You cannot enter Thailand without a Thailand Pass.
What is this "blue card" you refer to? Issued by what country? Is it in English? Is there a QR code?
While vaccibation QR code is not an absolute reqiirement it definitely hel0s speed the approval pricess as well as processing on arrival.
In Austria e.g. private doctors issued a vaccination card provided by Pfizer if patient didn't have yellow vax book at hand. It is not accepted for ThailandPass. However, Austria later issued a vaccination cert. with QR code. My husband had such a card.

Although I came via test&go I do not think this is a safe route. There should be 5 days min quarantine for all to cover incubation period. On day 6 get pcr test. Forget LFT. Too unreliable.

I was reading yesterday that they think Omicron may have an incubation period of about 3 days compared the 6 days of previous varients.
A research paper published Dec. 16 by Eurosurveillance describes an outbreak involving 80 people at a restaurant in Norway. Nearly every person who had omicron said they were vaccinated and had received a negative antigen-test result within two days before the party. After the event, symptoms appeared in about three days. This suggests the virus had multiplied so quickly that rapid-test results had been rendered obsolete.
Different opinion from Europe: you may show symptoms before test shows pos. and incubation up to 6 days. Quarantine entry like test&go isn't a great idea.

UK did 1,670,000 tests other day in one day - In other words an entire month of thai testing in one day
Lateral flow tests? Seems to be the trusted test in UK. ????
Surely not 1.600.000 PCR and sequencing.

What a shock! Propaganda from a Military controlled Government!
Better propaganda like this than what the west does: nothing, let everybody gett infected, masks are a nuisance etc.

Saw the airport bus arriving in Jomtien yesterday, If you doubled the number of passengers, and then doubled it again, the answer is four.
The world of observable reality is a cruel place.
Not all arrivals will go to Jomtien I guess.

How do they so easily distinguish betw. Burmese and Mocambiquan rubies?

I received an invitation for Xmas day lunch. Would love to go but I know that facemasks get dropped in farang circles. As the afternoon progresses booze lets forget that we have a pandemic. A few of the guests are anti vaccination.
I most likely will not accept the invitation. I lived in almost total seclusion for 2 yrs.

It's a tough decision. I am not in Thailand, but I do not do indoor dining quite yet. Where I live, you can drive through or eat at outside seating. If there is an option for your group to eat outdoors, such as a hotel balcony, I'd definitely feel ok.
If it's indoors and you decide to go ahead, I'd tend to limit the time indoors as much as possible. Maybe eat and then go for drinks/desert somewhere with outdoor seating. Indoors, you are not only getting everyone in your group breathing, but everyone else as well.
I wouldn't worry about Omicron specifically. Even if you could get a boost, it takes around 14 days to reach peak immunity.
I would rather get a 3rd jab, lie low for 14 days rather than not getting a booster.

Would you agree therefore, that the major concern of the UK is the possible overwhelming of hospitals given the expected/forecast 'tidal wave' of this variant and the collapse of the NHS due to the numbers requiring hospitalisation remembering that the England has, I believe, about 100,000 beds available, and that in the real world, the situation is more optimistic?
Hospitals are already struggling. Or why would they have postponed a huge no. of operations, chemotherapies for cancer patients. Beds are needed for emergencies, other health issues and not just for Covid.

The beaurocratic/military bossy mindset is indeed a wondrous thing.
Reinstating the quarantine process will of course totally shaft the reopening plan. Can they not understand - as soon as "quarantine" is mentioned, people quite simply don't book!
I rather suspect that those influential people who have invested in providing quarantine facilities may be calling the shots here? Either way, they have shafted things again!
"Pirrocks"!
Seems to be no shortage of tourists. I'm looking for a serviced apt. All the better ones are full until 2nd week in Jan. Sure some Thais do staycation but they don't fill Oriental Res. or Emporium Suites.

Austria does not only give 3rd jab to vulnerable but to everybody incl. young ppl. Austria has also started vaccinating kids from 5 yrs onwards.
While infections have soared since Oct. the lockdown is showing effect i.e. infections are going down. More ppl got vaccinated.
It would be wise if Thailand would continue mandatory PCR test after 16 Dec. ATK tests are not reliable.

I got a policy through Tune insurance. You pay a little extra and it appears to cover the hospital or asymptomatic detention fees?
But probably not hotel bills? If I got caught in that situation when I return I would try to get transferred to bumrungrad. Rooms are better than most hotels.
Then you haven't stayed at a decent hotel.

What a load of tosh. Fly into the UK, UK citizen or not, and go to your nearest hospital emergency department and you will be treated free of charge. Them's the rules.
Do you have personal experience? Or do you just recommend what you think will work?

UK plans to require 3 jabs as "fully vaccinated". When and if this will happen?
In EU booster is given 4 months after AZ and approx. 5-6 months after mRNA vaccine.

I don't know which country you come from. Going by your forum name Enzian it may be perhaps Austria? If yes, try ÖAMTC
insurance. It is accepted for Thailand Pass, very reasonably priced.

Enquire at Racquet Club. They have a Judo group for youngsters and may know of an adult group. The guy who runs Aikido at Racquet club, Tony (an American), may also be able to give you info. Tony also got a website/email. Just try it

I am paying 65Eur for RT-PCR before flying.
The test&go costs me 5000B, or another 130Eur.
For a returnee, this is an extra pain to be endured.
For a tourist, it can turn Thailand to a "maybe another time".
Besides, two RT-PCR tests within 48 hours doesn't make much sense. I think they know all this, but they are perhaps unable to organize rapid tests at the airport for many thousands/day.
My PCR test at Munich airport costs 178€ to be sure I get result before departure.

I don't recall me outwearing my welcome in any previous country!
I'm very welcome to stay in Laos, just don't do ham radio ????
I'm very welcome to stay in Myanmar, just don't do ham radio ????
I'm very welcome to stay in Thailand, but stay away from Phuket if you like your kneecaps!!
@johng, Thailand in general no longer appeals to me, especially the visa requirements etc. Ham radio is allowed (I have a Thai ham licence), but it is still somewhat restricted.
TBH, after 20 years, I'm rather 'jaded' by south-east Asia.
Yes, there are properties available for $1 in EU countries, but the conditions require you to be young, young family etc, not old and decrepid...
@BritManToo, we've talked about this before. Nowadays, I don't think availability of fast internet will be a problem almost anywhere, especially with Starlink coming online in many locations. Right now, I wouldn't want to buy a property to renovate, because I'm not yet sure if the environment will suit my lifestyle - so many things seem to have changed in the EU! Sadly, I can't test out that idea in the Pyrenees (where I used to live), because of the silly rental prices....
Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary. Many Brits moved to Hungary for cheap housing. Sunny, warm it is not.

Exactly. Can’t they be like the US or UK or EU where everyone can just practice as a doctor without a license as he likes?
Not in EU. You need a license.
