  1. .

It's a real shame because he really was is/was excellent , much better than his competition in north Pattaya

And that is the base problem.

How dare he be better at something.

although insecurity and unwillingness to allow foreigners to be perceived as clever does exist in thai society non thai's actually have taken and passed the thai chiropractic exam which is given in english or was in the past. i know someone that passed and was hired to work with a thai chiro.

he invested study time and a reasonable fee for the exam.

everybody pass an exam in thailand, this should not be the problem

  2. This seems counter productive since there is a strong need for this type of service and the people that can do it are very rare in Thailand. Falong could be able to help Thais in many occupations but the work permits are so difficult to get. I do not imagine that any Thai will step in to fill the void created by putting a Chiropractor out of business.

    I agree.

there is NO ROOM for small businesses to set up in Thailand.

it forces people to go illegal.

a one-man business cant afford to employ several FULL TIME thai people.

Why cant Thailand create a "Small Business Visa" with perhaps allowance for 1 Thai staff.. (or part time staff).

and (as someone mentioned before), i wonder if the Foreign person that was used in this "sting operation" had a work visa, (because he would have been PAID (possibly) by the Police for his time and effort).

even if the Foreigner that the police used had a Work Visa, then it will have been valid ONLY FOR THE JOB THAT HE WAS PERMITTED TO DO... (not for a secondary job.

I would not be surprised at all if the police broke immigration rules to catch a man that was probably providing a good service that is hard to find in Thailand.

All the "GOOD" Chiropractors i have ever visited in Bkk are all Foreigners!!

"there is NO ROOM for small businesses to set up in Thailand. it forces people to go illegal."

No, nothing forces anyone to 'go illegal'. It's quite simple: if it's against the law, don't do it (or try to get the law changed). Sometimes it seems that people here hold foreigners in Thailand to a different set of standards than they would hold foreigners to back in their own countries.

i dont know your profession but in the western countrys many western peopel working ilegal in their own country for saving tax and because otherwise nobody could paid their work, repairing cars, building houses, fixing houses, water, electric installation, care for old people and so on

it is easy to say follow the rules, how long the rule not touching you, but if the are crossing your way you are wining

  3. The whole Work Permit system is riddled with corruption. Many I am sure would have no problem with applying for one and getting one legally, but I was made to sign a form saying that I was making 80,000 Bht clear every month even though on many months (especially after the 300 Bht minimum wage came in) I was actually losing money ! However I was being taxed on this hypothetical 80 thousand and was literally driven into bancruptcy. If everything was straight and above board things would be much better, and if this state of affairs could ever be achieved many would operate legally I am sure. Incidentally on a short trip to Bangkok it soon became clear that most of the waitresses are still being paid only 100 Bht per day, so one wonders and feels like a mug for paying the 300 - 400 Bht ! Silly me sad.png

so how many waitresses you have? you loosing money because you paid the 300 baht a day?

if yo have a´bussiness like this you should shut down, because make money by sucking out peopels work power and not have a good idea for bussiness is the worsed thing, and no waitress working for 100 baht a day, may be 100 baht an hour

  4. The man obviously thought he was an exceptional professional who did not need to respect the law of his host country. He was wrong. It is best that others take heed.

when you take a friend to town with your bike or car you are breaking thai law, this is a profession reserved for thai,

when you translate a letter for someone in a foreign laguage you are breaking the law,

you borough a friend money, you are breaking the law

so you want to be deported?

you are breaking law every day in thailand, because thai law is like somebody will tell you, not proved and explained like in western ccountries

  5. Pomthai, on 20 Aug 2014 - 06:26, said:

Hopefully the undercover foreign operative had a work permit.

Undercover foreign operatives work under the Pattaya Police Department and the Chonburi Immigration. All carry I.D. Cards that are signed by the head of the police and this suffices for a work permit.

    sorry but this isnt

if any of this foreigners get insured or break the law, it not the same like a real policeman, because in thai law

a policeman must have thai nationality

  6. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

Undercover foreign operative? They are really getting clever now.

If this Vince guy is as good as people say he is he should be able to find a way to sort out this mess he's in now, clear his fines, and come back. If he finds a Thai partner who is is licensed and accredited it wouldn't be too difficult to get a work permit.

Good practitioner are hard to come by and by all accounts this guy does a good job. Best advice is to find a Thai Doctor and work with him/ her. They form a partnership and then he gets a work permit under that arrangement.

this form of partnership isnt allowed by thai law,

make the bussiness on the name of a partner, wife, gf, whatever in the moment he work with customers it is ilegal, htats the funny thing in thai law

  7. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

If the guy is un-qualified (he is a student) he would, IMHO, be a danger to the public especially if administering drugs.

Are you trying to say that there is a shortage of qualified Thais in this line of work? Or is it your experience that they need to be supervised by Westerners?

so you think a westener with many years expierence isnt qualified but a bar girl who make a 7 day course paid by her bf and open a massage shop is qualified? here are ten thausends of unqualified massage staff in Thailand and nobody cares

  8. Makes sense that after tightening immigration they'll go after those who have somehow passed the net. I wonder how long until they crack down on bar owners.

Owning a bar isn't illegal. Being an unlicenced chiropractor is.

yes but in the moment you instruct the staff, you change the WIFI password or your take a beer out of the fridge you working ilegal

it doesnt matter you invest Millions into your bar,

and show me 1 bar where a thai person invest own money with a farang,

there is not even 1 bar out of ten thausends owned by foreigners

  9. It's clear that he made a choice. His decision to operate as he did was probably a result of being ill advised.

Now he is at the mercy of the Thai immigration police and the Thai judicial system. Given the choice I'd take the Thai partner.

oh I like the smart TV members,

yes this guy was working illegal, but before you all shouting, kick this people out , they are illegal!

you all should start thinking, what are the laws and if the laws are fair and up to date.

You would choose the THAI partner? Wow you must be very rich and generously person, because

Thai law let you only max 49% of the bussiness, and for sure you have to pay 100% of the investment,

you will not find any thai partner who will put own money into the company.

Next many professions do not need a 2.000.000 baht company and 4 Thai staff to run,

50% of the legal WP peopel are anyway not leagal and break the way by you definition because their job description is not

excactly what they are doing in reality. It is a description only to get the work permit.

If a law isnt near reality it will for sure be broken in every country of the world !

You can be the best hairdresser in the world - you not allowed to work in thailand

you can be the boss of the mercedes forula 1 mechanic team, - you are not allowed to work in Thailand

You can be the best goldsmith in the world - you are not allowed to work in Thailand

    and so on

I hope you will open one day a company with a thai partner and i guess after this you will never write such a stupid advice anymore

Thai Laws can be all the time against you, it doesnt matter what you are doing,

so no advises like they are breaking the law they have to face the punishedment

  10. Paypal for Thailand only allows the use of a Bangkok Bank ATM card for funding the PayPal account, not other method is allowed. That being said, others have posted here about how PayPal has the lousiest foreign exchange rates here in Thailand

Since I only use my Thai PayPal account to purchase from Ebay sellers that insist that I have a "PayPal verified address in Thailand" I can't advise on using it to "to semi-regularly send funds home"

Maybe others can advise on a cheaper method

I do have a BangkokBank ATM (Be1st), and I have a VISA/debit card (for international transactions) coming today which I have to pick up at a branch.

Do I use the Be1st card or the VISA one?

Regarding the exchange rates, thanks for the heads up, I'll have to look into that. So far, I've had to send money home at a Moneygram facility at SCB, and while i don't remember what the exchange rate was, I do remember the 600 baht fee. I'll have to decide which is worse.

I am assuming/hoping that I won't have any trouble sending money from my Thai Paypal to my US Paypal.

why you want to send money from your thai paypal to your US Paypal, you can withdraw from thai paypal account to a US bankaccount

  11. Why you are writing advises what isnt true,

you can open a Thai paypal account and withdraw money only to a Thai or US account

for putting founds on your paypalaccount you can use any Visa or Mastercard from any Bank in any Country,

only need to be able to use in internet,

Kasikorn has a online card you can aply online and is ready next morning 10 am,

But any Visa or Mastercard can be used, u need the card number, the expire date and the 3 digidal secure number,

many thai Bank cards are not able for payments online and cant be use here.

  12. There is only one way they could stop the ongoing scam.

Military personal are to be permanently posted in specific places where the scammers operate.

If they move away and move to elsewhere then the military follows them and lords over them...with a gun if necessary.

Now , after having said that, that solution only works if the appointed military personal are not influenced or outright bribed to ignore the ongoing scam being perpetrated by the scammers and then become part of the scam itself.

Only if the appointed Military personal remain honest themselves.

*** Do you think it could work?????????????????????

There is no other way or program that could even be fathomed as being a working way to control the ongoing scam.

The clients would rent the Jet Skis through military personal who collect the money and documents while the Jet Ski operates are granted permission to operate their business through the posted military personal who watch over the scammers like a hawk.

Any violations of the enforced regulations and or criminal conduct perpetrated upon the patrons would result in the operators being immediately replaced by new operators while the Jet ski rental equipment changes hands to the new operator while the old operator forfeits his equipment ......as that is the penalty for the illegal conduct.

Every other attempt would be useless and a waste of time and would simply create more law breaking and corruption by any of the long list of people involved.

    incredible

do you believe in Santa Claus also?

thhere is no interest to solve any problems, it is THAI style to scam out everything of tourist

  13. This thread seems like deja vu. Didn't we have this same exact announcement a few months ago? And i think a few of these same responses too!!

Not really they announced that they were going to clamp down on the jet ski owners and had come to some sort of agreement with the operators.

This one is being more definite about what they are going to do. I haven't heard any complaints since the last announcement so I do wonder. It would seem that there has been some so they are increasing the pressure on the operators.

As for the same responses that is all they know how to say if it is Pro reform.

Seems to me they had to go at the taxi drivers three times. We were in Phuket two weeks ago and while I feel the cab prices where high as compared to here in Chiang Mai or Bangkok they were all the same. So apparently they have made some progress there. Didn't try the tuck tucks so can't say as to the price on them. We strictly cabbed it. Nephew paid.

    nothing changed and wont,

or really do you think the jet ski operators who made min 100000 Baht a day, now will go home with 3 to 8 000 Baht?

or a taxidriver who charged 1500 Baht for a tour, now will switch on the meter and drive for 200 Baht?

it is only a big show, nobody arrested, an if, then out on bail,

William Shakespear would be proud of this play, give the people some free cinema ticket, some free concerts,

and promise cheaper food on fridays, it is a promotion tour that that can built their army goverment,

Censorship of press, for critism you go to prison, investigate journalism not possible because you can get be fined for

diffamation up to 15 years even you writing the true,

Western educated peopel here on TV and still beleave this BS of propaganda,

    incredible

  14. "I did say that she could try to enter on her Thai ID but she didn't believe me as her passport was expired and didn't think that it would be valid for entry which is understandable as in many countries an expired passport (or ID) isn't valid as proof."

AFAIK in all countries a citizen of that country will always be allowed entry.

"but really this is bonkers to charge a Thai for "overstaying" in her own country. In the UK, this would be unlawful, regardless of what passport the person entered on."

Are you sure about that? She is here as a UK citizen, not Thai, and I would presume it would be the same in other countries.

On what basis did she ask for extension today? Sounds like maybe she pissed of the officer (he being jealous of her living in the UK could have been enough for that). But as Joe said, if she applies for an extension based on being Thai that should be ok. Even her old passport and valid ID card should be enough proof of that.

very funny and crazy answers here,

a thai national dont need to pay overstay, and can not overstay,

she can leave on thai passport, if she has a new passport it is a valid document and

nobody can stop her on the border only if there is an arrest warrent on her name,

  15. No. You will need to show passport to the airline for the purpose of checking your identity.

Have boarded domestic using only my Thai DL.

i use my skipper license what make me 18 years older instead of 51 i ma there 69 years old but no problem for flying,

anything with your name and photo is ok for domestic flights, staff anyway dont know all the ID cards what exist worldwide,

never use my passport in thailand, stay home in safe,

  16. This must be all part of getting ready for Asean or something, Thailand has changed so much in the past few months its unreal, Bangkok at least.

Maybe they might clamp down on the Go-go bars next, It would not bother me. smile.png

My opinion is there are bigger problem's than shisha like Alcohol, including that Thai whiskey rocket juice they sell for 10 baht.

Will not even talk about the Yabba as I m still getting my head around how its so popular and why among young people.

Bann Sisha not effect tourism, but ban of cigaretes, alcohol would have an massive negative effect to the tourism, A Gogo bars you cant ban because they not exist also like prostitutes or whorehouses

  17. Shisha is much less harmful way of smoking tobacco. If you've ever tried it before, you would understand what I'm talking about.

I ont know what is the provblem, Sisha noit allowed in Chiang Mai or Northern Tahiland, same liek not allowed to smoke inside any places, but in Bkk or Pty and the South they not care, police not work. terrible place for non smokers, they smoke it in every disco in Pty,

it smells terrible and for sure it harms all non smokers,

Respect the change of time, smóking not allowed in public, especially 1 Shisha stink like 50 cigarets smoker

It appears that we have been defaulted on , the missus bought a 1.5 in December 2012 with the promise of 100,000 back from the government and we still have nothing

The missus has never previously had a car in her name ?

Nope she passed her test in 2012 and we got a fiesta for her. She went with a bit of an angry mob to Bangkok in April this year and they promised everyone would get their money. Ive read up about it once and apparently it should happen in this tax year. To be honest its not really hurting us financially but I imagine it is hurting some people. It also doesn't instill much confidence if future "Schemes" are introduced

how she could bought a car, she just became 18 in dezember

  19. does it show the priority placed on corruption when the activities to combat it are restricted to a bit of Bangkok?

Don't forget Phuket where they've been destroying illegal beach side businesses and buildings like crazy, and tearing down illegal tuktuk stands.

Corruption has been widespread and a part of Thai culture for decades. They aren't going to be able to end it overnight, but it is clear they are trying to clean up the worst of it. Whether they have the resources and determination to see it through remains another matter, and only time will tell.

you cant clean up corruption if people are not educated, and for sure thai peoipel are not educated like we know, so they will never understand that corruption is something bad. Peopel who cant think logical and not able to solve problems by themselve, who never teached to ask questions, will never understand why corruption is bad.

Even foreigners with university use corruption if they can use and have an advantage, so how non educated thais can change this?

  20. thailand earn lots of money on people who overstay a long time, first it 20.000bath fine +++ all the money you put down there .. what they lose that persons overstay really?
but my opinion, follow the law smile.png

propably mostly of them work without WP,

    and dont pay tax ,

have you family , thai kids ?

most all infrasstructure is paid by tax,

they use them, but dont pai for it,

    so in other way pronounced,

they live a parasite life !

    thats ok for u ?

you pay to build it, hi piss in,

    and you pay the cleaner to clean it up;

    omg,

you should go to your home country and stay there, but I guess nobody wants you there!

if you are on overstay or retirement Visa or on ED Visa you pay the same tax in thailand,

VAT and may be for car and motorbike,

same like most thai never pai any tax more than this listed above,

how people can judge anybody who get a fine from Immigration for his offense and it is ok,

i not payed tea money to solve his problem, its thai law 20000 baht fine.

how people can write and wish that peopelafter cleared overstay should be banned to enter,

may be there are kids and wife, after 11 years his all life is in thailand.

An overstay is nothing only not left the country, this make you so angry?

so when you drive without helmet or wrong parking you should loose your driving licence for some year?

I guess you expect to get fines som e hundret baht and keep going on

  21. hey... how many illegals in our home countries ?

in mine they get housing and welfare (800 euros per person)

my mother who worked whole her life, part-time to take care of the kids as a single mother, she got less pension than that and no free housing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

illegals, over the age of 65 have to pseudo work 1 day and get full pension rights ....

at least these overstayers in thailand, same as people who pay takes, have no rights overhere, nor pension, nor social welfare

what a b+llsh+t how can get a illegals get welfare and housin? if illegal they get nothing because under the radar,

you come to thailand why? girls, good food, weather, why?

you think people who run away before they get killed or rapped not have the right to do and to get support?

but peopel who like the clima and the culture can come and stay?
