This is why Thailand urgently needs a decent educational system

In my kids school they do subjects in English and Thai. He brought home a book containing the History of the second world was , 30 pages half of them pictures. He is interested in it so I bought world was 2 movie box set (I'll admit that may have been for me also) Battle of Britain , Tora , Tora , Tora, Bridge too far all that stuff. He now has a far better idea of what happened in the War from John Wayne mincing around the Normandy beaches in The Longest day, than he did from his "School book"

When he's finished watching the fiction you might want to present him with a few facts

  2. Racism in thailand?

Asking the opinion of these hypocritical farangs who have no qualm making racist comments on chinese people especially people from china. So what's the deal on that?

Is it ok to stereotype chinese people?

Many farang love to play the victim but honestly farang are well protected even a black in the USA should watch himself from making racist remarks on farang but not chinese.

"on chinese people especially people from china" ... rolleyes.gif

    .

Chinese people also come from Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan rolleyes.gif

  3. Assure you that Russia is about to fall. a thousand years have passed and she did not fall but only getting stronger and stronger. Do not you think it's suspicious? as if you did not lie to your government when Russia does not not fall))) we have thousand year history and all the thousands of years we fought. War in our blood))

    Mongols are in your blood.

I think you're confusing Mongols with Slavs. Besides didn't you know the Mongol Empire is the largest contiguous land empire that's ever existed?

  4. Er, they do still have the nukes though so best to take some notice

I've often wondered how Russia would fare in a nuclear war. I couldn't envisage them lasting long [48-hours at most before they're silenced, I reckon]. Most of their warheads are probably knackered and half their missiles wouldn't make it off the launchpad anyway. Their only hope would be China on side.

Their technology is way behind that of the West.

    SU35? SU37? Sukhoi PAK FA?

What people seem to forget is that the Russians feel that they've survived WWII and Stalin so a drop in oil prices and an economy off the boil is a piece of piss as far as they're concerned...

Does this statement reflect the overall sentiment of the Russian public, the Russian leadership's stance or perhaps just an

unfounded generalization regarding how outsiders view Russia and the Russian people?

A lot of people posting on this thread seem to think that the Russian national character has been formed over the past 100 years. Russian stoicism is a result of events like the invasion of Batu Khan in the 13th century and heroes like Vladimir Monomakh. It didn't start in 1917.

  6. Not according to my friend in Bali who has T2 diabetes. This is a guy who checks his blood sugar levels every few hours. He told me noodles was okay, he didn't know why as they're mostly made from rice in Asia, he can't ell me why so I have no chance of the "why"

They could be egg noodles which have some flour but are mainly made from eggs which have no carbs worth mentioning.

Could be but he's been living in Bali for 20 plus years and he did make the comment re noodles as they're made from rice! Oh well.

I'll give them a whirl with my meter.

  8. The biggest problem with sugar free products is that they generally contain aspartame which is worse than sugar as far as all around health goes. But you're all missing the point a little bit. Sugar is the worst product for diabetes, second worst? Rice. It would be far more beneficial for Thais to cut back or cut out rice to help stop the onslaught of diabetes.

    processed carbs = sugar .......

It's the starch I believe that impacts the blood sugar levels. What I don't understand is how rice is bad but noodles are not?

It's the carbohydrates that raise BG. Noodles are just as bad as rice

  9. Next you will probably say globally warming is real, all I'm saying don't believe government's or doctor's or pharma or dentist's, tptb are manipulating us. Do your own research there is a cure for most things even cancer, but gov don't want you to have it.

You're the one that's claiming they're all out to get us. Besides as you can see from my avatar I am protected by my tinfoil hat.

Can you define specifically what you mean by a 'cure' for diabetes?
