 3rd based on this, plus taking it before stocks run out which, considering the circumstances could be a possibility.
