But not LOS.
No, not the entire world. The world you talk about is just letting infection run wild in the population.

get over it.
mask wearing now is a minority of people worldwide.
Idiots in Europe eg think they don't need a mask. Result are eg 143thou infections in Germany today, something 300 deaths.

Thank you all for the clarification. I did forget to add that I am Visa on Arrival now. Jetstar does in fact inform you at check-in in Australia but don't stop you from boarding. Singapore Air, Qantas and Malaysian have never mentioned it to me at check-in. Shame, because it seems I need to book return tickets and lose the flexibility of the one way ticket.
SQ at Changi requested to see an onward ticket despite my non-immO.

You hardly ever read that other nationalities get necklaces stolen. Whenever I read about it, it is an Indian tourist.

With Bangkok Bank all reports I have seen say that you need to go to your original branch to get a new/replacement debit card so might be easier to open a new account in Phuket.
Not my experience. Opened at JTC branch in Bkk, got replacement card at Central Embassy branch. May be it depends on staff.

I flew return to LHR in business with Singapore Airlines for 68K last December and they weren't as good as the good ol days. I was a PPS member in the past but wouldn't preferentially use them anymore. Seats are good on the flight but food and wine choices were limited, lounge access in Singapore was still off limits and the lounge in LHR is a busy little code share lounge.
Emirates is good if you are on a newish plane with the latest seating type. I have flown them many times in Business and first. I flew with them a lot into Africa and they are great for honouring and giving upgrades. I like their catering and wine selections.
Etihad I have had mixed luck but found that the flights into Bangkok were often older planes with tired and flogged out seating, including in business. Though I did get upgraded to first class from the mid east to Australia twice on Etihad which was a treat.
Qatar are always a treat and I like their lounge in Heathrow, not a big lounge but sophisticated I thought. A pricey product but in my opinion they are one of the best airlines for Business class.
I flew business class on Oman Air's new A350 a couple of years ago from BKK to LHR and their seating in business was superb as long as you get a window seat. Their shared lounge in LHR was lousy though. First and only time I have flown this great airline. I did promise myself to use them again if the price was right.
I last flew Thai business in late 2020 from LHR to BKK and their business class product is very poor. I used to be a gold card member and stoped flying with them because the product wasn't worth the price. I use them as a desperate direct flight choice only these days.
Recently found Doha to be a hellhole to transit. Long ways, crowds without masks running in every direction. Flown with them many times, like Suites when available. Will try Omanair again.

Qatar Airways business class Q-Suites are great.........sit down close the sliding door, gives you a better sense of 'covid free' surroundings and probably does help for that matter........
Support this. However, QR often changes hardware last min. & Suites is cancelled.

Great thread let's keep this going. I'm looking for direct flight..any comfy class ..I expect to pay more...but currently got no good input..
EVA if you go to London.
Singapore Airlines. Singapore is an easy transit.
Thai Airways. Would be careful as they still owe refunds.

Why not remove these silly luxury taxes? Then foreign tourists will come here on shopping trips and spend a fortune in the Thai malls (and hotels, restaurants etc.), instead of Thais saving all their money and spending it on hotels, restaurants and malls in Singapore?
No, they don't spend it in Singapore. Go and compare prices. The ones who can afford these goods buy them regardless.

I don't have suits/shirts/shoes made in Bangkok, but like many tried it when I came here 25 years ago. if you want a Savile Row suit you actually have to go to Savile Row, which is what I did.
Everybody thinks they are going to find some old Chinese guy in a sub soi off Sukhumvit who will make them a Savile Row standard suit at a fraction of the cost. Despite all the talk of "fine tailoring" your suit will be cut from a standard pattern despite all the talk of bespoke and individual patterns - maybe with the top few they do. When you find piece of paper in the pocket with 42L written on it you can't fool yourself otherwise.
Bangkok is good for:
15 Lime Green team jackets in different sizes.
Trying out an idea like Orange and Blue Plaid cheaply to see if you like it.
If you have to wear suits and can't buy OTR and cost is a consideration more than quality/cut/ finish.
Even with the high end tailors it seems you pay 75% of the cost and get 60% of the quality - maybe better pay 100% elsewhere and get 100%. Sad to say, Bangkok has suitmakers, but few Tailors.Sukhumvit "Tailors".
Best overview here: http://bkkbusiness.com/?page_id=329 I am not the author.People's experience with the high end here - old but still relevant.

If you want a recommendation I would say Tailor on Ten. They have yet to make a suit or jacket for me but would be my choice if I did. I have used them for alterations and was impressed with their knowledge of what was causing e.g. shoulder divots - the interaction between shoulder, arm scye and sleeve tightness.
I have trusted them with alterations to Savile Row and high end Italian - the latter was literally a remodeling taking it down one whole size and they did it very well.
They claim they will make you a decent half canvassed suit in a good fabric and at a reasonable price and I would say that is a fair claim and this is Bangkok's niche IMO.
I have no relationship with them other than as a customer who has been impressed by their knowledge and workmanship.
Not sure if staff changed at T@Ten. Husband went to have shirts/pants made. Indian guy couldn't stop looking at his phone while showing the one & only roll of cotton twill material they had. Shirt material was just sample books. How would they get a Thomas Mason material within 2 days I wonder? We are not tourists.

I've used Victor and Jesse before. My son says you can even feel the quality in the thickness of their carpet.
Carpet is to distract you from material quality. ????

I don't agree with you about $99 suits, have seen some places that were in MBK Mall in BKK and shops in Pattaya that could make a very good looking suit for maybe $50 than $99 that looked much more expensive. Sometime you have to tell them to double stich or use premier thread so as not to have problems later.
Never would I recommend this place. No US politician wears suits made by a Bkk tailor. US politicians are dressed better than what Rajawongse stitches together.

My husband recently looked around for a new tailor to get pants made and shirts. His trusted Thai tailors had died of old age.
Nothing has changed on the tailor scene. He found a shop on the cnr. Sukhumvit Soi 26. Pants worked out fine, shirt not great. Work done on premises, Thai owned.

When I get to Austria next week I get charged 3€/day tourist tax. I get nothing in return, no insurance or assistance in an emergency. I need insurance to be able to get a Schengen visa.
Why is TH not entitled to do the same?

There is currently couple of threads re "opening Bank account".
It is not simple on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry, especially in Bangkok where a residence certificate most likely required by the bank.
Given time frame and age of friend he should contact an agent to open bank account. Approx cost 5k
Where is he located.
Bangkok Bank required a reference from my home country bank. It arrived within a day & account was opened.

There's certainly no need to attempt to keep it out of the country - so it's definitely not about keeping covid out of Thailand, not any more - and it hasn't been about keeping it out of the country for a long time now.
I have a feeling they need to be seen to be doing something regardless of whether it makes the slightest bit of difference to the situation.
Perhaps they should protect the wider world from becoming infected inside Thailand by shutting down all the airports - that would make just as much sense as what they're doing now - ie - none, what they're doing is pure nonsense and they should stop it immediately.
Real expert opinion here. ????

that's bad sign for thailand pass and covid testing on entry.
There are over 2 months to make decisions, he should not say yet.
They should follow more on international policies to covid
Because those policies are sooo successful. See Europe. Follow South Korea yes, but the mask mandate remains.

I find the pharmacy 2 or 3 shops past the PTT station on the corner soi 4 and Sukhumvit heading towards Ploenchit very good. Genuine pharmacist on duty.
Can confirm this. Otherwise the one in Central Chidlom Supermarket. No chance to get a fake from them. There are 3 pharmacists.
