Buddha Beach, Maenam Samui, early morning
Jimmy,
You missed a golden opportunity to include a second shot of this scene replacing the water bottle for a beautiful yellow MD bottle. I believe DAL needs to inspire you!

At the chopping block.
Looks like someone has been playing with their HDR software.

Thanks for the elucidation. It WAS a stretch for my mind I suppose. However, as many times as the family would watch the Wizard of Oz, it always bored the hell out of me so I would opt for other activities. Now, a reference to Blazing Saddles I will understand!

Dorothy - your'e not in Bangkok anymore...
I'm good but I am not that good. Just a different time of year. I copied those from page 11 on Images of Chiang Rai.Gee VF, what are those big white things up in the sky? I vaguely remember seeing something like that a long time ago. Why is the sky so blue? Sky is supposed to be a brownish-gray. I think maybe this was done in post processing.
So, Rotweiler, what does your comment have to do with this thread or this discussion? Who is Dorothy and what does Bangkok have to do with what is being discussed here? IF this is humor, perhaps you need to explain it a bit more. Maybe too subtle for me.

Stunning photograph!
AWESOME!
Wow,many thanks for the positive feed back folks.
Here's another one of the same sky but in portrait form.
Edited to remove script.
Nope, the first one is much better. The landscape format enhances the calm and peacefulness of the image. Anyway, well done Shaggy!

Mr. Understanding, that's me sounds like a good name for a movie, too.I have a back log of movies and TV shows that I will need to live to a 120 to watch at my present rate.
I love a lot of the old movies, some are so well made, I suppose they had to be with the limited special effects that they had, unlike todays stuff which are mostly all zombies etc to the detriment of plot.
Thank you for being understanding....
Sent from my iPhone.
So do you call your wife Miss-understanding !!!

well thought I would make use of the one and only bottle I will ever buy of this stuff, and hang it in the garden! ..... rather than trash it!
That's the 1 liter(wrong) bottle, Jim
You forgot to remove the wrapper..
ABSOLUTELY, you must remove the label ! ! ! ! ! Jimmy, please take care to use proper Mountain Dew photography etiquette.

AWESOME!
I 2nd that. Shaggy knows how to push the buttons.
My only suggestion to improve that image would be to place a few Mountain Dew bottles at strategic spots in the photo!

Yasothon, march, 2014, route 23.
This is a 4 lane highway under construction. You just have to drive 100km/h while imagining the road lines and pray, really pray nothing strange is coming towards you.
I keep wondering what is more safe on a Thai highway: driving yourself or get the bus? I am still not sure.
I would like to thank TV member Ace of Pop for advising me on directions.
LINES IN THE ROAD???!!!! Thai do not need such useless gestures. The whole road is theirs to drive which ever way they see fit. And NEVER blemish these roads with silly things like traffic lights! Just go with the flow!

Oh well, she's not the first person to be well paid for doing something badly.
Forum's been a bit slow, I thought I'd rattle the cage a bit.
OK, I'll bite! When you say she is not the only one to be paid well for performing badly, are you referring to the current Thai PM? If so, I will wholeheartedly agree.

All joking aside, fellows^. Just a quick farm report:
This morning another pond was emptied. One guy was fishing with 2 rods and he managed quite well.
The other guy stayed behind alone last night to take care of the water pump. Only with a dirty hammock and a bottle of lao kao to spend the night while the water slowly fled into the cornfield.
Cleverly all the fish who didn't make it and died pre-maturely were selected from the bunch and used in a great tomyamplah made on spot. Another farm lesson learned: Nothing goes to waste.
Hey DAL,
Perhaps it is time you changed your profile picture to an image of a Mountain Dew bottle. It seems you are becoming synonymous with said bottle!

Hey Sunshine,
DAL must have really lit a fire under your butt. This is the most I have seen out of you in ages ! ! !
I hope DAL continues to challenge you because I am enjoying your photos!

And how can an informed writer say that you can RETIRE in CR with only a budget of $750 when the government requires that you show proof of an income level that is a tad more than $2,000/mo. Do these people really research anything before publishing this garbage?
You can obtain your non-immi o in your home country and there are no financials
to be provided. This is for a non-immi based on marriage though.
Also for example, Australians only need to go to the Embassy in Bangkok
and sign a stat dec saying they meet these financial requirements.
So it's not that hard to do. I talked to a lot of expats in Chiang Mai who were
living here on 25 000 Baht per month.
As mentioned by Scea, it depends on what you want and your requirements and needs.
Yes, you can get a 90 day non-imm O in your own country but if you want to RETIRE here LEGALLY, you need to have an income of 800,000 baht per year. YES, you can LIE about it to your embassy and obtain a legal document under illegal circumstances but that kinda defeats the purpose of the Thai legal requirement.
Yes there are expats here who live on 25,000 per month which equates to about $780. I was talking about living here on $650/mo. I guess it really gets back to how you want to live during retirement. I was taking issue with the article and those like it that make it sound like you can retire here in Thailand (CR is an example) and expect to get by on $650/mo.
I'm not on a retirement visa, but AFAIK, you only have to have 800 000 Baht in a Thai bank account for 3 months
or have an income of 65 000 Baht per month. Correct me if I'm wrong. So if you have the 800 000 in the bank,
you don't have to show a monthly amount or am I missing something?
So if that's the case, you can retire and live on $750 per month which equates to around 25 000 Baht per month.
Just because you can live on $750 per month doesn't mean that you don't have any other money.
That's my take on it anyway.
Yes you are right. As long as you can deposit and KEEP at least 800,000 baht or about $25.000.00 USD in a Thai bank for three months prior to your retirement renewal you do not need to show proof of a monthly income. Then, using your logic you can retire on 100 baht / mo if you choose. So now if you write an article about retiring in CR you can claim that you can retire here on 100 baht per month. BUT that doesn't give a TRUE representation of retiring in Thailand does it?
I was commenting on the article that claimed that one can retire in CR for $650 per month.

Gone well over mine too...unless he's on about the "band" or at least its drummerriding high on the truck.....hmmmmm....Please tell us DAL....save us from a month
of wondering just what in the heck it is that's "coming on the left"!
If I'm not asking too much, I would like to see one photo of yours here first, sunshine.
DAL...go back through the many pages....there's some of mine up here.
Been lazy of late and haven't posted anything new, that's all.
Hey Sunshine, you are allowed to be lazy. I practice it all the time and have become quite proficient at it.

A serious question, does Chiang Rai have world class medical care? I'd always been led to believe, rightly or wrongly, that CR residents would head for Chiang Mai hospitals if any serious or complex health care issue arose, am happy to be corrected however.
Yes we do! It's very easy to get to, just buy an airline ticket to Bangkok and then a taxi to one of the world-class hospitals.
Can anyone else answer that question more sensibly?
What I am saying is that there are NO hospitals here in CR that come close to world-class. If I was really in need of medical attention, I would RUN to CM or BKK. Nothing here is near the quality of CM Ram.
