  1. What a change in terminology, yesterday they had been sacked, expelled from the civil service, shot at dawn and then hanged, drawn and quartered.

Today the boss is " planning " to dismiss them but had he said something about disciplinary proceedings and if found guilty could face dismissal I might be more inclined to go with it.

How much is poor journalism, bad translation or just BS for public consumption because of embarrassment ?

Even worse, an Udon Thani red shirt leader was photographed near Government House wearing Udon Thani Provincial Police uniform. Now just where will that go ?

  2. So they played a game - big deal.

Yes it is a big deal, because when ordinary Thai people play the same game, these very same policemen come and put them in jail.

Agreed with a slight qualification, as usual here you only get done if you are a nobody but it's ok for ordinary Thais to play in protected casinos.

Easy to lock up a nobody as they can't pay and are not connected so no one one gets on the cops backs for what they've done.

  3. We are heading towards dark times. You better believe that PTP would love nothing bette than full censorship. And when papa gets back into town and rounds up the old amart to install the new ones, nobody will be safe.

Yes if ever gets back there's a lot of people who would be advised to head for the hills IF they can and since he knows all about taking flight I'm sure he'll do all he can to prevent them until he wreaks revenge.

Those who get out will find that unlike him where 2 governments have been in no mood to hunt, he will.

  4. Most would say this is hard to believe but the way things are these days it's eminently believable and is the top of a very slippery slope.

PTP are making it clear they will go to any lengths to have full control and get their way.

I sincerely hope the opposition rallies are orderly because if not it will give the government excuses for more control, not that they need them but it looks good, and for the red to hit the streets to " protect " them.

Two of the four facing these possible charges are red shirts btw. This is a weird one as though I definitely don't think PT are friends of free speech, I just don't see how having people arrested for discussing a potential coup benefits them. As has been pointed out, it's usually their people that bring up coup rumours anyway.

Edit: One plausible reason might be that the government thinks that more people will protest against them if the coup rumours are strong enough. Might just be for show. If that's the case, it's pretty dumb - if anything it highlights the coup issue more and makes the government look insecure.

Is there a chance the reds involved in this are being reminded there's a party line and they need to toe it ?

I'm sure lots of coup suggestions will fire up the reds without having to be told to be ready to act but this government is stupid enough to tie itself in knots as I don't see them as masters of intrigue. Mind you they do seem to operate in the belief they can get away with anything.

  5. The mandatory war room has been set up of course but there's an interesting article in the other paper where the People's Army claim the real war room is on Koh Chang and Mr. T himself is in command.

The PA say a private plane arrived in secrecy at Trat and a VIP, under heavy security, was taken by speedboat to the island.

I know Thailand is the hub of wild and exaggerated claim but why not ?
