  1. Under 13k is actually quite possible

9-13K for a six day trip to Japan?  If those people are really that dumb then maybe they deserved what they got.

If you don't mind a budget hotel/hostel, and book well in advance - It is actually possible to do for just under 13k with airsiago, and that includes taxes. So a group booking must also be possible

  2. I have tried to find some logic in this scheme...... But funnily enough I cant! They are targeting the wrong age group!

How much of a no-brainer is it, to stick to the current retirement visa requirements? IE: 800k I the bank, and then pay the yearly fees out of the 1-2% interest you can get.

BTW. For anyone interested, an OAP in the UK gets these benefits = https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/older-people/benefits-for-older-people/

Have you traveled by air much in 15 years?   That's where I usually catch my "bugs."  All that recirculated air, sharing the viruses of everyone on that flight.  When I came back from the holidays, everyone on the international flight seemed to be hacking, coughing, and snotting.   Ergo:  24 hours later, I was coming down with it.  First cold I had since the previous trip!   If I could only hold my breath for 14 hours...

Take a zinc tablet before you fly. That will boost your immune system, and give your body a better chance of defeating them bugs. They are also effective if taken within a short period of time, if you come in to contact with a flu spreader.

  4. I think Ganga should be freely available to anyone who is over the age of 21 (unless prescribed by a doctor). The effect on undeveloped brains (teens & young adults) is a bit of a concern if you do some research.

I had nothing but positive experience with it when I smoked it back in the 90's. It helped me stop smoking cigarettes, it helped me get rid of Asthma, and it helped me with my spondylitis (been off medication for over 10 years now!)

  5. You could probably survive very easily on about a grand a month. I have rented loads of 1 and 2 bedroom houses and apartments (some near a beach) and never had to pay more than (15,000 Baht) 300 GBP a month. Everything else depends on what you want to make yourself comfortable.

  6. I have just finished upgrading my PC this afternoon. It is now a reasonably priced high end gaming PC, that will now run GTAV in 4K with everything on full, and is VR ready. Initial (un-tweaked) score on Passmark.com was 5308.8

Just to give you an idea, here is what I got from JIB recently + - 100 Baht

Graphics 10,000 baht  (GTX 1060 (Galax) - best bang for buck)

16 GB Ram,  3,000 Baht (Kingston Hyperx)

240 Gig SD HD 3,000 Baht (Galax)

Motherboard 4,000 Baht. Asus H97-pro. Its a  gaming one with PCI Express 3 and socket 1150. (Nearest one they had in stock to the MSI one that I was going to get)

    Stuff I already had

i7 Processor, 12,000 Baht (socket 1150) got last year. You can get a faster one now for around the same price.

Normal HD for storage 1 gig 1800 Baht

    Case + power supply 1,000 + 2,000 Baht

    Mouse, keyboard, 1,000 Baht

    wifi dongle 370 baht

    CD Drive 800 Bhat

    Monitor (My smart TV)

Software Win 10 Pro. If you have a legit win 7 or 8 license key, then you can download win 10 ISO from MS and use the same key

So in all, about 35,000 + monitor & OS for something that is in the top 10% of set ups, but not stupidly priced.

  7. I cant believe nobody has mentioned the goats!

Thailand has dogs running round everywhere, and Laos has goats running around everywhere, which is much nicer.

I have been to Laos many times, and I tend to agree with a lot of the comments here about the people and food, plus the fact they have some casinos.

The only things I didn't like about Laos, was the 1500 baht for a visa which uses up a whole passport page, and the fact that they drive on the right.

  8. If anyone is still looking for one of these, and fancies an excuse to go to Macau. I found a shop that are selling these for $HK1700 (7,770 Bhat). They were $1988 on the high streets, give or take 10 Dollars.

Receipt attached which includes the address.

I tried to order one off Ebay a few months ago, but had problems with people refusing to send it to Thailand, or who were adding 50% import duty ect.

BTW. If you go to Macau between now and September, it is VERY humid!

  9. Ranong is a nice place to relax with several hot springs. I seem to remember seeing a couple of hotels advertising hot spring facilities as well?

I usually stay by the river and walk up to Raksa Warin hot springs. There are free, and paid outdoor springs up there, and its a nice walk. I recommend the government owned spa across the road called Siam Hot Spa, it has a sauna, steam room, and hot spring Jacuzzi for 150 baht for all day. Swimming trunks, clean towels, water are included. Men & Women have separate areas. Do a search and see what you find.
