  1. The young mothers will have to leave school and hurt their opportunities for their future careers and the newborn babies may suffer from improper upbringing and improper development.

What the article doesn't mention is that the Thai knob who impregnates the unlucky Thai girl often skips out on any responsibility. So while the mother is ruining her chances at a career, Somchai is off the radar, probably drinking lao kow with his buddies. Do this country a favor while you're making regulations on teen pregnancy: round up all the dead-beat dads and deport them.

what you are talking about? what kind of career the women have in thailand? uneducated, unprepared when they are 18, even with university degree they get paid only 9000 baht a month in 95% of Thailand. Nearly no working woman make more money than a bar girl!

To change this is easy, educated the young kids, but this is not what the ruling party wants in Thailand, everything but not people who can thiunk and can make their own decisions

  2. It's coming back into Thailand that could be a problem if you start looking for other work.

I have a "friend" who was working in an international school who did not renew his contract after the fifth year.

He went on vacation for 2 months to USA and then came back to Thailand to look for new work.

When he went to immigration, they fined him over 13,000 baht back and charged him for overstay from the day he left Thailand. He also got an ugly stamp in his passport.

The rules are a bit weird and convoluted. Always make sure that visas and permits are cancelled or used up if you ever plan to come back to LOS.

dont spread such a B***S, how they can charge for overstay when you are not in the country,

and if the contract wasn´t renew and he left so nothing wrong, the only thing is he had to start new aplication nothing else,

I ahte when peopel writing, I hear from a friend of mine, write things you can swear on it or stop spreading any rumors

  3. I work from my laptop for Malaysian company. I report to them. A client sent email to company in Malaysia and forward to me for consultation. The business does not involve Thailand and i don't get paid by any company in Thailand or by Thai people. My income is paid by Malaysian.

You are not allowed to do that. So if you can get away with it and just show the 40k you should be very happy smile.png

of course you are allowed to do this, how can you write all the time wrong statements?

you should care about your situation and work, if you work for company s outside thailand, you are not working by thai law!

  4. of course they cant afford, because off the iphones, ipads and Samsung S5, this is no problems for the students to have but a drink for 7 baht wow, 2 baht up time to prostest,

driving designed new motorbikes or cars for 1 million, make up for hundreds of baht,

and when they go out drinking then beer or whisky is not too expensive,

I just move close (500m) to Mae Jo University, so time for me and my son to ahve lunch for 50 baht together, they have Green Cantee too,

    whatever it means biggrin.png

  5. so no live football on TV no selling footballshirts with Chang advertising, no Heiniken, no Jack Daniels shirts,

no foreign magazins to buy because advertising of alcohol, no duty free sales in airlines, because of promoting alcohol,

yeah, let see all all abrs and discos shut down in Thailand at midnight, this will have a big impact to tourists

  6. "He noted that online work for overseas companies that pay overseas is not prohibited .."

Woo hoo - this is what I wanted to hear. A little bit of common sense at last. Now if they make a work permit easier for these people, they could start collecting some tax too ...

Yes, they clarified that it isn't illegal to work on line while you are on a Tourist Visa.

There is no work permit category for Digital Nomads, but you're free to work as long as your Tourist Visa lasts.

Expat taxes paid here are really a drop in a bucket in relation to Thai workers.

they cant make a work permit for this or all peopel would also be allowed to work inside thailand,

by thai law you are not working if you do it for outside companys and you not ship anything from thailand

  7. all your questions are sorry but very stupid, as by law you cant change the requirements what are set up already,

you can change only for future retirements, people who are here cant be forced to make visa runs or have more money,

some of the retire people who came here in the 90´th or before they have only mto show 200000 Baht,

if your time is so bouring over weekend, may be you should start playing golf or online poker cheesy.gif

and not ask something what cant happend

  8. may be also Germany france, Russia, America, whole europe switch to the left, that some british do not have problems in driving,

why Myamar should switch? better is thailand switch, anyway they use both sides , so no diffrent,

and btw there is no cheap import in Asia, cars from thailand cost 2 -3 times more than in Europe, in some cases f used cars the cost 10 times more

    than on EU market

  9. 1 Question

Do anybody know 1 example that someone get accused for working illegal with his computer`?

    ANYBODY HERE?

but please only when you can make a example what is proved,

not like : a good friend told me

Not that I know of but we are the unintended blowback victims of the Immigration Bureaucracy's crackdown on the poor immigrants doing "Thai" jobs, vis a vis their tightening visa policy making life harder on us as well.

yes they can never catch you working illegal but they can make it impossible to stay in thailand legal,

as many people said it is their country, but they will face the answer for what they are doing,

worth education i have ever seen in my life,

most stupid students i ever met in my life and for sure i met many stupid people,

the thai peopel have the choice, even if it is hard but today with internet you get all information and

so they can know how a country and their life can look like, if they choose to

stay uneducated and poor ok! But they have a choice, same us, we can move somewhere where life is easier

  10. I am guessing the hostility from other foreigners on this forum towards digital nomads is based on the fact they are frustrated with their own lowly earning power in the Kingdom, e.g. a few hundred dollars a month for teaching English to a load of little brats.

I wouldn't get out of my deck chair for that! lol.

I am perfectly happy making my pittance of a wage teaching English here. I live a splendidly comfortable life here.

I don't envy you in the least.

I've never said I thought the internet entrepreneurs to be bad sorts, but I agree with JLCrabb, that Thailand wants IT people to actually invest and hire Thais, not just live here.

The only thing I object to is the condescension, arrogance,

and he "I'm so much better than all you old retired ba$t@@ds" mentality.

I've never been resentful of someone with more money until they brag about it.

for investment you need skills, and for IT investment i think thailand si 100 years away,

and you need laws who make it easy for a start up, 2000000 and 4 thais for each foreigner is crazy and stupid

because you not havve thai ITs on this level and you dont have thai investors who would pay the 51% share

what is needed by the law, so if 4 people who have a good idea in thailand want to make a start up,

thhey need 200000 baht, but thai dont eed this, thais can do it with 0 money,

and they would would need to rent a office, enploy 16 useless thais,

I guess a second Aple or Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, Facebook will not come from thailand,

  11. Hello Forum!

My first post so go easy on me. I am a digital nomad for over 10 years now and have worked many times from Thailand in cafes etc. I pay my taxes in the UK as my income is derived from the UK.

I am no different to anyone visiting Thailand, such as someone checking their work email while on vacation, someone writing or researching for a book (e.g. does a Lonely Planet researcher have a work permit?) or someone playing the stock market, online poker or even moving money around from bank accounts to investing.

I don't really understand why anyone would have a problem with the concept of working remotely when it has no negative impact whatsoever on the host country.

As many have said the only consequence is an extra foreign body spending their foreign earnings in Thailand on accommodation, coffee, food, travel etc.

How can this be an issue?

    finially somebody with some brain,

the only thing is that it can be hard to get a visa for staying in thailand but never for doing any PC work outside thailand

  12. So where do you pay taxes if you are a digital nomad?

If you stay XXX amount of days in Thailand they have right to tax you.

Should be no problem on a single visa since you won’t hit the hard limit on days in the country.

(and I don’t remember but its around 180 days at least for Swedes were the tax should be payed in Thailand instead of Sweden.

And when the Thai government understands that they can earn a ton of tax money on this: could be ”fun”.)

You all start the discussion from the wrong side,

if you have to pay tax in thailand, you would be have the right to work here, if you want,

they cant say you have to pay tax but you are not allowed to earn this tax.

Again and again, this online work isnt illegal work in thailand, it can be illegal in the country where

the product is deliverd, but bever in thailand

  13. I checked in to this about one year ago, and several conditions apply

You must be employed in your home country, and be payed by your employer in your home country, You need to get your salary in your home country and pay all taxes there.

You can not write a single line of code for a Thai company, You can not get payed by having money sent to your thai account,

But if you work for, as an example, a Swedish company, that makes home pages for other Swedish companies and you get your salary in Sweden by that Swedish company, and you pay Swedish taxes you are allow to sit here in Thailand and work on a Tourist Visa.

How (and who) established these conditions and did they put it in writing ??

you dont have to put it in writing!

law not write what is allowed, they are writing what is not allowed and definition of terms,

so when you are not working for a customer who lives in Thailand, and you not ship goods from thailand,

you can do whatever you want at your home or in public,

so how police or court can charge you for illegal working?

they have to interview your customers by police, they have to get bankstatements

and they have to show that exactly this work for this special was done within thailand,

they would need invoices stated from thailand to your customers and so on

    impossible

  14. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    .

    why somebody should do this?

it is a scam, it is ilagal and no need,

to work ilegal in thailand you need customers who are in thailand, money paid within thailand,

when you selling goods and ship then you need a permit for selling yes, but this can make every thai vendor

for 1000 baht a month, for online work you dont need anything, if you work outside the region of thailand

  15. Still far to unclear at present. The statement also contradicts other comments made by other officials in the past regarding it.

My feeling on this is that to be legal then a work permit is required. However, let's be honest if people are working from homes on-line it's not likely that they are going to be caught, unless they are grassed up by someone.

    how you want caugth somebody?

if I am sitting in my house and writing a book, ia m working also, so I am breaking thai law`?

    NO!

but if i am writing in my house a story for Bangkok post what would be paid by them, I would need a work permit!

You cant me working iledal if the income is not generated inside thailand

  16. With reference to the story above from the Chiang Mai City News, this is the first Thaivisa has heard about 'digital nomads' (or anyone else for that matter) being able to legally work on a tourist visa. We don't know if this confirmed, if it only applies to Chiang Mai or if it's nationwide.

We doubt this is the last we have heard of this story but we will try and seek further clarification regarding this matter.

    /Moderating team

on a tourist Visa you are not allowed to work and no IMO can give you this answer, but

again for the last who didnt understand, they are not working in thailand, even they stay here

they are working outside thailand. At because of that, no goverment in Thailand can give a work permit

for a work what doesnt exist!

A work permit would mean they are allowed to work in Thailand for thai customers

  17. They should create a tourist/foreign worker visa and make sure that they have to declare the income and have the revenue deposited into a Thai bank account so that they can collect taxes on it.

No country is allowed to tax the income what is made outside the country only,

if they would tax them they would give this people a work permit first and then they are allowed to work in thailand,

a Visa never can make you paying tax, thats the reason why retired peopel dont pay tax here, if they would have to pay tax, they would automaticly would have the right to work,

You cant say you have to pay tax on your income but you are not allowed to generate income here

  19. Let us say, a genuine tourist comes to Thailand for a few weeks. Most probably this tourist is a employee in his home country or he run his own business. While he stay in Thailand, he do some work online. Whatever... do conversations with clients, write blogs and so on. How could this be illegal?

IMHO, as long as someone get a Tourist Visa, he is a Tourist. I don't speak about visa exempt entries.

    Is everybody crazy on TV???????

No country can give a permission for working outside the country, you can stay here 1 year and do this,

you break only the laws in the country where the work is done, if you not tax them, or not have any license if this need a license

  20. There are very different styles of digital nomad.

    Two examples;

    1. Someone who create websites for his customers in Europe.

(he have customers who give him orders. Actually, a Thai person could do this job too)

    2. Someone who trading US stocks in US exchanges.

(he have no customers. Actually he do only online banking and, nobody else could do this job for him)

BTW; can we expect still the outcome of the interview which Thaivisa.com did with a Immigration officer?

It is not ileagal working online for customers in other country´s,

Or can anybody tell 1 exaple that anybody got fined because of working online like this? No!

Thailand can not offer a Visa for this, if they would offer, it would mean that this person could work also in Thailand,

in the thai market, you cant say you can stay in thailand and work and pay tax but only allowed serve customers outside

    thailand.

Peopel who stay here and offer work outside, not brake the law in Thailand but in the country´s they offer and do their work.

No country can give a permission to work in another country, this should understand even a small child!!!!!!!
